Here's something a little different. How to perform a basic air can service on the rear shock of your mountain bike in real time. Henry runs through the tools that are required, disassembling the air shock, the order of the components, and reassembling the part 🔧

My 50 pence for refitting the air can. Wind the rebound to fully slow counting the amount of clicks then when you compress the shock it stays down! Makes engaging those pesky threads a whole lot easier.

This is a great thing. This way it's much more specific and you can see exactly everything you need to do. Although I was kinda disappointed that he didn't show the removal of the shock from the bike. It's a small thing and probably can see it in other videos but still.. Would be nice if it were really 'start to finish'

I struggled getting the air cover off, so went back to removing it with it attached to the bike. Worked a treat with just hands and no strap. Struggled getting back on but that's because I want applying enough pressure when twisting

I like it. Do more of this. But you did make an error. How did the shock magically appear on your work bench? People also want to know how to properly remove and reinstall it on the bike. That information is more important in some ways as if I cannot confidently get it off and back on the bike, then I can't service it.

If your struggling to reseat the Can then slowing down the rebound to minimum helps. A cheap 1 - 3mm syringe is good for adding an accurate quantity of float fluid to the can. I also personally crack the Can on the bike then remove the shock.. much better than putting a hex through the eye IMO.
