Very concisely explained. Helpful video. Just a correction at some points in the end that the half-life being talked about is of the nucleus & not the @-particle. The Geiger-Nuttal Law can also be written as: ln ¥= B1 ln E + B2, where ¥= decay constant (lambda), B1 & B2 are constants for different series of transmissions.

What does E refers to exactly, I am confused, the nucleons are moving inside the nucleus so the kinetic energy isn't constant all along, but maximum when the potential is zero and minimum when the potential is maximum, is the constant E here refers to the maximum kinetic energy?!

Hello, i have a question, why does the electron has to tunnel through a coulomb barrier once it is out of the nucleus? Shouldn't it only have to tunnel through the nuclear force barrier?
@tikeswarghugar1733
@tikeswarghugar1733 3 жыл бұрын
Sir the energy of alpha particle is measured inside the nucleus or outside the nucleus i.e the calculated value is 4 to 9 Mev outside or inside I don't know actually. If it is calculated outside the nucleus then perhaps it is produced inside the nucleus with more energy than the potential barrier . So when it comes from the nucleus after passing the barrier it's energy decrease to 4 to 9 Mev . Please clarify me
