what the game needs it tire sets that can be changed at the start of a race or in free roam. you dont see pro race teams show up with one type of tire they have different types and before the race starts they change them to fit weather and track conditions.

You could set the game on autodrive and have it do laps of a circuit, that way the variable (your driving) is removed. You can check peak cornering speed on varying setups, peak G-force etc. Of course, I'm not 100% sure the autosteering is perfectly accurate every single lap, but I'd imagine it's more consistent than a human would be. Especially when the time difference comes down to tenths of a second.
I would be incredibly interested in seeing the Drag Slicks aired up and compared directly to the Street and Sport Compounds for cornering. The Drags fit in between those others as far as PI budget, and I have a feeling that the drags might outperform on lower (D

@@ConnerSpeed6 I wonder if the under steer could be tuned out with some roll bar adjustments? The adjustable ARBs are also super cheap on PI, and I know they can be used in that way but I'm not great at identifying what the fix for over vs under steer (front vs rear adjustment and why one would make more sense) I did a bunch of testing last night using auto drive and a 10 lap circuit track with the same car, just the different tires installed, all aired to 30lbs f/r recorded the first lap, best lap, overall time and the PI value of each setup. I used a hand tuned A class Buick GNX with everything installed possible. Stock A 731: 1st: 58.387 Best: 55.087 TTL: 9.17.848 Drag S1 811: 1st: 55.434 Best: 52.728 TTL: 8.52.580 Street A 798: 1st: 54.799 Best: 51.518 TTL: 8.41.221 Sport S1 827: 1st: 53.094 Best: 49.711 TTL: 8.23.754 Rally S1 831: 1st: 52.822 Best: 49.750 TTL: 8.23.131 S-Slick S1 852: 1st: 51.521 Best: 48.436 TTL: 8.10.035 So after using this method the results are exactly what you would expect from an AI driver. I went back and drove each tire a few laps with all assists off, manual(no clutch so I could pay attention to the cars feel more) and my conclusions were thus: Drags had the most comparable braking times/feel to the semi slicks, however the understeer was really bad and I lost a lot of time braking for turns. Coming out of corners the drags just hook up. Never spun a tires running the drags. Street, sport, rally all break loose and cause potential spin out with too much throttle on turn exit. Sport and Rally are virtually identical in feel to me I almost every way, until you slip a drive tire off the track a little and the the rally keeps grip, while sport will lose a little and spin if you're on the throttle. I feel like there's a way to get drags to corner better, but I'm very limited in my knowledge of tuning in Forza. Sorry for the boom and I hope this was helpful!

Also a big difference in the road surface along with weight of the car. On wet cobblestone like in Guanajuato, Race slicks are like on ice. Semi Slicks definitely the choice and Rally tires perform pretty well also.

In my S1 Griffith, I raced it in MP with full slicks, it outgripped everyone easily, but when it came to the straights, it couldn't keep up, but when I switched it to semi-slicks, it still had a ton of grip, but I added more power (and 7 speed gearbox so it can top out higher) and it seems faster. Haven't tested it in MP yet though.

I think most people would just stick with the semi-slick tires instead of the full-slicks. The difference in overall grip is just to small to really be worth it if you can squeeze just a few more horses out the engine. What i think is also important is the behavior of a tire and how it reacts to steering inputs. You see, yesterday i was busy playing with my drag slicks equipped F40LM (allows it to be raced in S1 class if AWD is equipped) and, while it works fine, if handeling is a bit floaty. Compare it to my A800 class RX7, i noticed that car it's handeling was more consitent. What seems to be happening is that, when you turn, the drag-slicks seem to understeer for a few milliseconds, and increase the turning radius, before turning in properly, therefore it's inconsistent. Meanwhile the RX7, it's consistent. It doesn't get that split second of understeer. It will hold it's turning radius at speed. Maybe that's something worth pointing out if you ever do some tests with the odd-choice tire compounds like the full off-road cross country tires and the drag slicks
@ConnerSpeed62 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with you! The semi-slicks seem to be the way to go. Especially since the weather varies race to race. Slicks would definitely be the way to go on S2 Rivals builds though
@racdude016 ай бұрын
Since the semis allow for more power to be added, r pretty close in dry and better in wet I’d say they r the best all around choice. I really only use slicks if the car I’m upgrading doesn’t make to the top of a class with just semis

I wouldn't say .2 is a huge margin, also it's one you'll get back with more power from the 7 PI deficit. Also, did you check Lateral Gs? I noticed it does NOT increase with slicks as expected.

Yeah, it really didn't! Towards the end of the video I came to the conclusion that the Semi's were probably the way to go! Especially since online racing is u predictable with the weather!

i'd like to see this same comparison, in the wet between the semis and rally tires, only adjust the PI back to 900 with the tire swaps ... i am thinking the margin might shrink even a little more. i have been running rally tires on almost everything - they seem to be a lot more forgiving with dirt drops and kerbs, and let you drizzle on a few more HP to boot.

Haven't tested this but I'm almost certain the tires also are different when ur past the traction limit. Semi slicks are easier to manage when sliding or spinning , the slicks need faster adjustments. I think overall the slicks have less grip past its traction limit. Which maybe explains why they are less grippy on launches than semis. I did a few rwd drag races, just floored it spinning nd never shifted and passed the line in first. The semis were .2 s faster
