Thanks for showing how the Mayan Train works. By the way! It is interesting how they claim that the train Mayan is destroying the eco system, and yet the environmentalists never mention Vulcan (US mining company) or the out of control construction in resort areas like Cancun or Playa del Carmen
@FRANCISCOORTEGA-ih1wn4 ай бұрын
Hi, were you here 30 or so years ago when Vulcan was at its peak ?, I was, yes there were complaints from enviromentalists but with a corrupt government it went ahead, same with Maya Train, judges issued a stop work order and the president ignored it,, corruption is everywhere and that is dangerous to build a public transport train. Same for the construction in the whole area, and again, corruption. Having the military in charge is no difference, military is as corrupt or even more. What Vulcan did to the environment is peanuts compared to the damage done on the construction of the train, search it, 30 times worse, but is not ending there the damage will be permanent and progressive . The steel jacket that covers the columns is iron, oxidizing and contaminating the pristine waters of the subterranean rivers. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKini6WmfayZfck&pp=ygUVaW5nIHdpbGJlcnRoIGVzcXVpdmVs

Hola David, 🙏 Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts! Definitely, there have been thousands of hectares destroyed to build resorts and hotels in the area. We need to be more open that projects like this one, will have an environmental impact no matter what, it is sad that they did not do it properly as it is sad what they have done for the cenotes. Well the purpose of our video was 99% to show the function of this project. Thank you again for watching and commenting. 🫶

Also more than 85% was already on federal area already assigned to be used for roads or electrification beside the existing highways , that means there was no nature already in this area, plus only the tramo 5 was really impacting, and is funny they complain about it, and when they did the new highway GDL to Puerto Vallarta destroying more nature, everybody was celebrating to get in 2 hrs 45 minutes instead 4 hours 30 minutes. and no claim about nature, plus as you mentioned, resorts in Cancun and Calica the amercan mining company which destroyed a lot, really a lot of nature
@JorgeGarcia-mh5il4 ай бұрын
Just a comment....back in the 60s CAN CUN was a village of 300 people and nobody complained about the destruction when hotels, highways, parks , schools , avenues , restaurants, and the jungle was destroyed....THE OPPOSITION to Lopez Obrador is actually the one started with this cheap politics about the maya train ......also nobody talk about Black rock destroying thousands of acres mining and destroying the jungle without any benefit for the locals....but themselfs . on the other hand this administration is providing hundreds of thousands jobs for the whole riviera maya locals..that's a big difference , at the end of the day the benefit is greater than the concerned some complained about it. !!
@FRANCISCOORTEGA-ih1wn4 ай бұрын
@@ingrafaelcobas So if they have done that it is ok to keep destroying everything ? but wait if it was a hospital, homes for the needy, schools, it may be justified, but just because one presidentito wanted a train and in the process keep money from it, c´mon.

Sorry to spoil it, things are not pumping, a very very conservative party just won not only the presidency but the whole congress, things in Mexico that we achieve in decades will roll back, many analysts are calling it BACK TO THE FUTURE. Government is eroding the 3 essential government levels, specially the judges, they plan to elect whomever judge they seem fit. Due to that notice the USD jumped in 5 days from 16.70 to 18.50 as of now. That is good news to US travelers. I left Mexico 34 years ago and very eager to retire there, but things are not looking good with the new government Crime is at its higuest and will be worse.

Not to mention that the NEW highway already has bumps and irregular surfaces due to bad construction. I think the train turned into a destination instead of being a means of transport. If you are already in Playa del Carmen at the ADO station, it is cheaper, and it is faster to take a bus to Mérida. Instead of having to take 3 buses and the train to get to the center of Mérida. I think that’s why there is little influx of people on the train.
@FRANCISCOORTEGA-ih1wn4 ай бұрын
Good to mention. as of today train schedules rarely go on schedule, many times train has stopped and passengers are forced to continue the trip on buses if you are lucky, a refund ? good luck. Search for the negative posts not just the ones that makes it look wonderful, it is not. ADO is way faster, cheaper and safer.

In the video it showed $30US, but then a second later it showed 60US which one was it or was it different if you ordered tickets online or bought them same day? Also, that's not round trip, you have to buy another ticket to go back correct?
@ForTheRoadTravels4 ай бұрын
Hola Karla, The first price is for the ADO bus to get to the airport where we took the free shuttle to the Cancun train station. The second price you saw was the twin tickets from Cancun to Merida. All of them where bought one way and the prices are for 2 people. Hopefully this explains it. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼🫶
@KatKatz114 ай бұрын
Ok so $30 per person for train one way. I'll be living in Merida so I would imagine the price is the same going Merida to Cancun. I've heardcit was only a 2 hr ride, whoever wrote that must not be factoring in the other stops on the way. Thank you 😊

@@ForTheRoadTravels OOOPS, way over what the government said the cost would be. Expect the tickets to keep rising.

Tren Maya's new HQ on C27 in Merida is HUGE. It can probably hold 800 to 1000 workers That's a lot of government jobs. Hope that spreads to all the underserved areas of the Yucatan which could use the economic development. Can't wait til they finish the Bacalar route.

Thank you for this video! I have a few logistical questions. We're very familiar with using the bus in Cancun and with the Cancun airport, but we haven't taken the train yet and haven't yet traveled to many places outside of Cancun. Where do you go at the airport to get the shuttle to the train, & how often does it come? Also, we want to return to Valladolid, having been there only once, but I'm wondering how to get from the train station to downtown there as well. Is it far, and is Uber the best way or are taxis reliable? I know in Cancun there has been a lot of tension between Uber and taxi drivers, so I'm wary of getting into an uncomfortable and potentially unsafe situation. Lastly do you have recommendations of things to do in Valladolid and places to stay there and in Merida? I am new to your channel so I apologize if you cover that on another video. I haven't had time to watch them all yet. 😆

Hya, there's a free suttle from each terminal to the train station, just look for the signs upon exiting the baggage claim and customs area, as fas as I know the shuttle only works on a schedule related to train arrivals and departures, for example if the last train leaves at 2 pm you won't find a shuttle from the airport after 2 pm , and there's the other thing, so far there are two trains from from Cancun to Merida one in the early morning and one midday (and back) and one that departs early from Cancun to Palenque, I believe the Tulum line is already working but can't tell you for sure. Do bear in mind that the train station is located next to the airport, but outside its premises, on the "libramiento to take the Merida toll road" (not a good idea to take a taxi $$$$$ or walk). At Valladolid station there are taxis at and I think the town just set up a local shuttle (with cost), I'm not sure if there's uber at Valladolid as its a small town and probably not business worthy for drivers. Valladolid and Merida are in the state of Yucatan where uber is legal and thriving, which is a different story from Cancun, located in Quintana Roo state, where the tensions among taxi unions and uber drivers are happening. At Valladolid you can find cenotes, colonial architecture and lots of mom-and-pop-run hotels its a really charming and laid back little town. If you want to visit Merida, there are tons of options, just check sites like tripadvisor and expedia, and there are of course lots of youtube videos and travel blogs out there. Hope this helps!

Thank you for the information, i live in Chicago en I am very happy that Tulum International airport has now direct daily flights from Chicago with United airlines. I have been in Tulum and always dislike flying into Cancun because of the long drive from Cancun to Tulum. I hope they are able to open the tulum to Escarcega route soon enought for us to visit.many people make videos but forget to say that this is just a passanger train meant to be use for local transport. The Turistic Dining car and also the hotel cars Janal and Patal are still been build by Bombardier. The current cars Patal is just a standard car. I am happy that slowly the train is becoming very popular among the locals. definatelly will better the economy and give more opportunities to the Tourist to travel inland into the other important arquelogical sites. Tren Maya will also be a cargo train to transport all the merchandise from the area,
@marcoantoniomendoza69284 ай бұрын
No, the trains were manufactured by Alstom, with 72 percent national components, and 90 percent Mexican labor, not Bombardier.

Sorry to ruin your toughts, Tulum Airport is shorter, yes, about 1 hour shorter BUT as of now there is little public transport and taxis will rip you off. THERE IS NO UBER, taxi owners who are the government officials do not allow ubers, they will loose a lot of business. Search facts before you go

Like any type of development, this seems like a dual edged sword. I used to live in Merida and I absolutely loved going to cenotes. We went to as many as we possibly could. The sheer pristine waters were such an amazing experience. I've been reading more and more about this project - already one of the caverns under the platform near the Tulum station has collapsed, already the steel from the pillars are corroding and shedding rust into the water, already the concrete leaks are polluting this previously clear water. And over 17,000 of these pillars have already been drilled into cenotes. These tracks will also be used to transport fossil fuels. I don't even want to think about how this will wreak havoc on the vast ecosystem of the cenotes. I'm afraid, while future generations may be able to travel faster and more efficiently, they willl only be able to read about and look at photos of the once beautiful cenotes. While it's all fun and giggles to experience the novelty of this concept, the consequences are bleak.

Thank you for your informative video. Tren Maya appears to be a work-in-progress, hence the lack of travel details online, as schedules and connections are changing. Hopefully, when work is complete some of the current weaknesses will be fixed. Although the out-of-town stations will remain a problem. Do you know when they will open the whole line? The circular route will be great for tourists.

It will become really interesting when there will be night trains for the connections between Chiapas and Cancun. As far I can see it's only 7am starts from Palenque to Cancun which isn't giving a good alternative for flying yet.

Absolutely, there are not many routes available, we believe there will be more and will help to have more options to depart even from PDC. 🙏🙏
