Im buying an XBOX series S as a holiday present to myself solely due to my desire to play Forza for the 1st time. Do you think Forza 5 would be a good starting point for someone new to racing games and mostly more familiar w Gran Turismo style racers?

Long reply incoming; - as a fan of GT too, Forza feels far more arcadey and a lot less emphasis is put on clean racing, so it's definitely less simulation and more fun/variety. It's a bit of a halfway between GTA 4 and Gran Turismo, if you can imagine how that'd feel. The tuning is fairly in-depth, and you can do quite a lot with engine swaps and bolt-ons, so if all that sounds like your kind of thing, FH5 should suit you quite well. Just be aware that online isn't as... sophisticated as it is in Gran Turismo, and players WILL make things difficult for you, especially if you prefer clean, respectful racing. You'll have to play a little dirty in return, or get pushed around. If a good online experience is what you're looking for, I'd steer clear and go for Motorsport instead (which imo, still isn't at the level of serious racing sims, griefers are still numerous.) I cut out a lot of the toxicity I encounter each week, because I don't want to encourage it. FH5 is a very enjoyable open world half-sim, half-arcade racer. It's more a game to enjoy a few hours a week than one to grind and really aim to tackle leaderboards on. I'm personally really looking forward to the new Motorsport, but am still having a heap of fun with Horizon.

Haven't played this game extensively since the Hot Wheels expansion. Glad to see the weekly chores are still just as boring as ever with the same idiotic playerbase in TEAM races. Before I stopped playing, I started to care less and less about front-running in the trail and started to make more efforts in helping other, slower players finish in higher spots overall by cucking the drivatars. Was about the only thing that kept the trails from being complete snoozefests for me. Would also probably make your videos more interesting by doing that instead as well. Just a suggestion.

I'll definitely give that a try next week, hadn't really thought about doing that, but it makes sense. I'm hoping next week will be a better experience, because this past month was absolute trash (although I did end up enjoying the more challenging PR stunts.) I'll likely be switching up content anyway. I've got some ideas I wanna try, but whether or not it'll tank this brand new channel is unknown. I've been oddly-lucky with the algorithm for a channel with only three videos.

How would you rate the Forza 5 in comparison to GT7?? As in...if you could only afford to get only one of these games...which would you choose? GT7 has completely turned me off due to their microtransactions shenanigans and overall lack of cars and fun missions to do w varied cars. Would you consider Forza 5 to be an overall better quality game?? Lastly, what is currently your favorite racer at the moment?? You strike me as more of an Asetto Corsa guy but i could be wrong lol

As a racer, GT7 wins hands down, but if I had to choose only one to play, FH5 just edges it out due to GT7's predatory microtransactions. I don't want to normalize paying more money in a game I've already paid full price for. GT7 is overall higher quality though, imo. My favourite racer oddly enough is iRacing, but I have a soft spot for BeamNG (not really a racer, but I'm a massive physics geek and their damage modelling is second to none), and I also enjoy a bit of Project Cars on occasion. Truthfully, my favourite games are Soulsbornes haha. Huge Souls nerd, have 100%'d all of the games from Demon's Souls to Elden Ring.
