I really believed they were going to go in that direction up until the end of the movie. I was so disappointed when they didn't. I thought the character was a gem. In a way, isnt forte’s relationship with the beast a parallel to an abusive relationship? :c
@ZimVader-00175 жыл бұрын
Yes. The way he wiggled himself into Adam's (the Beast) life and tried to make sure that he was the only one who he trusted, and the way he practically isolated him is similar to how an abuser will keep a vulnerable person (be it a spouse, son/daughter, patient, etc) under their control. Adam was, what, 11-12 years old when the curse was made? So this conditioning has been going on for a while.

It's sad that he couldn't find some happiness as a human & then became so angry & bitter. He ended up destroying himself. Plus he was obviously insane from his power over Beast too, because while it definitely would stop Beast from falling in love if he was dead, it didn't occur to him that once Beast was dead nobody at all would appreciate his music. Also, the curse was to teach Beast a lesson so if he was dead there would be no reason for the Enchantress to keep the spell on the rest of the castle & he would be turned human again anyway. Then he would certainly be out of a job, maybe put in prison if the others realized he killed their master on purpose. So even if he was that angry & selfish, logic should've stopped him from trying to kill Beast & Belle.
@adnilnosnhoj5 жыл бұрын
Good points. If he had stopped and thought about it more carefully, I think he could have lured Belle into the chamber as he did, and began to play sad music for her. He could have manipulated her just like he had manipulated the Beast because she was missing her father. Had he used that to keep her sad and depressed, chances are neither Belle or the Beast would have fallen in love and Forte would have doubled his audience. Now,t since it was made clear after THIS video was made that all the servants would have turned completely into what they had been transformed into, I think Forte was not aware of this. If he had, he would have reluctantly accepted the idea of becoming human again. I do believe though that had he not died and the Beast would forgive him, he could have remained a valuable member of the court. At least that's how I would write it.

I wonder if Forte’s view would have changed if he realized that by failing to break the enchantment in time, they all would become what they appeared in truth, not just shape. Obviously he didn’t care at the very end, but before it got to that point, would he have reconsidered? Knowing that, without Belle’s influence, he would have become nothing more than a lifeless pipe organ, a collection of dusty pipes sitting in a desolate, forgotten castle, empty save for a mindless animal prowling the halls and shoving aside broken furniture and shattered dish ware, all semblance of humanity long lost, bereft even of the music that once soothed him. No more music, no more master to serve. Just the roar of a twisted beast curled in his den, attacking any who stumble upon the ruins.
@mement0m0ri862 жыл бұрын
Forte saying to Fife: “She pulls him (Beast) from my grasp”. Not really an attraction to Adam like I’ve read in so many fanfic, but more like a desire of manipulating to get the attention and the acknowledgement he ever wanted. It is a relationship based on manipulation. Forte dominates the Master. And before it was the Master who dominated Forte. We have here a perfect sample of the Karpman dram triangle: victim, rescuer, persecutor. Before the enchantment, Forte is both a victim and persecuted. Adam persecuted him and “rescued” him by being the dominator with his high status as a Prince. And after the enchantment, the roles change. Forte is the rescuer and persecutor and the Beast the victim. And Forte finds a total control in this role. It gives me a sense to his Life. He is admitted both as an artist and as a person. Something makes me think he has fought his whole life to have people’s attention for his person as a whole. And Belle, a young person, breaks what he’s been built for years in no time. This is a recurrent issue in Disney’s movies. A young people who, in no time, breaks what the “old” person has made in years. He couldn’t accept that the Beast needed more than music or friendship. Just love and someone that could shake him up. Maestro couldn’t be this person. No love or sexual attraction in that. Just a game Maestro tried to play to follow as he could the social contract. Maestro is genuinely aware of the superficiality of our society. Knowing that he couldn’t never change it made him fall in cynicism and misanthropy. The Beast was his last hope not to face his doom. By falling in love of Belle, the Beast sounded Forte’s death knell.

Forte’s music is ahead of it’s time, in our standards it maybe seem beautiful in its own way, but in his era, it was seen as gloomy as it’s different from the norm Belle herself was looked down on from being different And other great artists like Mozart and in painting Van Gogh weren’t truly appreciated until after they died Forte is like that in that regard, he was a unappreciated genius that got into his way in Prince Adam’s court But He wasn’t appreciative for his work It’s not that easy for an artist to go to other styles, especially those that want to be different, want to create and explore For art is expression, Forte like any artist wanted to create his own music and have it appreciated by others, especially his Master the Prince On Christmas, he went out of his way to create an original peace in the Prince’s honor, but was rejected and saw as gloomy Then the enchantment came Forte being reborn as his own instrument was a dream come true, he can create like never before, to be truly one with music What’s more, his work was finally being appreciated by Beast whose suffering depression Like many depressed people today find comfort in music, Beast found comfort in the work he once rejected Forte finally wasn’t just being appreciated, he was needed, becoming the Beast’s friend and confidante the last 10 years Then Belle came and threatened to take it all away Forte loved his form, not only having an eternal lifespan, and power, he also is one with his art, and his position made him needed by Beast If the enchanting ends and Beast is happy, Forte is no longer needed, like before He became mad in desperation, trying to keep Beast depressed and dependent on him by either killing Belle or alienating her from Beast, when neither work, he was desperate enough to try destroy everything in his madness which led to his Tragic end

@GanonGhidorah5 жыл бұрын
I get that Forte is insane, but during the climax of the film I can't help but focus on the fact that he wasn't thinking clearly. His entire claim to power is by having a close relationship to the Master - manipulating him as it were...He wants the curse to remain, so that he can maintain that power and relevance...BUT...at the end, he's willing to kill both Belle AND the Beast to stop the curse from being lifted. ...What exactly was he planning to do if he succeeded and both of them died? For the one thing...the only person who listened to him or even liked him would now be dead, and everyone else in the castle would've lost their only hope at being human again. Needless to say, I'm pretty sure they'd abandon Forte to his own isolated room in the castle and he'd never see another living soul again. Then what would his plan have been if Belle died but the Beast survived? Did he really think the Master would be content with letting Belle's murderer exist in his castle? All I'm saying, no matter what happens - all of this ends badly for him.
@IsaacCarlson5 жыл бұрын
I completely agree and I kind of think part of him maybe knew that. I think he would rather be destroyed then ever become an insignificant human again; it's kind of a dark idea but as you explained no matter what he was going to lose in some way.
@adnilnosnhoj5 жыл бұрын
IMHO, I think being bolted to the wall, like a prisoner hanging from a dungeon wall, drove the sensitive artist insane. The ONLY comfort HE had in this way was the comfort he gave Adam through his music. As a human, he had mobility and freedom but no one appreciated him or validated his talent. He now had someone "love" him, and not just anyone -it was a royal! The master of the house in fact! What a rush to the ego! If he had not been isolated in the darkness, if the other servants besides Fife had visited him regularly, he might have stayed focused on the benefits to returning to humanity, but as we know that did not happen. Once he realized he had no control over the beast, he had a complete nervous breakdown. He lost all sense of what he was actually doing. He was acting out of absolute pain. In his eyes, he had spent 10 years as a prisoner hanging on a dungeon wall, only to be kicked to the curb forgotten and alone. It wasn't returning to humanity he dreaded, it was returning to a life of loneliness and obscurity. Had Disney just taken an extra 3-5 minutes, they could have had Beast assure him that he would always think of him as a valued friend. Belle could have told him it was alright if he didn't like all the cheeriness to Christmas, that she understood not everyone is into all that. Then when they go back to the next Christmas, where Mrs. Potts was retelling the story, and Adam cues for the music, you see Forte at the party as well, but smugly yet gently hands the honors to Fife.

+Wotso Videos Awesome discussion about Maestro Fotre. Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas is one of my favourite Disney Christmas movies. Forte is one of the most sadistic direct-to-video villains I really love to hate, with the second being Zira from The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. I hope you have a wonderful Merry Christmas, Isaac. I can't wait for more new videos in 2019. I have some ideas for you that you can do for future videos.

Cool thing about pipe organs: Despite being built to be a "one-man orchestra," in medieval times before electric motors, they needed a full staff manning the bellows. Forte in his enchated form would be the first man to truly be a solo orchestra, a fact he no doubt revelled in. Even better, he didn’t have the human limitations of which keyboards he could access and could play foot pedals as easily as the finger panels. Any organist would kill for such an opportunity, even if it meant effective imprisonment. You see, because the organ is such a massive, expensive, and grand instrument, they were associated exclusively with churches and nobility. If you could play the organ on your own and had the ABILITY to play dissonance on a pipe organ, it effectively meant you had *the power of God.* So it makes perfect sense how Forte loves his new form and why he was able to manifest so much power in it. Despite being the most confined out of anyone, he is in his version of paradise, and actually doesn't really care about the Beast, he just wants to enjoy eternity playing whatever he wants, whenever he wants, and needs nobody to help him.

The movie, as a whole, definitely isn’t very good, but I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t like Forte. He represents a scenario in Beaty and the Beast that’s actually pretty interesting: What if someone in the castle _didn’t_ want the spell to be broken?

So... At the end of Beauty And The Beast, does Forté's wreckage turn into his mangled corpse? o_0 Also, it seems as if the Beast and Forté kind of both messed each other up. By being an ungrateful brat earlier, I think the Beast led Forté to expect him to stop caring about him the moment he didn't need him, and totally forget how he was there for him in the early days of the enchantment. Really, seeing as Belle's relationship was teaching Beast to be a better person than he had been, it's likely he actually would have still been grateful, and still kept some appreciation for him and his work when they were men. Though I guess it's always possible Forté just didn't care. In any case, it seems being snubbed does things to you if you're a Disney character. It was what made the likes of Gaston, Scar, Syndrome and Frollo turn to villainy. Seems Quasimodo's one of the few immune to that sort of thing, which is especially surprising seeing as he was actively told he was garbage, not just overlooked. Though maybe that just squashed any possibility in his mind that he even had hope of getting any respect through evil. Yoiks.

With Forte in the lives of Belle and the beast this is still kind of Stockholm syndrome so far during Belle's imprisonment with the beast in a back and forth twisted bad time at Christmas I think to believe so maybe the beast misunderstood Belle leaving him again but she was actually trying to get a perfect Christmas tree for the castle but that very bad Forte lied to him and the beast goes off to find Belle saving her from the icy water that Belle lost the tree thanks to naïve Fife loyal to Forte and just to put down there for you Isaac in case if you probably didn't put there on your video is that after the beast saved Belle from icy water cracked broken ice pond, the beast then put her in the dungeon for abandoning him Belle tried to explain to him but he wouldn't believe her Belle knew that he never meant anything but a beast for she tried to see the good in him faithfully this cause pain for Belle to bear of this again Stockholm syndrome thing ever since she came to the castle to free her dad from the beast she's trapped of this unfair fate all because of the beast's foolish careless actions had caused all this fatal curse at the beginning as later on the beast was about to agree with Forte to destroy the enchanted rose giving up his goal to regain his humanity until he found his present gift storybook from Belle he realized his mistake so he free Belle from the dungeon their friendship is restored in a ok positive way. Forte decided to kill the couple if he can't have the beast then no one can but the beast defeats him and Forte is then destroyed as causing his death Forte has a villainous nature but the beast felt sad for his poor dead friend. the beast moves on and him with Belle and everyone celebrates Christmas even in the same hard times there still hope for the beast and Belle of their relationship one another indeed so far.
