My great great great great grandfather guarded the mail route between Fort Clark and Fort Stockton as a Texas Ranger in the early 1870s. He served under Captain Richarz. I would give anything to be able to own one of those homes someday

My family spent our summer vacations at Fort Clark, from the early 1950's through about 1965. I was born after the first trips and was pretty young when we stopped going but I have some very fond memories. Loved the pool and the grounds. As an adult I visited the old fort several times and have stayed there over night once while heading to Marfa. I was disappointed, the accommodations were less than I had expected. I wouldn't stay again unless they clean the place up and really get the rooms in good shape. Having said that, if they do, I'll be the first to make a reservation. It's got so much potential it would be a shame not to restore it back to its glory days.

I have been living in the fort for 3 years. It's filled with spirits and that comesary building is very creepy. Currently the creek is dried due to drought but it's is beautiful none the less. It's a pretty haunted but it's gorgeous out here.

My father inlaw grew up here, his mom was born here around 1900. I recently bought a home several yrs ago in FCS after retiring. I found paradise after moving here. So quiet. Wildlife and wonderful neighbors is all I have. I would never live anywhere else.

It would look great with a Confederate States of America and Bonnie Blue Flag raised high on the facility when Texas secedes from the despotic tyranny of the Federal Union in the year 2023 A.D.

The Federal Union Texas desperately wanted to be a part of, as it had no trappings of a successful, sovereign nation. Santa Anna was still a threat & the Comanches were truly "The Lords of the Plains"; hence Fort Clark & all the other "Federal" military posts in the state. Back in this century, please explain how all of those military installations around the state today would peacefully & easily transfer to Texas hands; & who would pay for their upkeep going forward? A Texas Navy? A Texas Air Force? A Texas nuclear capability? All VERY expensive. A seceded Texas population can say goodbye to its Social Security checks, Medicare, Medicaid, Affordable Health Care; & all the other "Federal" benefits many enjoy, including oil & gas & farming & business subsidies. Does a seceded Texas compete w/China economically? Are Texans ready to use passports just to gamble in Oklahoma or Louisiana? Do Colorado & New Mexico shut off the flow of, or dam the Rio Grande so a foreign country doesn't use "Federal" water? Don't forget the commercial consequences as well. Texas would now be a foreign country to the rest of America. That quite possibly will mean shipping & import & export tariffs, making life in Texas more expensive. Additionally, many major corporations HQ'ed here could likely leave this new, foreign country & take thousands of jobs & hundreds of millions in economic activity w/them. Speaking of money, how much would a Texas dollar be worth on the world market? It's quite likely that many of these people favoring secession also prefer a gold standard of currency. Does Texas have that much gold; or will it just shut up & issue paper like everyone else; or will it continue using those despised Dead Presidents? I'm for staying Texan & American.
