Why low 0.1% and stutters?
@BenchmarkingTom
@BenchmarkingTom 7 ай бұрын
I don't know, maybe the map is still loading during those moments, or that's just how it is in this game. You know, only about 0.1% of Fortnite players experience such low FPS. From what I've seen, very few showcase the 0.1% low FPS in videos; they usually focus on current and average FPS, occasionally someone might show the 1% low. It could be a Ryzen-related issue; comparing it to another configuration under the same conditions might help to identify the problem.

How would a ryzen 9 9700x3d preform with a 4060?
@BenchmarkingTom
@BenchmarkingTom 8 ай бұрын
With the Ryzen 9700X3D, I have no idea; maybe we'll see in 3-4 years 😁. But you probably meant the 7950X3D. So, in Fortnite, I can't check it precisely, but after playing a lot of Warzone 2 and testing this setup countless times in the Modern Warfare 2 Benchmark, here's what I can say. On the lowest settings, where the processor is MAXIMALLY loaded and the graphics card is MINIMALLY loaded, the RTX 4090 was consistently around 82% bottleneck for this Ryzen at 1080p resolution and about 97% at 1440p resolution. This means that the RTX 4090 is too weak for this Ryzen, at least in Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2. I'm not entirely sure about Fortnite, but I suspect it's very similar because they are games of the same genre, and COD is a bit more demanding. In summary, what I wrote means that the RTX 4060 will be an even more significant bottleneck for this processor, to the extent that I think it doesn't make sense to pair it with this graphics card. I would recommend the 5800X3D or 13600k/13700k instead. Additionally, I'm sharing a link to a video with COD, along with the exact minute where I show the benchmark results: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWHTdYGil5d-jbssi=VeY73i8SfLYS3mGd&t=23

How do u think the ryzen 9 would perform with a 3080
@BenchmarkingTom
@BenchmarkingTom 7 ай бұрын
It depends on which Ryzen 9 you're referring to, but assuming it's the 7950X3D, it might not make much sense unless you plan to upgrade to the 5090 in the next generation. In general, testing the Ryzen with the 4090, I noticed that in many games, the 4090 becomes a bottleneck. Similarly, in the Modern Warfare benchmark at 1080p (lowest settings), the RTX 4090 is a bottleneck in 80%, and at 1440p, it's 97%. For the 3080, the 5800X3D would be a better fit, although processor it's also more powerful than gpu. I initially had a setup with 5800X3D + 3080, then upgraded to 5800X3D + 4090, and finally, 7950X3D + 4090. However, for a more future-proof option, it seems the best choice might be the 7800X3D + a good motherboard, allowing for a transition to 9950X3D or whatever comes next in the AM5 at the end, without spending unnecessarily. It's better to go for the 7800X3D and save the price difference for a future graphics card upgrade.

@@soar6534 No problem, I mainly play competitive games too, with a focus on the processor. Generally, the difference between the 7950X3D and 7800X3D is reportedly about 5% in favor of the 7950X3D. So, I think it doesn't make sense to pay an extra $200-300, especially if you have an RTX 3080. You could use that money for a better motherboard and RAM, or save it for the future or a graphics card upgrade. Similarly, if you're into overclocking, you could invest in a higher-end motherboard like the X670E Aorus Master, where it's said you can run RAM at speeds of 7600-7800MHz on those Ryzens, what gives you even more performance. I haven't personally tested this, as my Asrock motherboard can only handle a max of 6400MHz, so take these words with a grain of caution

It seems that way to me too. I'm curious about how the situation looks regarding Intel processors with 1% and 0.1% low fps. Many people have always claimed that the lowest values are significantly better on Intel, but I can't find a suitable video showing such a test. From what I know, in COD MW3, a Ryzen setup compared to an Intel setup (both overclocked to the max, with Intel having RAM above 8000MHz and additional RAM cooling) Ryzen can achieve an average of 60fps more. However, Intel wins in 1% low fps by 30fps, so that would make sense. But to even create such a configuration on Intel, you need a motherboard costing $600 with 2 RAM slots, specifically for overclocking, and the RAM itself is twice as expensive compared to what you can use on Ryzen. Of course, you also need to get a good processor specimen.

It might be an issue with the game engine or the textures are still loading. There's not much testing on KZbin where people show the 0.1% fps, so it's hard to compare and check if it's more of a GPU issue or maybe the CPU. Currently, I'm mostly into competitive gaming like Valorant and Fortnite, so a higher refresh rate than 270Hz would be beneficial, but on the other hand, I know that I might lose interest in these games in the future and would like to play AAA games, where having 4K would be great. I'll check that, but it doesn't seem likely because the game engine imposes limits. Look at the competitive settings at 1440p and 4k; there's practically the same FPS, with the only difference being that at 1440p, GPU usage is 30-40%, while at 4k, it's 50-60%. So, calculating for 1080p, it's probably around the same FPS, but GPU usage will drop even further, say 20-30%. But, as I mentioned, I'll check it and let you know.

This doesn't look like a max overclock at all, especially when you're getting less fps than my 7500F. Enabling XMP in the bios does not = MAX OC. 6000 CL28 is extremely loose for hynix ram. @BenchmarkingTom
@BenchmarkingTom 6 ай бұрын
Dude, what are you even saying? You haven't tested this configuration, so how do you know its potential? Firstly, I don't enable XMP or Expo; it's pointless and often causes stability issues. All clocks and timings are manually set - check the Ryzen Master screenshot at the end of the video. Secondly, there's no way to get below CL26 on these RAMs; I've tried. This configuration can operate at the following settings: - 6000MHz - 2000IF CL28 at 1.4v (UCLK=MEMCLK) - 6200MHz - 2067IF CL28 at 1.48v (UCLK=MEMCLK) - 7400MHz - 2167IF CL34 at 1.45v (UCLK=MEMCLK/2) All timings are cranked to the maximum on each configuration for stability. All these settings passed OCCT tests with 100% RAM utilization for an hour and extended gaming sessions. I'm not just throwing in an OC that merely starts; it's meant to be stable all the time. The difference between these three settings is minimal; 7400 CL34 is the worst by about 5fps, and 6200 CL28 is better by around 2fps than 6000MHz. It's not worth the higher RAM temperatures of over 8-10 degrees, so my choice is 6000 Cl28. So, comments like "Enabling XMP does not = max OC" amuse me because, for many, turning on Expo or XMP is not overclocking in any way xD. If you're getting such results on your 7500F, great, but I haven't seen such results on KZbin, so you can do it. Additionally, Fortnite's engine is so optimized that it doesn't fully utilize hardware, only about 50%

It's true, although the topic is more complex. I recommend watching BeefyTech's recent video where he discusses the current comparisons. In summary, AMD generally performs better in average fps by around 60fps, while Intel excels in 1% or 0.1% low fps by 30fps. The decision ultimately lies with the user. The Ryzen setup tends to be more cost-effective with a motherboard around $200-300, RAM approximately $150, and the processor. For a budget option, the 7800x3d seems more worthwhile, or the slightly more powerful 7950x3d, albeit pricier. Comparing this to an Intel platform (as it should be assembled), the cost of a motherboard with 2 RAM slots to overclock them to over 8000mhz is around $500. Add fast RAM for $300-400 and a processor priced between the 7800x3d and 7950x3d. Cooling the Intel setup is crucial. While Intel CPUs don't run excessively hot without overclocking, pushing them to match AMD requires significant cooling for the processor, power section, and RAM. I genuinely wish them the best, as I'd also like to try Intel again someday. They might need to revolutionize something to make the switch worthwhile. I've heard they're working on 3D cache chips - perhaps that could be it. 🤔
