She released it by the looks of it, but she might have just inverted it (made it invisible for those who don't know). So I'm pretty ok with that:)

She’s not really concerned with Moghedian, it’s the others that worry her. The Spider is _faaar_ weaker in the power than Lanfear, which I take to mean that if she really wanted to, she could’ve broken that little trap and sent her hurtling through a wall. I think she _let_ Moghedian trap her, possibly in an effort to glean some knowledge as to the other Forsaken’s whereabouts, but most likely to figure out what the hell the Spider has stuck her fingers into now.

But no one can influence the dream like the spider. In an 1v1 moghedien would be crushed without preparation but she needed to keep weaving to keep her trapped. Also I think she just did it to confront her and than to have enough time to leave.

Setting aside everything wrong with this show (which is hard because everything is wrong in this show), if this confrontation took place in Tel’aron’rhiod, Moghedian is arguably more skilled there. Probably not so much more that she could best Lanfear face to face (particularly as lanfear preferred to enter physically and Moghedian found that too great a risk, and being there physically allows you greater control) but that could be forgiven. What cannot is that Moghedians was named the spider not because she was scheming and deadly, though she was, but because she ONLY operated in the dark corners. It’s a main facet of her character that she will never enter openly into confrontation, unless absolutely assured of victory. She would never, under any circumstance, openly attack lanfear so arrogantly and she’d be right to be afraid. Lanfear is as strong as it is possible for a woman to be and nearly as talented in the dream world as Moghedian. Lanfear would annihilate Moghedian in any open contest. I hate that they constantly shatter Jordan’s characters an toss the most important parts in the bin. It’s truly a terrible show and a godawful adaptation. I hate every writer and actor involved in this half assed cash grab.

I'm reading book 7 right now, and, without any spoilers, I am confused with how and why they chose Moghedien of all the Forsaken for this scene. Moghedien is by far the weakest qnd most pathetic of the Forsaken, and her in the books that will presumably be the source material for season 3 do not exactly tie her closely to Rand. Personally I'd have used one of the Forsaken who actually pursues or tries to ambush Rand in books 3-5 for this scene.

@@antiochus87 Absolutely. Graendal wouldn’t be able to shut down Lanfear like this and Graendal is significant stronger than Moghedian. Maybe Semirhage could make her wary enough to hold back just by reputation, but Lanfear would stomp Moghedian given the chance. Which is why Moghedian would never behave this way; she isn’t nearly strong enough. I’d buy this scene if it were Ishmael, Damodred, Sammael or Rhavin. Especially Rhavin, given that he’s as strong or stronger than Lanfear and Moghedians equal in Tel’aran’rhiod.

For those confused about how Moghedien beat Lanfear. Just think of how Batman defeated Superman by creating traps, tricks, weapons, and plans. Also, Moghedien has been shown in this scene to have an inferiority complex, which might be the show's reason for her joining the Dark One.

@@antiochus87 We know there are eight forsaken in the show. We've already seen Ishamael, Lanfear, and Moghedien. Lanfear mentioned Graendal during season 2. The other four should be Asmodean, Semirhage, Demandred, and Sammael. Be'lal did nothing but get himself balefire'd by Moiraine, so he's out. Aginor and Balthamel have already been cut, though I hope we see dreadlord versions of Aran'gar and Osan'gar. Rahvin is just a slightly more powerful and far less competent version of Sammael, and while Mesaana ties in with Egwene's arc, she's just not as important as the others.

@@matthewhelland9258 I wasn't aware of the limit of eight for the show (or had forgotten). I guess considering the huge changes in the first few seasons we should expect more. Yes Be'lal just got balefired by Moraine, though I still think he could have been used more in the TV adaption, even as a miniboss to build up the Stone of Tear arc more than in Book 3. There's definitely enough backstory to flesh him out. But that's a moot point now if they're only doing eight. I think you're probably right, and I guess the others will be merged into those eight in the show. I guess Morghedian could also take on Masaana's role (which I think is quite important re tbe Black Ajar). They also might make the Morghedian scene make far more sense than the role she actually plays in the books.

That’s not true. Jordan very clearly stated Moghedian as the most adept in TAR. Brigitte also says so in the books. She can take things from TAR and make them real in the waking world, spies on the other forsaken undetected and turns Brigitte into a little girl to mention just a few things. Ishmael and Lanfear are great there by all means - Lanfear claims she’s the best even - but they’re not actually the most adapt there. This isn’t about power it’s about skill.

Lanfear: "Where are the others?" Moghedien: 🤷‍♂️ I think up until that moment Lanfear was afraid the other Forsaken were hidden in the room or very nearby. 6 Forsaken would have destroyed her if she fought them. When Moghedien shrugged, she knew it was just Moghedien and that she was far stronger than her. So she attacked with the fireball to kill her. But Lanfear underestimated the Spider, who has laid the weaves for her trap already before Lanfear entered the room. Lanfear is caught off guard, and is trying to put on a foreboding presence because she isn't really sure if Moghedien is going to kill her for betraying Ishamael. So much going on in this scene. 😍

Graendal is up there, scary and competent but maybe her role could be accomplished by Lanfear or Moggy? Demandred is awesome in the last battle but he may as well only exist in the last battle. Semirhage is one of the hardest hitting Forsaken particularly for Rand, she does the most damage to him personally and I love that, but again, she may as well only exist for the ending of Knife Of Dreams and then Gathering Storm. Could her role be done by someone else? maybe. Asmodean is another character who I like in Fires Of Heaven, but he serves a similar role to Logain teaching Rand in season 2 (sorta) I feel that some merging of Asmodean with Logain or Taim would be practical.

I like how the show did this, despite Lanfear's obvious strength 1(+12) to Moggy's 4(+9). It's always, with RJ: Dexterity in weaving and strength are always set against each other; they weren't at a contest of wills; surprise and such are next. Moggy had her for a second, even though Lanfear could crush her without batting an eye. Moggy was cooped-up, spent a lot of time on that weave, just waiting for Lanfear to fall into a trap. Good forshadowing. Now, let's see tel'aran'rhiod.

The amount of One Power a channeler can hold isn’t the only thing that defines strength. Sure, Lanfear has much more raw strength compared to Moghedien. But Moghedien has other qualities that can make her stand on her own facing Lanfear. She won’t choose to face Lanfear unless she’s absolutely sure she can win. She’s quite sneaky and she can lay a lot of traps. She probably inverted the weave so Lanfear couldn’t see it until Moghedien wanted her to see. Anyway, I love moghedien and I hope she’ll meet her new best friend, Nynaeve!

It's interesting how people think that Mogedhien could defeat Lanfear. Don't trust scenes that are made only as cliffhangers... This scene is only here to add some shock and interest to what's to come. Lanfear is far more stronger. Mogedien is among the weakest of them, maybe even the last in their ranks... 😂 Wait until you see Demandred, Graendal and others who are on top of the food chain 🔥

I enjoyed the entrance of Mogedhien, but in NO WAY shows Lanfear any fear. No way, not in front of the Spider who hides most of the time. I hope they portray Lanfear as badass as in the other Episodes!

I'm reading book 7 right now, and, without any spoilers, I am confused with how and why they chose Moghedien of all the Forsaken for this scene. Moghedien is by far the weakest qnd most pathetic of the Forsaken, and her in the books that will presumably be the source material for season 3 do not exactly tie her closely to Rand. Personally I'd have used one of the Forsaken who actually pursues or tries to ambush Rand in books 3-5 for this scene.

There's a saying, "You can't plan for crazy". Lanfear might be stronger, but she walked into that room with her guard down and Moghedien got the drop on her. You can clearly see she's not the least bit intimidated by Moghedien herself, but more what she represents: the all the rest of the Forsaken are free and they all know she betrayed Ishamael. And six against one probably isn't the best of odds, even for Lanfear.

Because Moghedien was probably completely prepared to do this? She knows how powerful Lanfear is compared to her so maybe she put every string in place so that Lanfear wouldn't be able to do anything. And even then she keeps weaving until she disappears.

Season 1 was a dogshit. I understand the covid restriction made it a hell to produce, but still, it had so many problems I rated in 2/10. S02 on the other hand is completely different beast, and S02E05 (Damane) was the best piece of fantasy I saw in perhaps a decade. From absolute hater to a complete funboy, bring that S03 on! Btw i still think its very rushed and they should have gone for 12ep per serie, not 8.

Moghedien is sneaky, she probably set the trap earlier, since she was playing with the weaves in her hands. Lanfear was caught off guard, but she is definitely stronger (except in the dream world)

Two things: I don’t think the “fear” we saw was Lanfear being afraid of Moggy. It was likely more shock that she was freed, especially when, to the last of lanfear’s knowledge, the seals were going to be thrown out into the ocean. And 2, Lanfear may be stronger than Moggy, but she doesn’t know where the rest of them are. She was caught off guard once. Doesn’t make sense to start a fight when you walked into a trap and don’t know where the others are. It worked for me and doesn’t contradict canon at all!

Lanfear wasn’t showing fear here. She literally was caught off guard at Moghedien being awakened and walking into her trap. Setting traps and throwing the first blow is all Moghedien is capable off when encountering anyone stronger than her. Otherwise she’d never gain the upper hand. This also could be the Dreamworld where Moghedien’s powers are powerful.

In the books, Moghedien was a coward who would never confront one of the others (stronger than her) like this. She might sneak up from behind, but if she'd shield one of them she'd do the shield *first* and then reveal herself. But of course, the show only uses the names from the source material, not personalities, traits, powers, or....such....
