@@RandoTechInfo can't wait! I had a fossil gen 3, 2 gen4s and gen 5 now....only bought 1 rest were warranty replacements...the batteries die too soon after a year and the screens shatter too easily.....hybrid does everything I need and I miss analog dials! Your review will definately help me decide if I want this or just go back to analog watches entirely! Thanks Fossil does 50% off trade in too so I'm giving up my gen 5 that's out of warranty...battery only lasts 10 hours...a year ago it lasted 20

Thank you for the review! I've heard some complaints about the vibration strengt of the Fossil hybrid, e.g it not being strong enough to wake one up with the alarm function. How do you find the vibration strength on the 6th gen?
@RandoTechInfo2 жыл бұрын
It's not bad. I have the vibration setting set to STRONG and I feel it's on par with most of my other smartwatches, that said, not sure I'd rely on it for an alarm, especially since there is no speaker.
@AceInvader2 жыл бұрын
I personally have good success with it as an alarm, at least with the hybrid hr. Much more comfortable than some obnoxious sound. If you're worried, set a backup audio alarm. Never a bad idea to have a backup

I'm a heavy sleeper. Even my iPhone is not loud enough to wake me up. lol. Nothing beats the old mechanical alarm clock with bell ringers. lol

The video is awesome and informative....only one thing, do we get call alerts as well?

Yep. Just the alert though. Since the watch has no speaker, you will need to actually answer the call on your phone. Glad you liked the video!

@@RandoTechInfo please include a comment on the heart rate sensor's accuracy, if it fogs like it's predecessor, and if you can lap times in the running stopwatch. Thanks 🙂
@RandoTechInfo2 жыл бұрын
@@vicusi21 I don't have any real good way to test the accuracy of the heart monitor. I can tell you the watch tells me my resting heart rate is close to that of my other wearables, so either they're all pretty good or they all suck. I have had no issues with the watch fogging up. There does not seem to be a lap function with the stopwatch. You can simply start, pause, and stop. Hope that helps..

Thanks for the great video! It looks like you got the brown variant of the watch, which I'm looking into as well. The embedded screen seems to be brown but aren't E-Ink screens only black and white? How does it look in real life? I also heard the brown seems almost black in certain lighting conditions. Let me know, thanks! :)
@RandoTechInfo2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you liked the video! I did indeed get the brown variant and you are correct, E-Ink screens are usually black and white, but there is a brown tint across the whole face and I'm not exactly sure how it's done. Perhaps the glass is tinted? In real life the watch looks good. It looks more black in lower light. I have posted a couple more pictures on my Instagram account if you want to check them out. @RandoTechInfo2 жыл бұрын
@@raemchoi1524 in good light the screen is very readable. Double tapping the screen also back lights it so readability shouldn't be too bad especially with a lighter watch face.

Is there a backlight for the face for this version? The double tap the screen for light? if there is, is it reliable? the previous one was extremely unreliable for me
@HeyElliott2 жыл бұрын
I looked at them in person this week at the Fossil store and asked this same question. The rep said they carried over the same 4 little lights from the previous generation watch. Very disappointing. As you, I owned the prior generation and the back light on the border was a joke and virtually useless in low light.
@minhdo19932 жыл бұрын
@@HeyElliott dang i guess no improvement on that then, yeah the only thing i was disappointed was the backlight doesn't work 100% of the time, if it was it would be my full time watch, i usually switch to a full smartwatch at night for visibility, thanks for the reply!

@Bernard Do Yes, there is a backlight and you do double tap the screen to activate it. It works... most of the time, but you have to tap pretty hard.

The hand moving along with the menu selection blocks the icon, which is already white when selected anyway. Who thinks up these things LOL.
@MythicSuns2 жыл бұрын
I like it because it makes it easier to quickly scroll through the menu as opposed to the purely horizontal menu layout they had before; one of the minor issues with digital ink displays is that they have a 1 fps frame rate (or something close to 1 fps) which can make scrolling difficult, but since the watch hands don't have this issue you can sort of use them as a makeshift mouse cursor and just let go of the up or down button once the hands are over the menu item you want to select.
