Running from Bowling through to Falkirk where it attaches onto the Union Canal and across to Edinburgh, you can walk, cycle or run from one side of Scotlands central belt from one side to the other without touching a road along the canal ways.
In this short section I wanted to go for a walk near the Maryhill area where there was lot of locks to look at and a bit of wildlife.
I hope that you enjoy watching and please leave a comment if you want to see more or what you thoughts of this episode. I would love to hear from you.

Such great videography - the canal - the quality of the film - the commentary. Like a TV show. A movie. Poignant music. Make me want to go visit Scotland right away. Good job!

Hi I find it very relaxing walking along these paths and just taking the time in the early morning to just stop and look at some of the wildlife or the sound of the water in the locks. Very peaceful and sometimes it's nice to sing and just feel great about the day. Thanks for watching Stay safe and look after yourself 👍😁👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🥾🥾

The canals are great for people wanting to just go for a stroll or cycle miles and miles and explore new sights. I just love how these were such an important trade route and all man made and even if there was a railway line or major river that didn't stop the canal routes and the engineering process. That's really cool about being in Still Game. What a show lol. Always good for a chuckle. Thanks for watching. Hi dee duumm dee diddle I dummm lol Stay safe 👍😁👍🥾🥾🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

It's a great place to go for a walk and watch the world float by lol. Its a brilliant waterway system and all man made as well. So much engineering goes into a system like this. The towpaths are awesome for going for some easy walking or more lengthy cycling cutting across the country. Spring is a wonderful season and when I feel like singing I just can't help myself lol I could be the next Michael Bubbles lol Thanks for watching Take care 👍😁👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🥾🥾🥃

Hi Scott. Enjoyed that👍 I always find canal walks interesting. Each one has its own quirks of engineering, and they're great wildlife corridors! Will have to keep an eye out for Still Game, as I've never watched it👍 All the best, mate👍😊

Hi Des I did actually have yourself in mind with regards to the canals. I know you enjoy a walk along them and really appreciate their history and how important they were. Fabulous systems. The wildlife can be so varied from the birds to fish and insects that skate across them. As for Still Game. Its so funny. Very Glasgow humour at times but if you can catch it on Netflix or Dvd then give it a go. Glaswegians always play the game of 'I know where that is' Much like the crime show Taggart lol If there is a set location you know you have to shout.. Ive been there or I know where that is lol.. Its like an unwritten law 😂😂😂👍👍 Thanks for giving it a look Look after yourself. Speak soon 👍😁👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🥾🥾🥃

Great relaxed and informative documentary, Scott. I love the canals. Magnet fishing I've seen done in Amsterdam and USA. One couple of guys in the states locate cars andhelp the police solve sad missing persons cases. They go in with diving suits etc. I loved that ripple reflection under the white tunnel btw. I'm sort of glad the piece to camera didn't include any high-heeled leg kicks as you gave us the benefit of your singing , lol! Take care and don't fall in if you're doing any barge-pole dancing! Mmm. Magnet fishing...

Oh my god.. So many puns.. Love it lol 😂😂 As for my singing. I have sold out Carnegie Hall.. I'll have you know... Oh forgot to mention that it's only in my dreams that's happened..🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ The canals are brilliant and a great starting place for people to get walking or into cycling where it is a bit safer. It annoys me though that the train lines were there yet just went to rack and ruin after they were closed. The magnet fishing is done in the UK and a few guys do well on YT with what they find. The divers have been in near the bridge at Lock 27 after things were found that shouldn't be there. It would be interesting to get a closer look at what lies beneath. There must be phones, sunglasses and even wallets as well that have fallen over boats etc Sometimes though on a walk you have to have a sing song and just enjoy a stunning crisp Spring day. Positivity all the way. Hope all is well. Thanks for watching aa always and supporting Stay safe sir 👍😁👍🥾🥾🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🥃

@@ScottsLand Maybe worth investigating those magnets, buddy. I wonder what the permissions are for rivers, lochs and canals. Can you imagine the thrill of dragging up a claymore!?!? Or a sassanach’s sunspecs!😂Have a super week buddy!

A nice brisk early morning walk Scott been along that canal many a time when I used to work in the Kelvindale papermill all gone now. the Maryhill coat of arms was a picture of the canal with the train running under it and over the river Kelvin if that makes sense . Take care and enjoy your exploits. ATB 👍🎥

Hi Bill I knew there was a paper mill around that area but not a 100% sure on where exactly I think it was on Kelvindale Road Am I right?🤔 Im a big fan of the canals system and as you know they are great for walkers of all abilities. Brilliant systems. Sorry for the sing song at the end. When it's such a nice morning and positivity is in the air why not have sing song to some Michel bubbles lol Hope all is well with you.
