Best advice I can give is just count the music. Count beats out loud and break the track up into sections. After that just look for patterns in the notes being thrown at you. It’s much easier if you start practicing with songs that you know by heart since you can familiarize yourself with beats and melodies a lot easier

If you’re on console you should definitely change your controls. I’d recommend going the classic guitar hero route and changing them to: Lane 1 (L2) Lane 2 (L1) Lane 3 (R1) Lane 4 (R2) Overdrive (Square or X)
