Ah we are here again Formula Drift. DMEC starts 6th of May. There is Piotr Wiecek driving and WRC world champion Kalle Rovanperä driving his Supra, Daigo Saito has build it. Other finnish drivers, one driving saloon BMW with Ford Barra engine, Lauri Heinonen driving his Nissan S13 with supercharged Dodge Nascar engine pushing 950whp, just dynoed it last week. Because Aasbo apparently tapped brake, basically brake checked Matt which made him spin out. Aasbo said that he didnt press brake and that Matt was going too fast but idk.

Because Matt knows that if you have the decl sensor mounted a certain way it is more sensitive. So if you tap a wall it will flash red for a split second giving matt the right to spin if he wants and it would be aasbos fault

I’ve had issues with the judging before but today felt like it was 3 completely new people who were more or less in agreement with one another all the way through. Consistency feels like it’s way up from last year. Albeit it’s still only round one but the whole vibe just felt so much, happier for everyone. So glad Deane and Forrest are back and that VGjr is going to thrown down. Super pumped to see some more new drivers coming in and chasing down some big guns. FD ain’t small no more. Which makes me a really happy long time fan, thanks FD! Can’t wait for round 2! Now if only there was a way to lure Saito over here. Maybe he could swing by and grab Rad Dan too! 😅😅

Matt tapped the brakes at 3:35:37 but his lights on the windshield stayed green. Aasbo tapped the wall, did not lose momentum at least visually but the lights turned red. Not sure if the technology is there yet to decide such calls as the Matt Aasbo battle. I think Matt was just too close there.

That Hurst Tuerck decision was a tough one. I can see how it went that way although I think shared fault might have been better. It was a decel area but isn't there still an expectation on maintaining momentum? Hurst slowed down so aggressively. Tuerck had close proximity which I thought was supposed to play more into the cause and effect criteria now. He had no reason to expect Hurst to slow that much and then it was too late and contact was the only possible outcome.

Aasbo did have a great chase run however Matt just needed a clean lead run to advance as the judges ruled Aasbo was at fault for Field crashing. After watching it over again it is a tough call to make as the cars did not touch but Field was following Aasbos lead which put both cars into the wall. Field then took the route of bailing to avoid taking both cars out due to the aggressive chase run and Aasbos car slowing down after impact to the wall. The judges then needed to look at both drivers lead runs and since Field kept it 100% clean in his, it is an easy decision for them.

I think Matt can drive but that chase he did was bad and he was at fault for wrecking. Guys sent it all day towards that wall and took the risk to try to stay aggressive. If you’re scared to commit like everyone then he could have backed out some. He committed and halfway through backed out. But let’s be honest if they would have ruled Matt field at fault then he would have thrown a tantrum and bad talked aasbo like he did last time.

Ya, they did. Bottomline, Aasbo deceled in a non-decel area at speed, by hitting the wall with a driver in proximity. Matt;'s light is greet the ENTIRE time until it is not which means he was not already in a spin because a spin from more angle is necessarily slower, so the obvious inference is he dealt with something that was an unpredictable variable and had nowhere to go with Freddy deceling.

Why do the drivers using their timeout have to start the car within the time limit? In D1NZ they allow teams to get the car up and down outside of the time limit so long as no hands are on the car. This eliminates any dangerous situation where you might be rushing to drop a car and someone gets hurt. It seems to work pretty well.

@@rtzeexy374 I know Matt personally, and I know him as a hardcore competitor, not a crybaby and we also don't feel the need to protect the judges. We have a history of saying when we think they are wrong, if you follow this page, and our president straight up calls it out when a "wrong" call was made, but this is drifting. This sport is made to not agree, especially in the modern era where a driver has a 1000HP beast that does not want to stay in drift and is almost uncontrollable and everything is unintuitive with the cars...everything. All we care about is that they give an honest, defensible and reasonable account of their results. Knowing them personally, I know that is the case. They give each battle the care an d honor it deserves, even when they don't agree amongst themselves. Once you understand that, the whole world appears different.

The announcers may play dumb to try and get favorites to win but the judges have some soul. If I'm following you and I hit you, that's my fault. I didn't have the skill to follow you properly. NOT the leads fault. SKILL is being able to not just do a good line your way, but do a good line their way.

I think being overly general like that can confuse people. If I am following you in proximity and you make a mistake that takes less than .20 seconds (human avg. reaction time) to react to, without messing up, then I would say the lead was the CAUSE of the effect that occurred with me and should be held responsible.

@@formuladrift obviously theirs specifics to every case but if you're actually following like you're supposed to be then you're on the same line and the only time a correction would cause an issue would be if the lead is going into the wall and makes a drastic angle change or brake. If the lead is going into a corner and you don't bleed speed and tap them and make them spin idk how that's even up for debate. Not like it matters the judges went the route I would've gone but it's hilarious hearing the judges cry cause they think it should be the other way. "Hey you voted for X what was your reasoning?" Like uh he got tapped and it ruined his lead run...

Could someone explain to me how the decell caused spin that happened before the decell even happened? What I can see on the replay is Field gets his angle before Aasbo hits the wall, then couldn't get back from it an spun. My judge is the incomplete for Field, major mistake for Aasbo. The chase driver *might* think he should get away from the crash predicted from the leader's line, but in this case it didn't happened.

I think the judges got overexcited over the telemetry data and forgot to take a look at what happened with the car positioning and angle.

Cars as these levels do not want to stay in drift. That is why they have to constantly be manipulated. An unpredictable variable that the driver cannot adjust for can unbound the car, easily. Aasbo hits the wall, decel goes red (not even yellow), which means it was big. Matt is at proximity and notice his light is green the entire time, until the spin. If he were over-rotating (adding angle), the car is necessarily going to lose green lights or even add yellows or go red. It doesn't. He is green the whole time and then out of drift. This tells you that there was a very fast and unpredictable action from the lead that caused something dramatic to an in proximity chase driver.

What I can see is Field kicking the foot brake and locks the steering, then Aasbo hits the wall. I think he couldn't get from this anyway, all he could do is to continue the momentum set by brake. Love and respect the judges but Ryan needs to be on the cast the whole time. The whole cast just seems to flow better with him on the cast the whole time. Just my opinion 🤷‍♂️.

Aasbo deserved the win. Pro FD drivers, bumper expoding and the chase driver still there. A little bit of a wall tap, Field spins out bc of poor initiation. And that sensors are bullshit. Those ECU have telemetry data of the pedals, download it for dificult judging and don't put inertial ones. That is bs.

@@formuladrift inertial is g based, yeah, I know. But if you are judging decel, it's better to judge driver inputs, not inertial readouts.

@@suprvrmedia6235 It’s not because that is not always apparent. You can have a decel and think you saw it or visa versa in a modern drift car. And if we are talking inputs from Field, if he is spinning, he is not angling up enough to even trigger a slowdown (yellow) which is actually physically impossible. His light is green the whole time.

@@formuladrift I still think it is bs. You tell drivers when to decel and where to put the car. If the lead driver (aka Aasbo) does the decel well, puts the car into the touch and go, but clips the wall making it change a bit the angle, it's a point deduction for sure. But if that little issue made Field spin out, when Fields line wasn't good from the start, it think Aasbo is not at fault. And that g-based sensors are not needed in my honest opinion. Cameras for the angle, and telemetry from the cars ECU should be more than enough to see if somebody brake checks or makes an unchaseable lead run. Idk man, so many people were surprised by Aasbo fault. Even him, but he is a polite dude. Take a look at it to see if it is worth it or not.

honestly the judges make some really bad decisions sometimes. They definitely are too harsh and make some wrong calls. People wouldn’t be saying these things if they weren’t true. Every event there are people saying the judging was bad and that’s fact. Please help out the fans and correct this we want a fair event thank you. Brian sorensen always gets harshly judged and deserved to go through this time. Chelsea always get put down on the judges scores for no reason and deserves to win. Deane gets harshly judged the list goes on there’s favourites and it keeps happening every event and year. We want fair competition please
