Hi Henry, I'm rather missing traveling as times goes along, so I'm very happy to know that my visits here are the next best thing. Even though we do the walking video's ourselves, we enjoy watching other peoples even more. I guess it's the element of surprise it gives in not quite knowing what's around the corner. I do think such films are valuable and we often enjoy turning off Netflix and taking a virtual vacation! Ah we can but dream of the inspiring places we'll go but for now this is a happy interlude. Thank you for all your hard work, I know there's a lot goes into it all.

The keelboat "Mandan" you walked by along the riverfront of Fort Benton is a replica built for the 1952 movie "Big Sky." The movie starred Kirk Douglas, Dewey Martin, Elizabeth Threatt, and Arthur Hunnicutt. It's one of the best movies ever made about the Upper Missouri fur trade. I encourage you to travel north to the Highline (U.S. Highway 2) sometime and visit Havre, Chinook, and, especially, Bear Paw Battlefield. The battlefield has a great walking trail that would be a great addition to your history and travel videos. J.J.

My Grandmother had an old record titled "Old Shep." It was an Elvis Presley6 and he sand "Old Shep was a good dog as good doggies go...". That is all I remember. Her dog had passed away and she played it when she felt sad about that (I think). Secondly, the trips around Montana -- exactly what I've been thinking about where I live: I call them "Day Trips" or places you can go in one day, although occasionally one might have to spend one night. In these times when gas is expensive and so is everything else, short day trips might be the thing to do. Lastly, I was enjoying the walk but you started talking about the people in the small towns aren't the political persuasion you thought they were. It spoils the walk a bit. I wasn't thinking politics at all until then, but what is it like to think it all the time? Oy vay.

Uh I think next time you should indulge in getting to know the general political population. Maybe don't make assumption comments about political signs. Also at 4 pm in rural town in Montana no one is yet out walking. We're working on ranches and farms or still at the town jobs if you happen to work in town. We build America so dudes like you can make you tube videos all day.
@CityWalks2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kristi, thanks for the feedback. KZbin is actually a side gig for me in addition to a company I started. I value the role of farmers and ranchers play in our society and certainly the self-reliance mixed with the eagerness to help their neighbors and to build their communities. I also value the work I do myself even if others don’t. Most people in any rural areas tend to be kind, understanding people, regardless where in the word they are, in my experience. If you thought I was criticizing you or your community, I apologize as that was not my intent. My comments about walking are still true, compared to other countries I've visited. The US is a car culture by choice in urban areas and by necessity in rural areas. We rarely walk to the grocery store or to run simple errands because everything is spread out and it would be impractical. Secondly, rural areas tend to be more conservative world wide, again, per my experience. That is not an insult or a bad thing. It simply is. I believe that when we buy into the “us vs them” drama that plays out in the news and social media, we are being used. My reality is that most people are kind and helpful regardless of our political opinions. Again, I enjoy exploring the small towns of Montana and the US and I actually live in one. I regret that you may have thought otherwise. I hope this clarifies things. All the best to you and your community and I’ll keep recommending Fort Benton as a place to visit. -H
