Formula 35 Fork: Lower Leg service & travel adjustment.

Andre van Aarde from Rush Sports runs through the lower leg service procedure for all Formula 35 forks. While the lower legs are removed he details the various components, adjustments etc. This video also covers the procedure to increase / decrease the travel of the fork.

Hi Andre, I have the 33 fork which looks pretty much identical to the 35 based on your tutorial. When stripping my forks I removed the damper from the right hand stanchion. I can't find any information anywhere about how much Ballistol oil to use in the damper, I have been told it's an open bath arrangement but the 5-15 cc's of oil seems too little for a damper. Any information on this would be appreciated.

Hi Andre, thanks for the great tutorial! I tried to open the fork, but it seems the bolt on the left hand side turns with the whole air spring assemby: When turning the bolt with the allen key I can hear a squeeky sound (probably the seal ring rubbing on the inside of the upper leg). I can turn the bolt endlessly, but I wound come out. Any idea what I could do? Thanks! Jan

Hi Andre, are these older forks comparable with the newer pug and play style CTS Compression tune valves ? I read in an online review a different compression module was given to the tester which they preferred because it further helped the fork ride higher in its travel, just wondered what that might have been. Second question: The damper, how complex is it to service? or is all it needs a oil change every 2 years? In that case, Is it a can of worms or will a clued up mech be ok(warentee is long gone)?

Hi Stefan. This fork used the CTS too, so it's the same. It is / was a pretty easy change to make, and there were three standard tunes available for purchase. Regarding servicing the damper, it is a little more complex as you obviously need to ensure there is no air present in the system, but it is reasonably easy to do.

Don't ever ever separate losers from uppers like that. Uppers should be in bike stand. Lowes should be pulled gently making sure nothing gets scratched. Hard to watch.
