@@tserr3882momentum only matters with getting through hills so small hard tires and really smooth and slippery Would work best being heavy means more mass to help friction keep you still. Inertia would hurt you more than momentum helping that’s why soap box cars are built the way they are

My friends and i used to do this a couple years back we would go to the top of the mountain around were we lived put the car in neutral and just let gravity do the work it was fun as hell and also dangerous To be clear it was on a paved road with houses surrounding not a mountain with no roads

The thin tires definitely helped, I used to soap box race and went to the world championships every year. The most important part of the car other than how low the driver is was the wheels, they had to be specific weight and had just a tiny strip of rubber

Zack was in the lead because even though he was the lightest he had a very small body therefore less wind was pushing against them slowing him down you jack might have been the heaviest but you're also the biggest so he had more wind hitting against you slowing you down

There are EventLab races that act like soapbox races where throttle gets cut after the first checkpoint

The reason why you two were so slow is a little bit of air resistance but mostly rolling resistance. The latter being the resistance from your tires sticking to the road. So everything that increases your contact patch, wider tires or lower tire pressure, increases traction which makes rolling worse. Of course in the case of the Velociraptor you have 6 tires which makes it the worst. The ideal soapbox would have very thin tires with high pressure. Barely enough traction to do the corners.

Idea I also sent to AR12: No Prep drag racing. Rules: No Super, Sports or Hypercars (Ford GT, Corvettes, Ferrari's etc. Banned), no AWD cars, Stock tire tread only (simply because drag tires stick to everything) Tire size changes permitted, 2,800 LBS minimum, everything else must be fully upgraded. Tune how you please. Edit: Almost forgot, no engines above 8 Cylinders.
