Everyone is gonna think this is just for Death or Djent but I think this has a lot of potential in a Sludgey Doomy context. Might have to cop one after Christmas

Hell yeah, that's the plan for me too! The Fortin Fuzz was pretty rad, especially when boosted and into a dirty-ish amp.

I just got my Fortin Natas Pedal on Saturday, but was looking foward to your review as well! This pedal is for sure the best Pre-Amp pedal I've owned for Metal thus far and I currently have it paired with a Line 6 HX Stomp. This to me is the new standard for "Metal In A Box"!

Awesome comparison. Reminds a lot me of my Randall Thrasher 120... but the pedal just has so much more gain going on with it, I love it.

Thanks, man, I didn't mention it in the video, but the riffs and structure of the in mix music is based on the in mix music I did for the Satan demo all those years ago.

Nothing against the Revv g3, it's a great pedal, but this as a preamp absolutely slays. It's tighter and more aggressive for sure.

Gnarly! The plugin has a more fizzy top end but that could be a power amp thing. Pretty close. I'll be considering this one. I've been thinking about getting some preamps to go direct in, ampsim plugins are wonderful but I miss hardware, just turn some dials and shred it up for a couple hours. Price sucks, though. Still, if the QC stacks up it's worth a little pain. lol

Was waiting for you to do a demo of this thing. Sounds friggin awesome. Liked your story about the Satan. Few years ago I ordered one through Guitar Center waited 3 1/2 months and them telling me every 2 weeks or so it's on it's way. Then they all sudden 'Oh we can't get it'. I was so pissed! This looks like a great christmas present for myself. One more thing. I usually listen to tube videos just through my phone or some small Infinity speaker for my PC. Listened to your video opener tune with a set of Bose QC-45's. God damn that sounds awesome. What did you play that thru?

Sorry about the Satan, man, but glad you dig the music. So I go into the setup in the video, I have the pedal going into a KSR PA50 power amp, going into a captorX with my IR of a DV77 and vm1265 speaker blend, although it's mostly a DV77 really

@metalheadproductions- I am about to get a brand new evil pumpkin. Is this best for going through a clean channel or can it be used as a boost on a high gain channel? Love your channel
@MetalHeadProductions
@MetalHeadProductions 6 ай бұрын
Well congrats on the evil pumpkin. Personally, I feel this is best as a preamp directly into a power amp. Into a clean channel you really have to back off the treble a lot. Haven't tried yet as a boost, but I'm sure you could get some cool results with it that way.

Which one do you think has the most versatile aggression between the Lichtlaerm TDW in front and the Natas as a preamp?
@MetalHeadProductions
@MetalHeadProductions 3 ай бұрын
The TDW was intended as a distortion, just happens to work great as a preamp, that being said, both are great, the NATAS is higher gain, and the TDW is much more dry. TDW has more tonal flexibility, but it doesn't have the girth and grind which control the gain structure like NATAS does. The TDW has that built in boost that gets things tighter, and the kill on the NATAS is a gain boost, which it doesn't really need as it's plenty high gain as is. Both are brutal and I haven't put them head to head, although comparing some high gain distortion and preamp pedals is on my to do list at some point, but overall the TDW is more versatile with that EQ and clean boost.
@davej8045
@davej8045 3 ай бұрын
@@MetalHeadProductions Awesome, thank you for the insight…it’s appreciated! The TDW showed up on my radar after getting the Key & Gate and putting it with a Mesa 5 band graphic EQ on my board to tame the Uber Ultra and JVM a tad.

chug pedal is cool and has more features, but this, for me, sounds better, feels better to play, and while it can be super dry if you want it to be, it doesn't have to be, whereas the chug pedal is kinda just dry really.

No presence control... it doesn't matter if your power amp has a presence control like the PA50 you're using. In fact, most of the best-known preamp pedals don't have a presence/depth knob because they're designed to be plugged into a power amp that should have these controls=> KSR, Kraken, Heavy, IR-X... I run mine almost like you with my PA50 but with a Zilla 2x12 angled vertical Fatboy (with V30 and G12H75) and it’s a beast

The Randall Satan was the most dissapointing amp I've ever got. I'm glad I traded it for a Bogner Uberschall. The pedal doesn't sound too bad but it's still true to the sound I didn't like about the amp, probably less worse even.

For a hundred dollars more you can get a synergy high gain module like the Savage or Uberschall and they’re tubed preamps. What market is Fortin after?…
@MetalHeadProductions
@MetalHeadProductions 8 ай бұрын
True, but you also need the module loader, and those modules are a mix of tube and solid state. Price is for sure a bit steep, but it also sounds really, really good so it just depends on what you want.
