Good points! The gear/speed graph (little one shown when adjusting gears) is usually incorrect. It makes the case for using a gearing calculator because anyone tuning by hand is effectively tuning blind. I find the upgrade screen torque graph is usually good for max torque rpm value but there can be a difference with redline shown vs. rev limiter when driving. Confirming with telemetry is always good, and I'll keep thinking about an easier way to deal with this check. Thanks!

Sure! The tuning calculator gives specific number values for almost all parts. Ride height and aero are the exceptions. For these you want to look at how much of the bar graph is filled in white on the app, and then move the slider in the game to match. In the example here, the ride height slider was a little less than half.

I know this video is 3 yrs old and for FH4, but fast forward to day to FH5, Does ForzaTune Pro support specific tunes like Drag Racing? Specifically, I'm wondering if it can calculate the best gearing for highest 'possible' speed in the lowest 'possible' amount of time. I usually spend *days* tuning my gears for drag and can get down to 'avg' of 0.8s 0-60 and 1.9s 0-100, but yeah, I still get beat as if I was standing still. I've been playing since Forza H3 and still cannot understand the disparity between some players drag tunes. Not a hater, but even deduced that they are cheating especially when my 0-100 is under 3 seconds and get beat by a Ford RS200 lmao like what is going on. Anyway, since I think my tunes are pretty sane (tho it takes me days and days to created) would the Pro version help or even be useful for me?

I seem to be getting better at using this app, but one thing that still happens a lot, particularly when I'm trying to get an S2-998 RWD car to be driveable, let alone raceable, is I'll end up with a much lower top speed than I had at the beginning, and what happens is I end up with a car that is only slightly easier to drive, but can't keep up with the other hypercars. Is it recommendable to copy over the gearing info *last,* in any cases?
@ForzaTune2 жыл бұрын
If you need help with a specific tune feel free to send an email from the app. From what you said, it might be as simple as lowering final drive a bit. And regardless of the tune, that high of a performance index with RWD will require careful throttle application. Thanks!

Recently started using this for FH5 and it mostly seems the same, but I do have to admit the input of the top speed and 0-100 has my head spinning a bit. Those values aren't static, that's the whole idea behind gear tuning, right? Getting the max sort of makes sense to me, given that all comes down to final drive gear ratio, but aero is going to have a profound effect on it as well without being accounted for with the other pulled data. 0-100? I'm at a loss with this one completely. Nearly everything is going to have an effect here that could swing it wildly in any direction with several factors unaccounted for as far as I can tell. Side note to this: Is there a good way to determine the optimal number of gears for racing transmissions in FH5? It's rare that I find myself taking 6 because of weight concerns rather than feeling like a 7th wouldn't help, but then there are some cars that seem to really want that 7th and sometimes 8th gear to quickly get to 200+ mph. I feel like I'm doing a lot of guesswork when to change to a different gearbox size.
@ForzaTune3 жыл бұрын
Hi Chad - the gearing is as an optimization problem that requires a reasonable starting point. The 0-100 and top speed provide that and capture many factors of the car like aero. If you want you can jump over to the gear tuning screen in the game, and move the final drive slider up and down to find the min 0-100 and max top speed and use those. The reason I don't always recommend that is because it's extra time for little benefit - unless the car has an odd setup (very low or high final drive before tuning). I do recommend changing final drive *after* using the values given by the app if you want more acceleration or more top speed. To answer your other question, a wide power band will require less and a narrow power band will require more gears. Hope that helps!
@AshenSeraph3 жыл бұрын
@@ForzaTune So, if I'm understanding this correctly, it's just that one adjustment after-the-fact that those numbers modify. I do tend to play around with the final drive after getting it tuned up anyway. I'm guessing the instances I've run into where it seems I've had to modify it by quite a bit are where those numbers were particularly off. And thanks for the answer on the number of gears. That dealt a major "Well, duh" moment to me when it all clicked into place as to why that is the case. Are there any rough guidelines on number of gears to use for different powerbands beyond shorter = more and longer = less? Personally, I have yet to find a vehicle that seems to call for more than 8 and usually end up sticking with 7, but I have been playing it by feel... and this is a completely new and untrained feel. I've never played a racing game that allows you to change the number of gears until FH5.
@ForzaTune3 жыл бұрын
@@AshenSeraph The simulation values change a few things beyond the final drive. Ultimately you are right that adjusting the final drive - after the fact, and as you typically do anyway - should handle some inaccuracy in the 0-100 and top speed values entered. What makes gears interesting is there are many "right" answers in the same way 4 x 1.5 = 6 and 3 x 2 = 6. And the calculator is essentially helping us pick combinations that work well together. I agree very few cars need more than 6-7 gears and it can even slow down things given all the shifting time. Thanks for the questions. Let me know if anything else comes up.

Hi Tim - you may have seen the gearing update recently. I would not worry too much about filling up the graph (or shrinking gears into it) as long as you can reach your desired top speed. Followed this guide, and when reading the torque on the graph it looked to peak at 4500ish with redline near 7300 I want to say. After I plugged in all the numbers, I went out to drive and on launch out of the first gear it just bottoms out. Ran the tune on street/standard and made sure gearing and forced induction were checked. What can I do to correct the tuning in this scenario?
@ForzaTune3 жыл бұрын
It's hard for me to provide one-on-one help for specific tunes. But if you mean bottom out like stalling, then I would increase final drive ratio -- the games can be a little odd with launching AWD cars, especially with clutch on the controller. That and/or you may need to let it rev a bit more before launching.

@ForzaTune2 жыл бұрын
Hello - the gearing does not change for drift, but you will likely want to reduce final drive to lengthen gears OR better yet, enter 4 gears when tuning and disregard 5th and 6th. This will keep you in the power band while drifting and is similar to having the drift transmission (4-speed) installed. You can also use the app to tune drift transmission if ignoring gears seems odd. Thanks.
