It's the way he did it. Putting your car sideways makes the system think you're out of control. If he plows straight through the pack head-on it would have dished out a 6-10 second penalty. GTR Merginator did the same thing.

I would say that if you're about to make contact in such a way that either you think pulling the handbrake is necessary or may give you a penalty, then either you are ramming and up to no good or you made some tragic error in the braking zone and probably deserve the penalty. The braking zone is a no-surprise-zone and once you're there you have to commit to your trajectory thru the corner. If it is a dirty trajectory, sending you barreling into other cars, that's on you. But handbraking into a corner for any reason is never advised, unless you're in a drift lobby of course.

Because he went in backwards, the penalty system deemed him out of control and an accident. You can’t punt the whole field going straight and no braking them, you’ll get a 10 second pendants for that. He accidentally tricked he system and found a flaw.

For bowling into people like that, you should get a disconnect and a 30 minute penalty until you can join an online race again. When you didn't learn you lesson there, 1 hour and you are forced to race 30 minutes of it offline. Boom, rammer problem will solve itself, at least they will be a rare animal in online races.

This 100x this. THIS is the real way to solve the ramming problem. Let them send themselves into the shadow realm and have to crawl out of the back corner of the sand pits at 5 mph....it will kill ramming dead as even the most remotely viable strategy. If they combined that with iRacing's raiting system it would turn Forza from a joke into something the real racers want to play. At this point its just too many idiots.

In regards to the class/rating system for drivers, I was thinking something similar to the car classes but everyone starts at the lowest class and doing league races helps to improve your class. The earlier levels could be easy to grind through but to get into B or A class would be harder to do. Simply to keep the tankers from having access to the faster cars. Rammers could also just build a fast car in C class with a lot of power too. But ramming can have a large impact on your rating and drop you down quickly to counter that issue.

Off track system seems to work where the amount track cut determines the base penatly with increments of 0.250 + 2 for every driver you overtake while off track. Collision system seems to use 4 regions, speed of both cars and the relative position of both cars. The foue regions are front and rear bumper and left and right side. Hitting someone in the nose to rear with significant force causes a penalty depending on the force applied. Getting hit in the rear does nothing (can't recall JSR Devon on brake checking though). Sideswiping each other does little to nothing. Things change when you gain a position during or after the collision though. If you gain positions over the car you hit you'll likely be penalized, however if you never overtake the other car on track the collision will not be penalized (which is wrong). Great system, just a minor flaw in the collision system that I think is fairly easy to fix if you take the directional input vector and velocity vector of voth cars into account

I was playing the non penalty mode, in the ABCS game mode... I was in the S class this time in a F50 Ferrari.. this guy constantly kept bumping me over and over again. I'm a 100% believer in clean racing but after he pitted someone, i flung his ass into a wall xD Then I ended up in 2nd place and he ended up in 3rd. I think they should implement a similar system that is in FH4 where the game ghosts you if it thinks you're going to hit someone at high speed. Helps stop rammers and stuff and it actually works quite well from my experience. Though I do wish they would add something to help stop people who try and drive you off track by blatantly turning into you and driving you off track, super annoying, especially when it makes u miss a checkpoint or something

When you ebrake into a ram the collision system thinks you are out of control and it doesnt penalize contact whenever one or all cars involved are in an attitude that registers as out of control. They did this intentionally to help mitigate unnecessary penalties from mistakes that lead to unintentional contact. GTR Merginator did a video that shows this system working well. Also, the final update next month is meant to include a DQ threshold for penalty time, so there will be more than just a lower finishing position for those dedicated griefers eventually.

The reason why you're not getting penalties back to back is because its factoring in the "gaining" aspect. Like in forza horizon 4 you the amount of slowed down you get depends on how much time you would gain from the wall ride. I think the same applies here, ramming someone and gaining no time or positions means a penalty would do nothing so why penalize someone who basically penalize themselves? Lol though I do think that exmaple at spa was a weird one as I think you definitely deserved a penalty for that one.

I think the problem has gotten so bad that even if the system was working in its current form, it wouldn’t be enough. Rammers don’t care what place they come in, and probably don’t care about penalties either. There needs to be system of automatic lobby bans for high speed impacts, with multiple bans resulting in a full multiple player ban. A ranked sportsmanship system like GT Sport has wouldn’t hurt, either.

Now that the penalty system is getting better i am really considering buying forza 7, i want to get into asphalt sim racing but i find asseto corsa's xbox community a little bit too small and really want to know: is forza 7 worth it considered i loved fm4?

That polarchip chap had his username reset. I had mine reset a couple of months ago and I've noticed since a hell of a lot of people with two random words then a load of numbers. And of course they've changed it so you can't now change it for free you have to pay...unhappy would be an understatement!

I think in terms of those high-speed ramming incidents, there should be a penalty where it kicks you from the race and you can't race in that lobby for a specific amount of time whether it be a lobby specifically for clean racing or ranked racing

There needs to be a maximum amount of penalties you can have before you get disqualified. If you remember at Monza he completely skipped the chicanes and still finished first and I’m sure it still works. Also if let’s say at 15 seconds worth of penalties getting disqualified sound much more severe than “just” losing out to a few places.

5:54 That’s a 2 second penalty? The game really needs some consistency with penalties for going off track. You can go wide, slow down and lose a handful of places and still end up with a 5 second penalty. The 5 seconds, it’s a joke!

Can someone help me? Noob question just got the game yesterday but I have these two prompts on my screen at all times whenever I’m playing multiplayer. One is for “chatlog toggle” and it requires you to click LS + Y and the other is “enter text” and is LS + X. So whenever I’m drifting (I have a tendency to click the sticks in as I turn because I’m just aggressive) and I have to downshift it brings up a keyboard . To my belief I’ve been thru all the settings and can’t get it to go away

The calculations for colution are done from the front of the car. From a game design perspective. That is why you are able to ram people like that as long as you car is more that +-70 degrees to the turn, or the car infront. Infact if you were to dive the conner with a drift, and clip the car infront on his nose if the car infront is not to far into the conner the leading car will get n penalty. But this a extreme occurrence and is hard to simulate even if you try to do so. This system isn't perfect, and can be exploited if understood, but for most of the time I feel they did a good job in finding something that is consistent from a design perspective.
