However, here they are with their first long-range EV now entering its second year! They’ve changed out the infotainment system now for same in the new defender.

It is clear to see that he did not do his homework entirely. And there has been several updates to address the lag in the system. Let’s remember the theory behind an EV is to conserve energy.

Just a tip from an I-Pace owner. You missed that under the back seats there is loads of storage to stick laptops, tablets etc

Why I love jaguars but this one seem overpriced and boring the Tesla seem worth it’s money and not boring

I got this I-Pace because it looks and drives better than Etron and model X and I'm so happy with it !

This guy was brilliant. You covered so much without ever getting boring and I learned so much more about the Jaguar than I have ever seen from other presenters. You should consider presenting as a profession.

The new model year I-Pace has the much quicker Pivi-Pro infotainment system, that should address all of the shortcomings of the original system. All of JLR's 21MY vehicles are changing to Pivi-Pro.

I would take this over the Model Y because I am sure this doesn’t have any panel gaps, misaligned back seats or a crappy paint job. 😑

Such a lovely car. First attempt very close to perfection. Can you imagine what the new i XJ electric will be like when it comes out next year! Hopefully they will made and improve any deficiencies! Possibly better completion for tesla S

I got soo excited to that you received the ipace and that it came after the Audi Etron. I just love your take on cars. When the Mercedes EQC i hole you get a chance to review that one as well.

Nice review. Looked at the Tesla Model 3, Audi Etron and the I-Pace and bought the I-Pace six months ago. Very well build, beautiful car, both inside and out. After 12K miles ZERO problems and am very happy with my choide. Model 3 is a good car but the are everywhere now. Didn't like the interior much. Etron is rather boring to drive and really have with relatively poor performance. The I-Pace is very comfortable and quiet and yet very quick and sporty when you want it to be. Range initially was around 220 miles during the winter but by now, May 2020, temperatures are around 18-22 degrees Celsius and my range has gone up to around 270-280 miles with easy driving. Car did get several updates of which the H264 was probably the most important. If I would need to point out minor points it must be the 1-phase home-charging and the infortainment. For me however, both have never been a real issue. Am awaiting the latest OTA S20A-update for the infotainmet, but it seems it's not yet available where I live.

Almost same situation, 9 months ago I test drove the Model 3 performance, order one for delivery in 2 weeks. Saw that the local Jaguar dealers had a surplus of 2019 I-Pace on their hands! Made a great deal on the I-Pace, counting the $7,500 federal tax rebate, came out about the same price as I would have paid for the Model 3. Jaguar also gave me a new 240 Volt charger. What I do not like about the Model 3, is the low ground clearance. Very happy with the Jag, took it to local dealer that I did not buy from for service, they gave me a free Land Rover loaner, and fixed all my complaints and did software updates. Having my I-Pace service is like flying first class compared to economy class with my Ram truck dealer!

Would the Tesla model Y be a good comparison? Plus I’m still waiting for the Mercedes EQC to finally get to the US. That would also be an excellent comparison.

Important to note that as of today, you can easily get $20,000 off of sticker on a new 2019, with some dealers being equally aggressive for 2020s. That makes this car a no-brainer relative to the other cars discussed here...at least IMO. ;)

I’m a little confused... Was this I-Pace equipped with adaptive dynamics so you can adjust the suspension damping or was the drive mode just changing the steering and throttle calibration? Adaptive Damping isn’t standard on the I-Pace. When I drove the I-Pace with Adaptive Dynamics it was very soft over bumps with the suspension set to comfort mode. The one I drove was also fitted with huge 22” wheels.

Adaptive dampening is not standard on the base trim.

maybe the suspension is hitting it's bump stops over large bumps? suspension travel too short for a heavy vehicle?

Regarding speed bumps. Does this iPace have air sprung suspension?

I honestly feel that if Jaguar had priced this vehicle at a more competitive price and made it have more standard kit, they’d be selling tons of these. Unfortunately when I test drove one it just didn’t feel special enough to go with it over a Model 3 Performance considering it would be over $20,000 more expensive and has less range, doesn’t get the same level of OTA updates and can only charge at middling speeds. Where I live (Raleigh-Durham, NC) there are a million Teslas on the road. We own two of them ourselves and in my neighborhood alone there’s probably 20+ Model S and 3. I maybe have seen two I-Paces on the road that weren’t wearing dealer tags. Beyond the issues mentioned before with range and charging, I think the questionable reliability of Jaguar vehicles also keeps a lot of customers at bay. JLR’s horrid infotainment system also hurts the I-Pace, as does the US’ general lack of non-Tesla DCFC. As a current and former JLR owner I wanted to really like the I-Pace, but the driving dynamics and overall feature content just didn’t hit the mark for me. Hopefully a second generation I-Pace or a second EV product will address the biggest shortcomings and JLR will have a more dynamic product that will convince more people to buy it over a Tesla. I personally would love an affordable EV Jaguar sedan (like an XE, but a lot nicer inside).

I think Americans just ride Tesla’s jock just because as the warranty of the ipace makes it a great option. Elon musk is also not somebody I want to buy anything from as he is the biggest arse I know.
