I can't tell you what this scene means to me. Around when the movie came to VHS I was a young disabled child just fitted with leg braces for the first time. For whatever reason, I had an Elvis obsession too. I think our local oldies station played a ton of Elvis. To see that Forrest who had gone through what I was going through gave the King his style..just gave me hope that I could have an impact too. Its silly, but I have such affection for this scene because of that.

The innocent wisdom in this movie is flawless. Indeed, Elvis did sing him too many songs. His overworked schedule, exploitation and hypercommoditization of the beautiful product which was his voice, were exactly what drove him into his addiction and eventual death. I don’t think some people truly understand what a masterpiece this was. The plot where one man experienced so many important events in history was outstanding. The writing and acting in this film were top notch for example in this scene the film leads you to believe that Elvis picked up his signature shuffle from Forrest walking like that. The mix of fact and fiction blended so well in to these historical events was pro.

Elvis worked a lot on his career from an early age. By the age of 18, he was already doing two shows a night and driving his own car between cities. Then he made about 3 movies a year for 9 years in Hollywood. And finally, in Las Vegas, he performed for 7 years an exhausting show twice a night, 7 times a week with rare breaks between tours. And died of exhaustion.

Also kinda angry that he used her songs dance as plagiarism to get famous. I feel that his family coulda sued the movie for this one since it is insinuating that he didn’t come up with the moves on his own but stole the moves from a child which is defamation of character. Obviously just something for the movie not to be taken seriously, but still didn’t paint him in a good light.

"Hound Dog" has been recorded more than 250 times. The best-known version is the July 1956 recording by Elvis Presley, which is ranked number 19 on magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time; it is also one of the best-selling singles of all time. Presley's version, which sold about 10 million copies globally, was his best-selling song and "an emblem of the rock 'n' roll revolution". It was simultaneously number one on the US pop, country, and R&B charts in 1956, and it topped the pop chart for 11 weeks - a record that stood for 36 years. Presley's 1956 RCA recording was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1988, and it is listed as one of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's "500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll".
