5:00 - The most disappointing move by MLS in the 21 years I've followed it. You couldn't ignore it so a quick comment and "well, let's move on". This sucks. You know it sucks. The league and owners should be ashamed of themselves robbing us loyal supporters of this grand 109 tradition. My club, Cincinnati, likely wouldn't even be in MLS without that magical cup run of 2017 as a USL side. This decision should be reversed immediately. There is nothing redeeming about it. For the first time I will boycott something in this league by not attending the Leagues Cup (which caused this fixture congestion problem). I am sickened and the fact you sit there, bite your tongue? Pathetic, and my estimation if every man at that table has diminished today. Long time fan of extra time (I remember the days of Greg and Borg) and this really makes me debate bothering continuing that. You take people for granted and see us as obedient docile consumers and there will be push back.

The scheduling congestion argument is nonsense. Generally speaking, the better the MLS team, the more games they play during the course of the year. Playing a lot of games is a privilege. If coaches don't want their players to play 3 games in a week, they can do squad rotation and give players farther down the depth chart minutes which might improve squad depth. $$$ was the reason for this decision.

And what congestion there is was added by Garber and SUM with the Leagues Cup, which will soon have to expand its footprint for travel to Mexico or face a boycott by LMX clubs (SUM already lost the lucrative USMNT rights, so the MMNT and Leagues Cup are their biggest moneymakers).

What MLS (the owners and Apple probably too) did is antithetical to the sport and shameful. Decisions like this hurt supporters, the entire American club soccer community, and its growth. Not to mention, To add insult to injury, they know how negatively received their choice was that they would force anyone who works under them (such as the ExtraTime guys) to stay quiet and tow the company line when they are quite VISIBLY TROUBLED BY THIS TOO. The League only wants to focus on being a circus with Messi as the main act to make the most money as possible. They have no intention on growing the game or even their own teams anymore as the roster rules announcements are cowardly. Overall, I've never been more disappointed in this league, one that I've been a fan of for so long in spite of naysayers and derision to be a part of the growth of the sport in our country, Now, I have been questioning whether any of that was worth it and if I really want to continue involving myself with this league. What a shame.

This show/podcast is a joke and has been that since its inception. A controlled mouthpiece for MLS. That brief mention about MLS pulling out of US Open Cup was more about patting themselves on the back as "post game" show (still MLS accolades). No serious reporting/coverage here to see if it isn't MLS. The CNN of American soccer coverage. At least CBS Golazo makes an effort to have balance and constructive criticism. They spent so much time about a draft. MLS still has a draft like its the NFL or NBA. MLS the gold standard of soccer in America. Yeah, right!!! MLS makes more money by playing against Mexican clubs than it does in the US Open Cup. Full stop. Period. End of discussion. Garber is showing that $$$ rules all in MLS 3.0, and with the MLB-style clocks for timing various things, don't be surprised if we go back to countdown timing. Frankly, I'm losing my taste for MLS, which is fast becoming the AEW of sports (if you know, you know).

I mean I expected you guys to toe the company line about the Open Cup but that was some weak tea nonsense. I'm canceling my Apple TV subscription (it barely worked for me anyway). I remember seeing the Columbus Crew in 1999 and dreaming of what this league could be. I’m in favor of this move with the Open Cup since MLS teams just played their best squads in the final rounds and always win. I’d like to see a team below the top tier win the Open Cup. It’s just not a fair competition. MLS clubs have their own cups; I’d like to see a good USL team win and I think it would be great for US soccer as a whole since it’s cynical for everyone to celebrate MLS winning year after year given the budget disparities involved.
