"I've never had that happened before" are the words that came out my mouth after 10 minutes of emotions and crying that occurred halfway through. The power of the cello is clearly demonstrated here. Not just the cello, actually. The power of music, to touch our souls.

I am still fighting tears. A natural response as a man is to fight these feelings. But, I know that it is wisdom to not fight these feelings, especially when in the midst of such music. To deny our feelings while most likely the dead are looking down on us, is to insult them as well as all whom have cried and allowed themselves to feel instead of die inside..

I cannot listen to this music without experiencing a powerful emotional response- tears come oh so easily. I met Adam in the Portland, Oregon airport where he sat among the travelers with his cello, and the sounds he made stopped me in my tracks. I had not heard his music before this, I have heard nothing else since I got home in New York and played the CDs I bought from him, over and over. Adam's creations have captured me totally and it will be some time before I can go on from here.

Listening to the music that eminated was pleasing to her soul.. reminding her of better days yet also aware they were gone. Never to be repeated again.. never would she even contemplate opening her heart for the risk of what had been done by the wickedness of others who had tried to control her .. never again would she allow such a thing to happen again.. they who had disrespected everything she had worked so hard to overcome.. then throw it back in her face.. never would she ever trust those women again who thrived on jealousy and didn't even know in truth what they were jealous about .. the question of what is love.. all she knew was that it wasn't what she had seen from they at all. She had nothing to be jealous about towards them at all. They exemplified everything she didn't want to be at all. They didn't understand her at all. She didn't need a man to be fullfilled. She certainly didn't women who were like they in her life. She was just as angered by some of the men.. that was true. They had bragged about being being a frenemy to her... That had been actually said. Not that she cared that's why she had told them to go fuck themselves. She was over their immaturity and need to control.. especially when they lacked self control in themselves. Words could bring life or death.. that was true and they had brought words of death to her ever wanting such vile creatures in her life again. They who wanted to have some kind of moral or spiritual upper hand and yet they lacked the ability and maturity within their own lives. She had warned of the dangers more than once yet they didn't care at all. The cello was comforting to the sounds but would they ever remove the scars .. no she did believe they would. There is betrayl.. then there is betrayl that is repeated over and over again. That was not repentant at all. It seemed to her much of the world lacked a maturity to assess their own lives.. to be self aware and responsible for their own actions. She did not believe in a romantic love at all and that was due to the things she had witnessed. The things she had been put through.. she did not like emotional entanglement at all. She didn't like the coldness that some had either. When she listened to what others were looking for.. she tried to show understanding but also said it wasn't what she was looking for herself. She was not normally cold hearted despite the reputation she seemed to have had. Why it was expected though she should give her heart so easily was not understood. Especially by those who claimed to have been Masters.. that made no sense at all. To say a person couldn't be excited to see someone made no sense either.. there was a middle ground between the two. No, she had not been respected at all. Yet expected to accept what everyone else wanted which made no sense for her to personally want what was not her desired reality. She was ashamed of many people that was very real. Being a Master was not just about dominating over another person. A man could be dominant and yet not controlling. He could make it known what was wanted without being abusive and still respecting her needs.. because he understood her. Yet very few did. Yet she often found her comfort in the seemingly bad man.. weird but true. They who knew how to invoke the right amount of danger without making her feel unsafe.. they who had not harmed her but helped her to accept herself.. noone had the right to tell her who she could love and who she couldn't... She had plenty of reserves of anger left yet.. the energy surging under the surface if unleashed at full capacity would not be wanted in reality if they wanted the human race to survive.

I know someone's done this before, but I feel compelled to write a short story fitting this. The man stood near his window, peering coldly into the gray, gloomy skies. The soft tap of the rain dancing along the glass blurred his view, but he sought not what could be seen. "So many times," he spoke. "... maybe too many." The man collapsed to one knee, clutching his head. He was well in body, but a part of his spirit was crying in anguish. It was time for him to perform his duty to his country. He had seen it morph from the despotic monarchy it once was into the beautiful republic of France, serving the whole time. Such thoughts that he was doing the correct thing was no comfort to him as he stepped out of his office and into the courtyard. He cared not for the rain that mottled his silvery-blonde hair, nor what slaked off his black greatcoat. There was a crowd awaiting his arrival, and initally it was silent. Then one person shouted in praise, and another, and another, until the hundreds - perhaps thousands - of people were clamoring for the man. Such applause for a man of torn soul, unable to avoid the haunting memories of the people he had ended before. He strolled through a gap in the crowd, ignoring their cries as if his ears were muffled. He heard only heartbeats and the pattering of the rain as he approached a platform. Resting upon it were a guillotine, and in its clasp, a man accused. The criminal's face was one of panic, despair, and perhaps even anguish, despite not yet knowing the kiss of steel. As the man in the black coat took the stand, he whispered to himself, placing a burlap sack over the criminal's head to blot his vision. The pale-haired man halted and began to speak. "You, Marqe Ralies, have been found guilty of the crimes as follows..." The gentleman would receive a piece of parchment from one of the other figures there, supposedly the jailer, as he recited them. "Two counter of murder of the first degree, one count of thievery, one count of trespassing, and one count of attempted escape. For these crimes, the court has sentenced you... to death. May God have mercy upon your soul." With that, he rolled up the scroll of paper and turned to Ralies, who was still squirming like a worm upon a hook, shivering in terror. There was nothingness now. No applause. No pitter-patter of the rain upon his head. Nothing but the sound of a heartbeat. He pulled the lever, and the execution device sprang to life. The steel whisked away at Ralies' neck, ending him in an instant. There was no pain, no muffled scream, not even a pressure point as the criminal left this world, and with it, the heartbeat drumming in the executioner's ears. "May God have mercy upon your soul..." Solemnly, the executioner turned away and strolled through the crowd, vanishing amongst the once-again clamoring civilians as he faded once more. Many times had he been called to serve his country. Three thousand two hundred sixty-seven times had he been called. Three thousand two hundred sixty-six times too many. EDIT: If you can guess who the executioner is, you get a cookie.
