You say you've not made much progress this week but I reckon you've done really well. Your determination and enthusiasm had you out when it was snowing and in the workshop despite it being freezing cold to get stuff done and I think most people would probably have stayed at home in the warm - I know I would have!

It's always satisfying when a part fits, especially when it's made from scratch with cardboard templates - which I know you do, and that folder is a God send. You are fortunate to have found an independent Porsche specialist, can you imagine a main stealer cost for your 356 colander panels........😨

The attention to detail is ultra important on the rigidity of the chassis. If you skimp on any aspect you will affect the driveabillity and safety under breaking ect so stick to what your doing. Excellent work as always. 👍

Awesome work as always. Finishing that engine bay will be a massive motivation too. Those days where you spend the entire day and only have a small amount of progress to show for it can be frustrating, but it's all cumulative. You can have the big wins without all the little steps being in place first. Keep it up Dom, it's going to be amazing!

Perfection takes time, you don't want to rush something like this after all you don't want anything failing when you put the engine in. Hope in the cold you're drinking plenty of hot drinks, you don't want your core getting cold. My son invested in a floor heat pad for his workshop, when he's stood or working in one place he knows that on a freezing day he's not going to get cold. Might be worth a try. 👍

Dom, Its normally, where ever possible, to leave the metal piece that you will be replacing, in place until you have made the new replacement piece. This way you have the original section as reference and a good guide. Keep up the good work and all the very best for 2024.

Don’t get sucked into short cuts Dom, you’ll never strip it to level ever again, so remove all traces of the tin worm that you can safely do, treat everything as you go, and do not take short cuts, I speak from experience from a number of Land Rover restorations, now have. Wolf that will be the best ever when I’m done ! PS My Dog (Bonnie, the Great Dane), is my constant helper in my garage too, couldn’t do it without her 😅

I love your work, Dom. Attention to detail is exactly why we do these crazy things.. Pride in workmanship comes before all else.. Whereas you have to deal with the cold, we here have the opposite, it's the heat..(Queensland, Australia) when it's 33C outside, inside the shed it's 40C. I'm working on a '64 Morris 850 Mini ( and in my spare time a '44 Ford GPW jeep and a Willys 1/4ton Trailer) Love the wee doggie, lost mine a few days ago, saddest day ever. He was old, 14 years and my constant companion and workmate. ( He was the foreman, so gave myself a day off work) I loved him to bits. Keep up the good work.

I was similarly surprised when I cut open my Herald’s windscreen frame and saw shiny bare metal inside, even though it was in a place I knew would’ve stayed dry! For those awkward repairs where grinder access is difficult I find a die grinder with a carbide burr bit to grind out what you can’t cut and / or a Dremel with a flexible extension and a tiny cutting disk (their EZ lock ones) can really help. Those panels do look good, looking forward to seeing them go in!
