CHEVROLET had a choice. Either they could build a car like the current Corvette and fill it with expensive interior knobs and highest quality materials and charge you a mint for the car or they could scrimp on the interior materials and build you an amazing car that could be affordable for lot more of the buying public. I think they met very well in the center, and brought forth a car that is amazing for a good price point too..

Forrest's,... base price for me, from 65k to 92k is 27k in options i do not need. and in many cases the extra weight of all those options makes the more expensive car slower. So the 80k Z06 for me. The base Corvette is $55,495.00, Grand Sport 65,495, Z06 79,495. if i choose 1 of these models my only option would be Paint color, most likely yellow. Good review

Newton Washinton Ha!, you won't get a Z06 that can handle as well as a GS while you will never get out the door for under $94,000 for a "base" Z06 because they just don't make them like that for dealership allotments. You would have to special order it which will add $12,000 to $15,000 on the base price of $82,500 in special order, special build and special transportation costs! I went that way with my "base" 2016 SS Camaro that I didn't want any of the gadgets because of the 162lbs off the curb weight that a base has off a loaded SS, but it ended up being only $1,735 less than the loaded package because I had to "special order" it. If you can find a "base" Z06 on the lot that came with that dealerships allotment then you will save $7000 to $10,000, better yet looking for a 2017 base Z06 could save you even more especially in late October 2017 through March of 2018!

Just a heads up. For push button starts, you dont have to hold the button down for it to start. You just press the button and the electronics will hold the starter for you until it starts. Awesome video! I enjoyed it!

Hey Goodt video! I am a C4 and 2018 GS owner. I will be doing my own review here in a few weeks. I have to say it only because you fell into the same trap that litterally ALL youuthful KZbinrs are fell into. Coming from the automotive race and mechanic world, we are all confused as to why yall keep paddle shifting automatics and then complain about the up and down shifts.... How do yall NOT see that as completely absurd. The new Automatic Corvettes were designed as the fastest option when left alone. Once you implement human error into the equation the car enters what's called inferrior driver superior engineering preservation mode. It's litterally preventing you from tearing up clutch plates and over revving. World renowned race car driver Randy Pobst does a track day test of the GS and ZO6 in automatic configuration. And he never once even THINKS about touching the paddles. He just uses his superior experince and training and lets the car do work. And he crushes it! I'm only saying all that so you can take it into account for you next videos. The Corvette is a GT style TRACK car. NOT a Drag strip car. Please keep doing the videos man! Great vid! I'm not trying to throw shade

Yes it is. I own a new 2017 Stingray and I test drove a 2017 Porsche Carrera 911 S (which is still slightly slower 0-60) but costs $150k out the door. I didn't bother driving the base Porsche Carrera 911 because 0-60 in 4.4 seconds is not a supercar. The 2017 Porsche Cayman at $60k is way slower and has a very harsh ride that is not usable as a daily drive commuting to work.

NO ITS NOT THE AMERICAN PORSCHE..ITS THE AMERICAN CORVETTE...Yet again Corvette has just won the 2017 ALMS Weathertech Championship beating Porsche and BMW, Ferrari and Ford. Corvette won the team, driver and manufacturer..Porsche came 5th..The Corvette is faster better around the track and of course much better looking than a Porsche and costs less...To me the Corvette has been the best looking car ever for decades when you take into consideration all its incarnations. from C1 right up to the current C7..then the C8 is going to look totally different as its going to be a mid engine car...so its going to be interesting to see how it looks and performs.

Forrest this was my first video of yours that I watched, and I watched the whole thing...You do a great job going into thorough description about the car. Your voice is very calm and relaxed and easy to listen and comprehend. (some car reviewers on YT talk so fast and/or too excited.) from every single exterior air vent to all the stitching and upholstery on the doors and seats, you cover every detail... I've been watching two other very popular car reviewing YTbers for years. I am not going to tell you to be anything like them, you do you, and keep it original but, if I may have two or three constructive criticisms, after watchign this video. 1) You tend to say "Guys" waaay too much, sounds a bit..eh, think it's better if you cut down on the "guys" it just seems like you're reporting about the car via Group Skype to five of your buddies when you keep calling all your viewers "guys" . You're on KZbin, you have a huge audience from around the world: and my other criticism, again, these are my opinions: The driving POV camera, could be more fixed on your right shoulder, instead of the top of your head facing down at the cockpit. Maybe less cockpit, more windshield and road and less jerkiness, more fixed and stable camera. Just a slight fish eye lens and smack in the middle of the car, looking out the windshield.). As much as it's nice to look around the dash of the car and your arms and hands while you're driving: The viewer will be more immersed in the driving experience when they are also looking out the window and onto the road like (you) the driver. Seeing the road and roadside elements move past us, gives the viewer a better sensation of the car's speed. And my third and final constructive criticism, mow your lawn once in awhile eh mate? :P Great work, keep it up.

before I bought my Z06 I drove a 2017 grandsport for the day. they look the same inside out. its the trim packages that makes the arrow look different. the grandsport is basically a Z06 without a supercharged engine. cant wait for the C8 and the new RZ1 ;)

Need to revisit the venting on this. The lower vents are for brake cooling. Top vent for rear diff and trans coolers

Great video! I loved how you showed the responsiveness of the paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Most videos complain about them being slow, but don't actually show what slow means -- given it's a video, you'd think they'd video record it. It seems the shifters are actually not that bad! I do see about a 1 second delay from clicking to down shifting and about 1/2 second delay to upshift (from your video at 21:10), but all in all if people really want to go manual, then they should simply get an available manual transmission.

just to give you a heads up the lower vents on the rear are for the brakes only the upper duct on the quarter panels are for the elsd and the trans cooler plus it is not a true Z07 package without the Michelin pilot sport cup 2 tires which are race slicks

Actually, starting in 2018 Chevy allows you to buy the Z07 package without the Cup 2 tires. You get the awesome brakes without the 6000 miles tires lol.

I own a Corvette (C7.R Edition) and I've been trained to drive by both Ron Fellows at Pahrump NV and Porsche Sport Driving School at Barber Motorsport Park and a Corvette is not a Porsche. They are unique. Both have good qualities and both have faults.

The pre lower rear fender intakes supply cooling air to the rear brakes that exits out the upper rear side facia. The upper rear fender intakes send air to the rear transaxle. That exits to the lower rear side faciaI know. I have a 2019 grand sport. Also it’s not micro fibre. It’s called alcantara leather. I appreciate your vlog, however I would like if you were a little more informed with the vehicle you were evaluating

Those seats make me moist. Why do you not like the 8 speed? By the way, the downshifts are slower because the car rev matches and it takes a sec for the rpms to catch up vs. if you had to heal and toe it would be just as slow.

that truly sucks, I was buying a 2016 CTSV and the 8sp trans is what turned me away from it, I still may get a CTSV for a daily driver as i have many other cars. Love the GS you tested, great colors too. Any idea if they remapped the 8speed to be any better on the upshift and downshifts in Sport mode?

@@autofanaticcars the 10 speed will not fit in this car..that is why..i have an 18 gr.sport..with the 8-speed autom...it totally will blow your mind how well it shifts..the torque converter magnifies the power on take-off..n..away sheee...goes,,,no problem doing an aggressive dead-stop ..0-60..that is 1 reasonn i traded in my gt-350 last year 4 this car...that car just did not like 2 go from a dead stop..ford shot theeirselves in the foot on that 1!!!

Definitely looks better than a BASE 911... But the quality (fit/finish) is lacking--Test drove one and the interior rattled, squeaked, and there was glue visible between a few [plastic] panels. Absolutely unacceptable at this price point.

I own a new porsche and a new GS and the build quality is very similar. And my GS has no squeaks, rattles or any glue etc. corvette sounds better - and a much more interesting design - inside and out. Porsche design outside is actually 40 years dated - and interior is similar to any japanese sedan.

Great video, Appreciated it. I own one, exact the same except its dark grey and stick shift, which is way more fun. I do not think I would buy one again after this, I find it VERY NOISY on the interior due to the top seal. Car is great though, but for this price, it could be better made.
