Completely agree with the overuse on the M parts, definitely would mean more to see Brembo or Ohlins etc great PDF reporting

I agree. The issue here is that it dilutes the M brand and, like a 318 with a M badge just looks stupid - marketing gone mad and as you say, there are brand strengths with Akrapovich, Brembo, Ohlins et al that show the OEM has thrown some serious kit at the bike so it should function well.

Could very well be a sales tactic, if you want full power you have to pay for the m, if you want to save money you dont get the extra hp. I personally wouldnt touch an m if they make the standard r the same power, I'd put the saving into ohlins or brembos etc

I’m happy to see they swapped the 165hp variant of this motor with the RR to make it a true hyper naked. If for nothing else, I feel BMW really needed a sort of “halo” naked bike to compete with Ducati’s V4s if it really wanted to add some weight behind the badge regarding the sportbike arena. You see or hear the name “Ducati” and raw performance comes to mind, even when applied to their Multistrada or Desert X models. You see or hear “BMW” and luxury touring with a heavy bent on functionality comes to mind. Fine if you want to sell to the ADV or touring market, but how do you bring in that track-minded subset of riders into your showroom with that sort of association to the brand? Now having a pair of 200+ sport bikes to show off, in my mind, helps to legitimize BMW’s push to incorporating their M badging to their bikes rather than coming across as some gimmick. Does anyone ever need 200+ hp bikes for the street, of course not, but unless you live in Southeast Asia or other markets where motorcycles are viewed more as cheap/practical transpiration, as far as I’m concerned, just get the bike that tickles your fantasy, the one that gets you stirred up inside.

I dropped a tooth on the front of my 2021 S1000R (like dropping 2/3 on the rear) and the increased gearing is like a kick in the nuts! Give it 40hp more with 2k extra revs this will be bonkers! Hope they give you more Dynamic Pro options so you can have a bonkers mode and everything (fast) on mode.

Yes, dropping 1 size on front sprocket did change how the power delivered to rear wheel. Smaller front sprocket, faster momentum to be given to the rear wheel, not wasting every revs possible. Oh and I think you mean 1 down front equals to 2-3 up for rear

Other than the Streetfighter V4 has been doing this for years... I had a 2017 S1000R, and if the SF V4 didn't exist, sure this would be such a compelling option. But as Chris alluded to, if I had to choose between Brembo and Ohlins and Marchesini over "M" branding, I know which I'd choose. Also, I just think the Ducati looks nicer 🤷‍♀

Finally! Been waiting for this since I saw the rumors. Atleast BMW recognise the fact that I still want a high revving torque up past 10k RPM engine but I'm a fat bastard and want it on a naked. Always bugged me that the MT10 and S1000R etc were "detuned" versions of the superbike engines.

I did about 30 miles on the 1st gen S1000R years ago and it's still probably the most impressive motorcycle that I ever rode.. even if it fell apart at 5000 miles (needed complete engine rebuild) and was noisy again at 7000 miles. Even if I'd probably buy a R1250R.. it's still absolutely amazing. This S1000R is a better bike then the M1000RR for 90% of people. Sadly, most probably won't realize that.

Agreed in this day and age there should be an option for any accessory like ohlins and brembo's or maxtons basically as long as your prepared to pay they should have the option, But the new BMW line is amazing, I'm expecting a carbon framed hyper bike from BMW basically a BMW's vers2of the ducati v4rsl with carbon and titanium everything, I was actually expecting a more stuff from the HP4 race as the were saying how quickly they can make carbon frames

Love the video - I am not fully sold on the Brembo brakes. The stock S1000R for 2022 that I had for a loan had Brembo brakes. The ABS side for me is more important, European electronics are the bigger selling point.

On BMWs website it states that this bike is only producing 205 horsepower with a top speed of 174 mph and that 205 horsepower is made at 13,750 rpm sooooooo why is everyone sayin it’s a 210 horsepower bike?

It’s an amazing bike but I think the original s1kr is an equally good street bike. You’ll need to rip the M1000R above 11k RPM or so to feel the difference and yes there’s a small boost due to the gearing change. So the big difference will be on the track.

Wish they provided torque graphs for each standard and M, the lesser model with a similar torque peak at a lower RPM may be the stronger bike at mortal speeds

About time they just put the supersport engine in the Naked bike. They should of leaned into the inherent strengths of the I4 engine instead of trying to engineer mid-range and torque into an engine that just can't keep up with a V-Twin or V4 of the KTM/Duc/Aprilia. Going to be my next bike if everything checks out
