It must be nice to be near a pond and not have to worry about there being snakes or alligators in it, lol. Those are always a concern where I'm from. Glad to see some good specimens today, and looking forward to seeing more tomorrow.

Did you find much use for the larger tools, the shovel, sledge hammer etc? I'm looking to get hammers/chisels ready for when I go next year and wondered if it's worth the extra
@TheYorkshireFossilHunter3 жыл бұрын
To be honest no but i reckon if i went again i would still take them just incase. This trip was at the end of my uk road trip and i was exhausted so didnt have the energy to swing a sledgie ha ha

Hi Mark! Me and hubby have something to show you which we found at boggle hole a few years back, a couple of people have said they are meteorite. We wondered what you thought? Hubby is going to phone a museum see what they think but we would love to send you a photo and we don't know how. We don't have Facebook, Instagram anything like that ahhh! Rachel and Nigel.

Trilobites were like other arthropods and molted their skins several times each year. That is why the vast majority of your trilobite fossils are only parts of their anatomy. If there was a volcanic event there is likely to be a higher concentration of complete specimens (live animals caught unexpectedly) in that stratum. Hope you find it!

Very nice indeed.

Trilobites moult as they grow, like crabs, which is why you are finding lots of incomplete shells and why there are different sizes of shells of the same species. You have found a great place there. I have looked for years for Trilobites. Looking forward to part 9. The UK expert on Trilobites is Dr Richard Fortey and he has written some really good books on his lifetime study of Trilobites. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Fortey

Brilliant location Mark 👍🏻 Have you only found trilobites in this quarry or are there other marine creatures like shells, corals? And how old are the finds? Is it Devonian Period? Because the trilobites I found two years ago have the same colored stone and belong to Mid and Early Devonian (~385-419 million years old) ⛏️

First time I've been here mate and yes only trilobites so far. Roughly 400 million years old so very impressive fossils
