INCOMING LONG RANT in 3, 2, 1 (grab a sandwich, because this is a rant).... Despite me being a full multi-console owner since 1995 (that's the gen I owned Playstation 1 , N-64, Sega Saturn, Atari Jaguar, etc, etc) this is the first gen where I did NOT go full multi-console. I have the Playstation 5 (with PS VR2), Switch, Evercade, etc. I did NOT buy the Xbox Series X/S, despite me still owning the OG Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Why? When the Xbox Series X/S launched during 2020, it had ZERO exclusives of any type (not even Xbox/PC co-exclusives. NONE. The Playstation 5 launched with exclusives like Asto's Playroom, Demon's Souls Remake, etc, while Xbox Series X/S had NOTHING at launch. I looked at that and thought to myself "Something is wrong here, but let's see what happens". Then 2021, the ONLY Xbox Series X/S console exclusive they got was Flight Simulator... which was an AFTERTHOUGHT since it released on PC the year before. Then 2022... NO console exclusives... NOTHING during 2022. At that point I was looking at that situation and thinking to myself "Something is wrong here... VERY, VERY wrong. Now is NOT the time to buy a Xbox Series X/S". Then... While the Xbox Series X/S did get a nice number of console exclusives during 2023 and I came very close to getting the console at the end of 2023 with Starfield and the new Forza Motorsport and Hi-Fi Rush, I held off since I figured I should get Starfield when it's DLC released during 2024... so I decided to wait and delay buying the Xbox Series X till 2024. Those plans went flying out the door when I saw Hi-Fi Rush (their best reviewed console exclusive for Xbox Series X/S) go to Playstation 5 during 2024. At that point I'm thinking to myself "What are they doing?!?!? They should be including Hi-Fi Rush with the Xbox Series X/S like how Sony includes Astro's Playroom with Playstation 5 ... why are they giving this game to Playstation 5?!?!?". Then... I started hearing rumors that all games (Forza, Starfield, etc) would eventually go to Playstation 5, as early as February 2024. While these were rumors at the time, Microsoft was NOT denying the rumors. They weren't confirming it, but they were NOT denying it and they were giving off signs that they were considering it. At that point I'm thinking "Okay, do NOT buy the Xbox Series X/S since I'm getting vibes that this console is done for and all of it's games are going to Playstation 5 and possibly Switch 2". Then... End of January 2025... Forza Horizon 5 confirmed for PS5. FORZA... their golden goose franchise... to their main competitor's console. It's over. I can't justify spending money of a Xbox Series X/S when the Playstaion 5 I already have is going to get it's games. Again, this is coming from someone who has been multi-console since 1995 and I still own the older Xbox consoles like Xbox 360 and Xbox One. This is Sega Dreamcast during 2001 all over again or Atari Jaguar during 1996 all over again. It's over. END OF RANT (and I hope you had a sandwich while reading this novel of a rant).

This says a lot about Microsoft's confidence in their own games. Taking shortcuts, short-term financial stimulus but no long term incentive to improve themselves They're in this situation because they stopped making great games like in the Xbox 360 era. Xbox+Windows Game pass didn't cut it, Steam didn't cut it, and now they're resorting to Playstation and soon Nintendo

It should be said, that MS had a 48% increase in game revenue in the last financial year. However, most of it is due to their game pass services that Sony doesn't't have a huge equal for yet. And a big portion of it is the PC market vs console alone ofc. But with a tiny bit of PS sales via Sea of Thieves and Minecraft. As it's not like the SOT did bad there. So I suspect they knew what they were doing. Unironically, the closest comparison for Sony would be MLB the Show. A game they were forced to sell on Xbox due to the license holders demanding it. It more than doubled their income for that game.

Everyone wants GT from PlayStation, and PlayStation already has NFS, The Crew, and Assetto Corsa like Xbox does. It would be a logical plan to release FH6 on PC and Xbox platforms then to prevent declining sales Hope that made sense lmao

Releasing FH5 is a marketing stunt to generate hype for FH6. As directly releasing FH6 wouldn’t be a good idea, if FH5 sells well on PS5 then there’s no reason for them to not release 6 on the Ps5 as well.

I'm not knocking the Xbox or consoles in general, i have a ps5 as well, but emulation is king over new consoles playing backwards compatible games (because not all of my back library on Playstation and xbox is backwards compatible on new consoles and it doesn't require a subscription like the Nintendo back catalog on the switch)

Note the new setting in "Extras"... one can add all the previous Forza Horizon intros as the main intro video for FH 5. What is curios is, if you select the "Welcome to Colorado" you get a new intro video completely remade using the FH5 engine, but they also updated everything including the whole map seen in one of shoots!?! They're both equally as boring to me gameplay wise but at least forza holds my attention via it's handling on a wheel. It's only really fun to me as an open world driving experience. I just turn all the world event bs off, disable most of the HUD, put on my own music, and drive. But even then I only do that like once every other month or two. Racing in gt7 is so much more fun.

One thing i didnt think about until now is that I'm concerned you'll have to link a Microsoft account to your PlayStation account to play the game. To some people this isn't that big of an issue but for me its huge because a number of years back I had a xbox account linked to my playstion account to play Minecraft with my friends but I later deleted the account without thinking and I'm unable to unlink the two. I contacted Minecraft and Xbox and both of them had no idea how to fix it so in short my account cant play any Xbox game on PS cross platform...

In my opinion, if I were to buy a console to replace my Xbox one, and I had to pick between a ps5 or an Xbox series x, knowing that forza horizon is coming to ps5, I’m getting the ps5, bc for me the only reason I would get an Xbox is for forza and halo. As also a owner of both, i agree and disagree with you, i mean its good "ending" exclusive games for each plataform, but honestly. Xbox could choose something less impactant for give that easy for Playstation (and for no game from Sony in back, just a reminder for now) so yeah, its good Forza is going for new places, but it should be later.

At one point I really would have been excited to hear this, but playing FH5 feels like playing Call of Duty. I don’t really know how to explain, but both games just feel like you play for nothing. At the end of a CoD match, you get a new camo, level up, and repeat. FH5 GIVES you a new car/emote/enough money to buy another car. Both seem fine until you realize that if you care to play competitively, CoD puts you with Sweats/cheaters while in FH5, the leaderboards are RAN by cheaters. Both games feel extremely undercooked and lazily tossed out knowing they will just be put on Game Pass. To be fair, I haven’t played FH5 in a very long time, but every time I check up on it, it looks like the same game held together by staples and tape.

Forza is probably gonna be a timed exclusive, like PSN title these days, that a year in console, then next year in Steam The thing is, why people doesn't like that this game would be available on more platform? (I know the game isn't that bombastic great of a game, compared to competitor, but many still wanted to play y'know? Feeling how to play GT in open world, which itself is already a stretch). Like as if people still need justification over the money they're spending on certain console

I feel there could be more behind this than meets the eye. The EU introduced the Digital Markets Act towards the end of 2022, which essentially aims to reduce gatekeeping in digital markets. So far they have mostly focused on mobile phones as it's the largest digital market, but they recently forced Apple to allow 3rd party app stores on iOS (you can even set the default store to Android) if you wish). The act basically says that if you own the hardware then you should be able to chose what software you use and where you obtain it from. I think at some point the EU are going to take steps to force Sony, MS and Nintendo to allow 3rd party store fronts on their hardware (i.e Nintendo store on PlayStation, Steam on Xbox etc). In the current market this benefits Microsoft way more than Sony and Nintendo, so they are trying to get the ball rolling and make themselves look like the good guy in the inevitable ensuing legal challenges from Sony and Nintendo. There's a bit of speculation here on my part but I have worked in digital legislation so I'm not just pulling it out of my arse

I definitely will get it, finally my first Forza ever! I'd rather get FH6 this year on Ps5, but as you said it makes a lot of sense for them businesswise to push FH6 to next year. But if we get the game now and FH6 is pushed far away - they should continue to give updates. What's the Forza community supposed to do with a years long drystreak? I mean us PS5 players have tons to do ofc which im so excited! Cleared Motorfest and now Forza is the next game to get addicted to!
