I live in a tiny town. There’s a house that sat vacant for 7 years because the occupant was doing time in prison. Everything was left exactly how he left it. Aside from the back door being broken, because some neighborhood teens would get into the house for whatever reason, everything was in really good shape. I currently own the house, and lived there for 10 years.

Mold expert here- y’all NEED to get respirators and wear them when you go into houses like this. The level of mold you are exposing yourself to is dangerous, not to mention likely asbestos and potential lead as well. It will absolutely affect your health in those high levels. It’s always sad to see someone’s personal things left untouched as they had left them. Clothes still hanging in closets and things that were important to them left to the mercy of Mother Nature and the elements. Kind of like no one cared enough to collect their personal things or they had no value to anyone other than the person who owned them. It’s a glimpse into someone’s life and it was someone’s home where they spent a good amount of their time. That’s what makes it sort of sad. Kind of like none of it mattered much. Glad to see, place hasn't been vandalized and plundered. It's a shame no family took care of property. Don't know about Cadillac outback, but the Chevy Fire, possibly 41ish Chevy behind that, and definitely what looks like Oldsmobile in garage could fetch a price. Their regular and much newer fridge konked out and delivery the new one was a week out. So it served as their main home refrigerator for that week.

Definitely a single guy's house. The house, especially the kitchen, is straight out of the 1970s - the avocado green countertops and harvest gold dishwasher, as well as the yellow shag carpeting, are the giveaways on the time period. Also, the house was built in 1973 and was never remodeled, so it wouldn't be from the 1980s. Car behind the house is a Cadillac from the early 60s. Probably somewhere in rural Georgia judging by the Georgia license plates in the cupboard and the thick trees and foliage around the large deck falling apart outside. Also the confederate paraphernalia and NASCAR cut out denotes stereotypical Southern roots. Hence why it says address undisclosed. No need to disclose it. Prob not many people around that area so it stays untouched.

he could have been but not necessarily. when i was a kid a local bank was upgrading their computers and i got like 14 386 computers. My guess is that those are from a highschool given the stations identifiers on the side during the transition to computers. He prob was just the lucky one that got em
@Hqhq-012 ай бұрын
I don't know, I'm a gonna hafta disagree. If he were a repairman then the typewriters would all be different models, but those are all identical. I can't offer any really good theories about them, though. I like the one poster who suggested that they might have been from a school that replaced them with computers but my reservation about that theory is that they look too expensive and too professional for any kind of grade school or high school. They might have come from a community college or technical school, or from a business that closed down.

I'm a carpenter for a city housing authority. I work in vacant units. Sometimes tenants leave their fridge behind. My best advice is to never open up an old fridge

Why?
@AgentJTV2 ай бұрын
People leaving leftover foods cause it to go bad and turn poisonous. There was once an abandoned super market that was left to rot and ended up having to be deep cleaned by a hazard team. It's why you should always wear a mask when going into old homes. You never know what's in old food, furniture and dust. Hope this answers your question.

I live in Georgia, this house looks like so many houses i've been in, down to the 1980 Bulldogs coke bottle. Every old guy here has one of those. The CSA memorabilia and flags, the wood grain everything, the landscape outside, the old cars, so many of the mundane things inside are just like half of the houses i've been in when I was a kid, not so much anymore. I have a buddy that does have a house that looks almost just like that though lol. I know this guy has a dark past and all of that, so it does kinda give all the mundane/normal Georgia man aesthetic an uneasy feeling. I'd take that TV all day, back when TVs were also furniture. I have a huge record player/radio like that, it was my first piece of furniture.

Considering they were in the bedroom and there was only 2 (not enough to redo a kitchen) and there's clear signs a woman also lived there - remember back in the 1980s and 1990s, popular in Southern states at craft fairs were the ladders that you got Santa, Elves, dogs, and whatever you wanted that would hang on the ladders for whatever holiday or occassion. My mom had a couple of them herself, and I remember seeing them everywhere even places like Silver Dollar City back in the 1980s. Google "vintage Christmas ladder"; Santa Ladders have been a thing for decades.

I bought two properties in 1988 when I was 16 years old. There was a deep freezer in the garage. The place had been vacant for 20 years. Me and a friend opened the deep freeze and a horrid vapor escaped...we freaking passed out alone in there for 3 hours that's how sickening it was. When we finally came to choking and puking we saw the freezer was full of decayed huge fish. Probably carp.🤢 Anyway we closed it and got outside as quickly as we could. Hazmat had to come and dispose of the freezer. We were sick with sore throats for about two weeks. Inside the trailer was SO much worse. There was a dead pet monkey hanging from a thorn tree in the backyard. Apparently it got its collar stuck in the torns and they had no way to save it. The torns were about 2 inches long and needle sharp. I had the tree cut down and burned it.
