In this video, Dr Uma Dangi, a senior consultant of Oncology Fortis hospital, Mulund talks with us about all the myths and side effects of chemotherapy for cancer.
People are scared of cancer but just as scared of the treatment. People are afraid of chemotherapy as it has a lot of side effects. Chemotherapy is a treatment for cancer, in which it kills cancer cells, however, it doesn’t know how to differentiate between cancer cells and normal healthy cells, and therefore attacks, healthy cells as well, which causes the side effects.
The side effects of chemotherapy vary from temporary problems like hair loss to more serious problems like low immunity, low haemoglobin, low WBC, and low platelet count. This is why the doctor suggests that during the treatment, the patient should be regularly in touch with a doctor for a safe treatment. To manage side effects like fatigue, nausea, and loss of appetite they can be controlled with medicines. Other than this, the doctor also suggests a few solutions that can be tried o manage the side effects of chemotherapy.

लोग कैंसर से तो डरते हैं लेकिन कैंसर के इलाज से भी उतना ही डरते हैं। लोग कीमोथेरेपी से डरते हैं क्योंकि इसके बहुत सारे दुष्प्रभाव होते हैं। कीमोथेरेपी कैंसर के लिए एक उपचार है, जिसमें यह कैंसर कोशिकाओं को मारता है, हालांकि, यह नहीं जानता कि कैंसर कोशिकाओं और सामान्य स्वस्थ कोशिकाओं के बीच अंतर कैसे किया जाता है, और इसलिए, स्वस्थ कोशिकाओं पर भी हमला होता है, जो साइड इफेक्ट का कारण बनता है।
