Its the City of Chicago Fire department if you Google chicago fire department E - to 51 you can see pictures of what it looked like when it was in service... Also where exactly is this located if anyone knows because I head up a group of individuals who catalog the whereabouts of vehicles owned by the Chicago Fire department both presently and in the past

Love to know why the older ladder truck is abandoned. That's not a normal thing to just dump. They are super expensive and people actually collect them
@takeitliketexas5 жыл бұрын
It was purchased the brand new in 1985 by the City of Chicago and they just sold it within the last 2 or 3 years at auction there was nothing much to save on it after the city salvage what parts they could

Hi, that old fire truck is called a Simon Snorkel fire engine if I'm correct. A sweet explore, you scared me going up that high, I thought that highest step had given way. Thanks for sharing. x

Do you ever get scared going in these abandoned places?
@lordexplores5 жыл бұрын
da memegod There's always a risk but I'm not usually afraid. Unless it's a neighborhood with high crime rate then I have to be on higher guard.

The fire truck (tower ladder) in the video is a CHICAGO FIRE DEPARTMENT apparatus. It is labeled E251. This is a number given to reserve apparatus in the fire department’s fleet...E and then the number. Each type of vehicle has it’s own letter. At one time this vehicle was front line. I believe it was manufactured by EONE, which is still in business, and is from the late 80’s early 90’s. The years are a guess. It’s a shame to see it mutilated like that. In it’s day I am sure it helped out a lot of people that called 911 in Chicago.
@takeitliketexas5 жыл бұрын
It's a 1985 model and the number E - to 51 is not a number assigned a to reserve apparatus is a number that is assigned at the time the vehicle is purchased and that number sticks with the truck from when its 1st delivered a brand new all the way until they get rid of it
@polishchicken12215 жыл бұрын
Sorry I was not more clear with my response. Yes, ^ you^ are correct with the number being given to the vehicle when it arrives at the department and its history. Yet, when it goes to a reserve and or retired status, it is then labeled and called by that number. That was the direction I was coming from.fire.fandom.com/wiki/Chicago_Fire_Department (E251) 1985 E-One Hurricane / Federal aerial (-/-/95' rear-mount platform) (ex-Tower Ladder 23)
