I did a drive by at the inlet where you were fishing last Sunday. There is a no fishing sign almost directly behind where you were standing, so I didn't stop. I went further south and flipped a net and got some pilchards. Caught a couple under slot snook and, to my surprise, a bluefish while wade fishing a flat near some mangroves.

@FishAholicTV2 жыл бұрын
Hey Gerard, the next good weather window I’ll probably take the boat out. I did take my uncle out on the boat for a short trip yesterday but we only caught one snook and lost a few that grabbed the back of our bait but didn’t commit. And then the storms rolled in so we got off the water just in time before the down pour, and thunder and lightning

@FishAholicTV2 жыл бұрын
I was just pulling back in a slow swinging motion. My hooks sets with a J hook are typically much faster and harder. Also I was going that to put a little bit more pressure on them so they couldn’t turn their head in the current and get me on the structure which still ended up happening haha. Thanks for watching Derek! Tight Lines!

Rich, love the seasonal species changes and drone footage you've captured on your channel - I was wondering if a tool , which I've unsuccessfully looked for, exists whereby you could reach into a fish that's swallowed the hook and clip the barb or clip the shaft in half, thus making it easier for them to shed the residual. If anybody would know, it'd be you or one of your subs.
@willtrotter81782 жыл бұрын
My only idea would be a pair of long handled snips (tin snips or something like that). They would work well for smaller wire and medium sized hooks. Several websites appear to have more scissor like variations that could fit down most throats of fish that are bigger than a 1lb largemouth bass
@johnat1362 жыл бұрын
@@willtrotter8178 thanks Will - I think that is currently the best option. Would like to eventually see something w/ a reach capable of cutting a thicker gauge wire.

When things like that happen, I cut the line and I use a little nose to remove the hook grabing it from the point. Hope it helps.

Cover isn't structure.
@FishAholicTV2 жыл бұрын
Hmm to me it is. It is part of the structure that attracts fish. Those mangrove limbs hang down in the water around the rocks that are on the bottom. Do you not consider a boat dock structure either...? It’s the same thing in a way. The pilings are in the water and dock itself is above the water creating a shadow line for fish to hide and ambush their prey. The roof on your house or apartment is part of the structure of the building I could go on and on. Tight Lines Christopher thanks for watching 🎣
