for those who didnt understand the constructive interferance. 34:55 -> here n denotes the positive of where the electrion will be [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and so on] NOTE THEY ARE DISCRETE. ->as we increase the n value, meaning we are moving from a ground state to an excited state to an exceited state and so on, as we increwase the n value, we are increasing the excitation of atom ->but as the excitation increases, photon is absorbed because the energy [photon] is required to move to a higher state -> increasing the n value increases the wavelength, [which in turn increases the radius] so it increases the circumference

@@Rajbirsingh-ef5mb You could say that since the Bohr model is like an introduction quantum mechanics where Maxwell Theory describes the classical E&M.

Great lecture. The obvious objection that occurred to me is that 0 is also an integer. So nothing in the quantization of angular momentum actually prohibits the electron from actually plummeting all the way to the nucleus and having zero angular momentum there. It only prohibits intermediate levels.

Can you please explain why electron does not radiate energy as electromagnetic waves when they are in stable orbit. Is it because of constructive interference? If yes than how?

@aflow-
@aflow- Жыл бұрын
The electron does not radiate energy as electromagnetic waves when they are in a stable orbit because it is in a quantum state with a fixed energy level. Electrons are like waves that move around the nucleus. They can only be in certain places where the wave fits the circle. These places have fixed energy and are called energy levels. When electrons are in these places, they do not lose or gain energy by making light. This is because there is no other place with lower energy for them to go to. The wave adds up to itself in these places, making the electron more likely to be there. The wave cancels out itself in other places, making the electron less likely to be there. This is why electrons do not radiate in their stable orbits.

If electron accelerates then it produces electro magnetic wave, right?
@aflow-
@aflow- Жыл бұрын
@@Kartikgrover000 Yes, that is correct. An electron that accelerates produces electromagnetic waves. This is because the electric field of the electron changes when it accelerates, and this change propagates as a wave at the speed of light. The frequency and intensity of the electromagnetic wave depend on the magnitude and direction of the acceleration. This phenomenon is called synchrotron radiation or bremsstrahlung radiation, depending on the context.

@@aflow- and so why will it not losse energy if it produces em waves How does the condition of L=nh/2π stops electron from radiating energy as em wave

I'm wondering about the connection between angular momentum and the action. Because they have the same dimensions, and this appears to work very conveniently. But it doesn't seem that the circular orbit could really be correct. So I am still trying to picture what the electron is really doing, that would have this quantized action, but is not a circular orbit.
