Exactly dude is probably going to spend it on beer, community bookshelf right 🙄 Then again I found $600 or $700 when I worked retail and turned it into the manager who I'm fairly certain kept it. Should've kept the money myself because no-one ever claimed it. The manager did give me $100, said because it was found on company time it was theirs so the rest likely went into the managers pockets.

This guy just spent time and money making your huge lawn look perfect, and you don't even take a moment to say, hmmmm, maybe this is a blessing that should go back to this guy for all his hard work, or at least for the gasoline????? This is a generational thing. "Children" in their 20s and even 30s, expect that everything is for them. They feel entitled. No time for moral reasoning. If any of my kids ever acted like this even when they were little, I would correct them right quick. As it is, my all 3 of mine are more like this worker.. They're all honest too. I hope the homeowner reads this. Maybe it will help him to understand consideration for others. As for you Top Notch, you're a good man. Your reward in heaven is far greater.

We have a community library box in Sharpesville, Indiana, USA. Its very well used and respected, new books are put in it regularly by the people that use it. Appreciate your honesty and integrity on the $100 bill too!
I have a "found money" jar I keep all of the coins I find on the ground as well as the occasional bills. The most I've ever found at a time was 2 twenty dollar bills. Every thing I find goes into that jar until it is full and then it goes to a needy charity. Occasionally it will go to someone who presents an immediate need before the jar gets a chance to fill up. If someone is standing nearby when I find money I will ask them if it is theirs but nine times out of ten they do not claim it. I never consider the found money mine which removes the temptation to keep it. I think you did the right thing in offering it to the home owner and the homeowner did the right thing in not keeping it for himself and using it for others. $100 was a big temptation but you did not fall for it. May God bless you.

The finder does not automatically acquire title under the generally assumed law of “finders-keepers.” Lost property law requires a finder of lost property to return the property to its owner, if known, or hand it over to the police if the owner is not known. If the police are unable to find the owner, the cash usually comes back to the finder after a period of time.

That $100 bill could have blown from clear across the city...1,2,3 or more years ago. So what "really" happened here was that "you" the "Lawn groomer" PAID that "Homeowner" $100 to let you clean up his HUGE yard for "FREE" that he NEGLECTED to do himself because he couldn't get off his lazy a$$!!! Again...it Was Not his money! If that Homeowner had even an ounce of dignity or integrity he should have said something like "good for you" and left it at that! Just a free-loader!!! 😤

I'm not sure how to feel about this one. He should have given you the money, but IF he really creates a book nook, that would be cool. There are several in my area, and there are food ones too where people set in nonperishable foods for the needy. In the book ones, you're supposed to trade, so if you find a book you like, you take it and put in another book for others. They're generally glass-faced cabinets that are weather tight, and I think they're a great idea. I hope he follows through with his promise, because otherwise, your double good deed would be for nothing (except the comfort of having done a good deed twice over).

yeah I agree with you on that. Lately alot of those lawn care channels do these "community in need" things and they need to be really careful that people do not abuse their help and willingness to help. Otherwise every lazy John, Dick and Harry will call them up saying they are "in need" while they are just trying to save $ or avoid the work. Kinda like Instragram "stars" behavior, I get free dinner you get the publicity kinda attitude. You cut my lawn for free you get the video to upload... Anyhow, great vid as always with great result.

You could always justify keeping the money since it was found on the street. It was not on "his" property. No one thinks twice about turning it into the city....He should have given it back to you and said it was "yours" to keep and for you to find the best use of it. Your heart felt better after doing it, so you did an honorable deed. Bless you....

I worked for a hotel for a few years and I did several jobs like maintenance banquets laundry stripped rooms made beds, dishes and cooked for hundreds of people. I was stripping rooms after a huge group of people for memorial weekend and found 300$ in a bed. I was supposed to be working that floor with several people and nobody was conveniently around. I stood there for literally ten minutes wondering if it was staged by guests to see what I’d do, or by staff to see if I’d take it, but at the time I worked so many departments I thought I deserved it I’d work from 8 am to sometimes stay the night to get up earlier the next day and go to three or four of the departments. I kept it. I wish now that I’d have turned it in. We only get a few moments in life that shows people our true integrity. I would have got the personal satisfaction of being honest and trustworthy, and if guests dropped it I would have earned their respect. But I didn’t turn it in and two seconds after I put it in my pocket the other people started walking down the hall asking about me. And I didn’t get housekeeping very much after. I’m glad you did the right thing even though they didn’t. You got the upper hand now good on you.

That’s a good story on decision making. Now you know what you’ll do next time 🙂
