Fortuna vs Douglas FULL FIGHT: November 12, 2016 - PBC on Spike

In his second fight since losing his world title in stunning fashion back in June, Javier Fortuna faced a stiff test in undefeated prospect Omar Douglas.
That test looked even tougher than it had coming in when Fortuna went to the stool after the first round in a scheduled 10-round bout. In Round One, Douglas landed a sudden, big left hand on Fortuna during a close exchange which floored Fortuna, forcing him to struggle to finish the round.
But Fortuna showed the seasoning of a champion over the course of the next nine rounds. He stuck to his gameplan of sticking and consistently moving, not allowing Douglas opportunities to counter.
After giving up a 10-8 round in the cards to start the night, Fortuna consistently piled up rounds on the judges’ scorecards. He then got gutsy in going for the stoppage in the 10th and final round, but Douglas fired back consistently in a hotly contested finish. In the end, Fortuna improved to 31-1-1 (22 KO) via Unanimous Decision (96-93 x2, 95-94), inching closer to getting another world title shot.

I feel like Ryan Garcia really is just trying to tune up before Haney. I dont think Fortuna will be an easy fight for him but i think he has a huge chance to win. I dont blame him for wanting to tune up before Haney because hes already expressed how he feels hes one of the best in the sport right now. Plus the build up is even greater now. Pacquiao will just have him back to where he already was. Floyd will have his beef his defense and since his hand is injured like Floyd's. He'd still be performing just as good. With Floyd's defensive structure. Fortuna's adaptability makes Floyd the best choice. Canelo, would be a better a pick. Than Pacquiao, as well. Fortuna needs someone who can train him with that skill first. That's his winning factor more that anything else. When the opponent pressures you and training goes out the window. It's all about how you gone adapt. No one can refine that in Fortuna, more than Floyd. That's how he beat Maidana and Pacquiao.

Yeah Douglas gets himself in range & then seems to have second thoughts. Fortuna is more instinctive, & lets his hands go. Either of these two against Lomanchenko would make a good fight. They might even surprise him & test him.

"No more Floyd" nigga shut up. The name of the game is how and not get hit. Just cause you have propensity to see a slugfest. Doesn't mean Floyd was a bad boxer. Every great boxer had some for of running in their arsenal. Ali shuffled and moved his head, Leonard had good shuffling and pivoting with head movement, Tyson whole style was based on bobbing his head if his feet weren't moving pivoting in instead of out, Holyfield used a rhythmic bounce to throw off his opponent bouncing in and out of range. Floyd just based his style on more defense after his hand was injured. Y'all just be hating because he was one of the best. Despite not being the most exciting. When that "exciting" boxing shit is why all the legends developed trauma related brain damage. I'd rather see boxers be able to retire intact. Then be exciting 10 years. Then live the rest of their lives trying to fight becoming a vegetable.

Douglas has the skills and the heart, he should have won this fight. He would have won, if Fortuna wasn't freaking holding all the time. How many damn warnings do you have to get before taking a point away? 6? 8? 12? Give me a break! Fortuna has great movement, he's quick with good fast punches. Despite that, I think Douglas would have won, had Fortuna's holding been reined by round 5 or at least 6. Douglas was robbed. You want to move fast, dodge, step in and out ? Go ahead, more power to you. That's all fine and good but prevent the other boxer from fighting his fight by repeatedly pinning his arms - Bullshit! You have nothing to be ashamed of Douglas! Hold your head high : ).

You don’t need to understand the language to know you fighting dirty. Fortune is gonna carry or drop his right which he carries way too low to begin with, dip to his right and get slept by Ryan. Mark my words. If Ryan just goes two rounds to the body without coming up top it will come as a complete shock when he sleeps Fortuna. Hope I’m wrong, it goes a few and is exciting but unless he’s learned to stop dipping and to carry his right higher it I’ll be a short night.
