Fortnite Season OG Settings Guide! - FPS Boost, Colorblind Modes, & More!

In this video, I talk about about the best new settings for Fortnite Chapter OG Season OG. From my experience, the general FPS and responsiveness has been amazing on the old map, however, I know there are a ton of people are experiencing bad input delay, FPS drops and error messages that don't let them play the game. Don't worry if you're experiencing these issues because everyone else is too. Luckily, I was able to gather the best brightness settings, video graphic quality options, and FPS Boost tricks and tips to help optimize your game in Chapter OG Season OG. These will include Nvidia graphic quality setting changes you can make to your brightness, contrast, and digital vibrancy, tips on which color blind modes to choose from the available colorblind options (deteuranope, protanope, and tritanope) and other tips and tricks for more frames on both console and PC. On top of that, I talked about the secret changes Epic made to the graphic quality options in Chapter 4 as well as what rendering mode is the best between performance mode (high and low meshes), DirectX 11 (DX11) and DirectX 12 (DX12). I tried to include as many tricks to boost your FPS as I could for both console (PS4 and Xbox One) and PC, mobile and switch, but I obviously could not fit everything into one video (some systems don't have them either like performance mode on PC). Definitely check out some of my other ultimate settings guides and FPS Boost tutorials in order to get more FPS and reduce input lag (make your game run smoother). there should just be a custom field already but honestly it's not that big of a deal when you can put a custom one in the config file (FrameRateLimit=000.000000) or enforce one with RTSS / in your gpu control panel

As someone who has an AMD GPU, I recommend using DX12 as I usually experience a bit more frame year when using performance mode but thats just my personal preference

NOTE: Like he said go to DX11 or 12, and turn down the settings BEFORE you go to into performance. HOWEVER I’VE SEEN SOME FLAWS ON THIS VIDEO. If you have an Nvidia card and can do On + Boost. This means you can just uncap your FPS. The whole point of limiting the FPS is for your GPU to not stutter if you have some lower processing equipment like Hz, etc. But, On + Boost removes that by waiting and going so each frame is in sync. So you are hurting yourself by LIMITING your FPS. Also, please turn up the view distance, it should be the only setting that is up. You would want to turn this on at least medium (more preferably Far) because it affects on when you can see items on the floor. It wouldn’t make sense to run up to an item to just seeing it or having to ping it. It also doesn’t reduce that much performance, if not any. It also doesn’t affect how far you can see players. Also have high meshes unless you need performance badly because seeing through the builds always gives you more of an advantage. Also for resolution, if any of you are considering stretch res, I’d recommend to just use your native resolution for the most reliable and best experience. Also, no hate against the colorblind settings, but use what you can see comfortably. I use no colorblind because anything else looks weird. It’s what your EYES tell you. Don’t force yourself to strain your eyes if it’s too bright/dark. However everything else is fine and I hope people can realize this because it hurts my eyes when I see people capping their FPS for NO reason. Like just because somebody else said so. However, still a good guide 👍.

I have a 4090. BUT I did have a 1000 generation GPU and averaged 100-120 fps. So anybody with 3070s struggling with FPS should not be happening. If you do, try considering reset the 3D Nvidia settings to the default because even I don’t use it. See if it changes. If it doesn’t help, try benchmarking. It basically makes the GPU/CPU put out the max amount of power without absolutely blowing itself up 👍. And every GPU is different so you can search up a guide. Also try increasing fan speed or any other way you have it to reduce heat. Because we all know heat = bad. Also I heard some people like DX12 better, even performance wise. So test it out Yes this is a repost of my comment because more people are finding this one more

DLSS is not for anti-aliasing! its for boosting your fps by lowering the resolution of the game and scaling it up later to a higher res, so you should have an image that looks basically the same but with way more fps@@Domitillaa

just a tip if your having troubles switching to performance mode. if you go into your epic launcher and right click fortnite then go to manage and then launch options. if you have something written in there like b1x30 delete it and turn off launch options. this might not be a fix for everyone who still cannot switch after unselecting read only on game files but try it since it might work. hope it helps :)

Jerian just so you know. Dx 12 gives so much more performance and fps stability while playing while using an amd gpu. Altought it gives more input delay. I think this is due amd's lack of drivers optimization with performance mode for fortnite.

@@andreaskleopa in that case i would recommend chosing one, either aim for highest performance and lowest input delay (in that case i would choose perf mode) or if ur aiming for the best looks then use dx 12 like high or medium settings with 3d res on 100%

DX12 may give better performance to those with AMD GPUs as well as better performance in areas made for nanite and lumen (so places like the former Mega City, and surely some new POIs coming chapter 5). DX12 is also good for people with good GPUs but okay CPUs by putting more load on the GPU. (Fortnite favors CPU over GPU. There's a reason why all the best pros have the same CPU lol.)

Yes, you only switch to dx11 so that those settings become visible so that you can change them. Once you change them, you go back to performance mode.

Everyone always says to use performance mode. If you’re on a mid to higher end system PLEASE use dx12. Yes it has a lower average fps, BUT that doesn’t even matter if you’re capping your fps (which you should). The main benefit is that it has SIGNIFICANTLY higher 1% lows, meaning your fps is much much more consistent and overall your game will be smooth like butter. Try it out if you haven’t! Also Epic textures does make a difference for certain skins and graphics in the game. If you can still handle it at your fps cap I would personally use it.

@@abhijitprajapati3764 if you have a nvidia card, i would go into the control panel and increase your shader cache size from default to atleast 10, I personally use 100 but only do that if you have the space. This will help prelocate the shaders which can cause stutters. Also make sure you’re using the launch settings (the part with the check boxes) he talks about in the video. Other then that if you’re still having issues i would lower your fps cap. Your gpu might be working too hard and in turn causes lower 1% lows aka stuttering

I think the best map ever in fortnite was the chapter 3 map with the big desert, the volcano with the vibrant green grass with the snow region. I hated the last map because of the grass colour on the city area.
