Thank you for this. My Mother Viola was part of the Thomas family involved in the bombing in Lister Street and although she talked of it until the end of her days I have never heard of my Grandfather's actions on that day.

Thank you for your comment. A brave man protecting his family. Can you confirm the house number that the Thomas family lived at?

What a fantastic video, looking forward to seeing the rest of the series. Great work! Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I recently moved to Falmouth for uni, and I’m interested to learn about its wartime past!

Thanks for the feedback and kind words. You'll find plenty of viewing on my Channel on Falmouth in the war. Good choice of uni. Enjoy your time in Cornwall.

Great vid. My Grandmother's relations were killed at the house in Lister Street. She often told me that her and her Mother were envited for tea there that night but as a child my Gran didn't want to go. So they didn't go luckily

Thank you for sharing the family story. While every loss of life is tragic it could have been so much worse. There were a lot of 'narrow escapes' that day. So thanks for sharing your grandmother's account.

@@PhilsTeleTime this is the first time I've heard about this event from anyone other than my Gran. I never doubted her at all. It's a real revelation to hear more about it in detail. Thanks

The opening instrumental is Elgar's Pomp & Circumstance March by the Pro Arte Orchestra, part of which is used for Land Of Hope & Glory. Full music credits are given at the end of the video.

Just looked at the 1939 register on Ancestry. The Pardon family lived at number 32 in 1939, so possibly immediately next door to the house with the fatalities.
