You can use cardboard boxes to block weeds. My grandparents did it every year for years. They had some of the best fruit and vegetables and they sold a lot of it.

I was taught to place newspaper around the pants and in the walkways to block weeds. You just lay it out and it slowly composts down blocking weeds. You do have to reapply ever year of course as it breaks down by the next year, but it also gives you the advantage of not using a plastic like the weed block which is adding more micro plastic particles into your food. Plus you could pick it up for free at those big recycling bins. Its a win for you and a win for our environment.

Landscape fabric is reusable. I left mine on over the winter to keep weeds down. It worked well. Using random pieces of fabric is fine if you anchor it down & overlap the pieces. Cardboard works very well as does newspaper & it's free. You've got to be frugal to make your garden worth it. Being creative pays off. Wishing you your best garden ever! 🎉👏🏻

Those big demi-johns were used to hold battery acid back in the day at auto garages. Be careful if you try to wash use gloves. Those are not water bottles for a cooler but have value. I would not even clean it but take it to the flea market with the box. You could get between $25 to $50 if your market is like here in Georgia.

The revelation of the cost of having your own garden. All the things you said plus paying for water if you're not on a well. It works out to be cheaper to just go buy your vegetables from the farmers market. But then you don't get the satisfaction of growing something.

Hi Taco. What a day of trash picking. You got some nice stuff. The bottle is cool but I like the box more than the bottle, is that weird?, . The enamel pan was rather nice it would be great for outside decor . It could be hung on a garage or fence. Yes gardens are nice but they have a down side. And the cost is crazy unless you start your own plants from seed, and use newspaper or cardboard to keep down the weeds. But if you want a big garden you most likely need to buy plants . I’ve never enjoyed gardening myself but my husband would do a few tomato plants and zucchini, peppers, and such . I do like to grow flowers. Take care. PEACE. ✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️🥰🥰🥰🦮🦮🦮🦮🦮🦮🦮🥰🥰🥰💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

Garden fabric and plastic is put down for only a couple reasons I've been told be my 82 year old mom, one to warm up the soil so you can plant sooner and two for less weeding. Majority of amateur gardeners don't use because the ROI isn't there. You should try it with bare soil once, to see how goes. Good day out 👍👍
