​@@halloumi420 provided they find the body. sometimes people just.. disappear. Even non druggies, look up the 411 cases for various examples. Sometimes they are found dead. Sometimes they're simply never found. Also, while genalogy has helped with a lot of cases, there are still some John/Jane Does out there who simply haven't been found out yet. Also, while yes, they can use a model from the skull to a certain degree, the skull doesn't give all of the information. A skull can't tell you what colour hair the person had, what colour eyes. To a certain extent it might be able to tell you the race of the person, but it probably won't be able to tell you the exact skin colour, or if there were any distinguishing birth marks or other non bone type defects. then you have the cases where the head isn't found, or when the body is found so broken into pieces that piecing it together would prove impossible. Dental records only work if the teeth aren't all destroyed or missing, etc etc.
