Forrest is back with some new tricks | Lush & Loose

Forrest is one of the oldest mountain bike destinations in Australia, with nearly two decades on the trails. This little town hidden away in the Otways is mountain bike crazy, and the network has had a major facelift.

Stage one of the upgrade focused on the trails south of town, with some of the classics like Follow the Dog, Third Time Lucky and Red Carpet receiving some much-needed TLC, and there's a quintuple of brand-new trails to add some gravity and modern trail-building into the mix.
Come along as we explore the new trails south of town, the classic singletrack of the Yaugher network and some of the off-the-bike gems scattered around this scenic part of the world.

Would have been great to see a more honest review. The updates were seriously needed, but they’ve completely missed the mark. Not worth your time if you’re a seasoned trail or down hill rider. Forest has the potential to be something truly special, but it’s missing a stand out black Dimond DH trail (just don’t get the last crew to do the work). #builditandtheywillcome

Couldn’t agree more, there was a chance to make Forrest a real destination spot, it’s a great town, the club are great, the food and beverages are awesome but not having a gravity trail when the bike industry is building bigger, more capable bikes seems like a waste of resources and a missed opportunity to bring in more tourism dollars. #prayforforrestgravitytrails #builditandtheywillcome #makeforrestgreatagain

Maybe they just haven’t built the kind of trail you’re after. That doesn’t mean they’re not great trails. If you like flowy XC trails then the place is 👌

@@poidahdubya I totally agree that Forrest is amazing for xc , I’ve been riding those trails for years and love them, but the problem is that there’s a lot of potential and a market being missed at Forrest. The only gravity trails this side of Geelong are illegal hand cut trails that won’t be around much longer. If they built trails to suit all types of riding they would bring in a lot more tourists and give people an alternative to having to always head to the high country
