Actually, they got the short end of it as the GTS packs much more power than them and we also got the Clubsport which packed more power than the SS and used the LS3 starting from the E series 2 (albeit with less power than the GTS). They're closer to the Commodore SS which in its last run got a de-tuned NA LS3 while all the others from the VZ series 2 to the VF Series 1 got the LS2.

Here's a fun fact: Chevy tried to sell this car in North America TWICE. Once as the Pontiac G8 in 2008-09, which died when Pontiac was axed, and again as the Chevrolet SS from 2014-2017. It was a massive failure both times. This is why North Americans don't have nice things.

The Chevy SS was the American version. Unfortunately the wasn't much for advertising so they didn't sell much. Used to work at a Chevy dealership that had one new on the lot. Amazing car. I wish it had the support the Holden had especially with the HSV
