Ahhh I feel this on an emotional level!!! When I had acne I honestly thought I would never wear light coverage foundations, through my entire life. When I started going makeup free even with acne (shocker I could even do that!!) my acne started to clear- Less clogs, less stress etc. now it’s amazing I can still feel so confident with light or no makeup everyday!

Light coverage foundations generally don't cover up my acne so i tend to go for a full coverage look. But despite many attempts to moisturize and exfoliate my skin well .. my makeup after a while always tends to look cakey .. especially in summer.

i love these videos because they break down information in an informative, rather than persuasive, way, with a different kind of detail than most makeup related videos do. you mentioned exercise in this as a contributing factor to the decision between full or light coverage foundation, and considering the rise in brands creating a line of makeup products to use at the gym or while working out, i would love to hear your thoughts on that topic!!

This means so much for me to hear!! I really love exploring the science of skin and chem of cosmetics but sometime feel embarrassed or that it’s too nerdy- it’s so amazing knowing others appreciate it!!! And I feel you on the foundation flipping. I switch too all depending on the day!! I still wouldn’t recommend working out with makeup on however, even if makeup is made to hold up. When the skin sweats, I feel we should let it do what it wants to do!

@@123lol27 oh no!! just curious, what have you tried so far? i have acne-prone, textured oily skin and am trying out the too faced born this way matte foundation b/c i wanted a light but fuller coverage-wear than what i had previously (it cosmetics your skin but better cc cream). i’ve always researched a ton and found that estee lauder doublewear is also full coverage but light on your face as well! 💙

hi I have a video suggestion: can you make a video about what ingredients mean in a foundation? or how to choose a good vs a bad foundation? you made a video about what ingredients mean in skincare but I am having trouble finding a good foundation. I have cystic acne and a lot of scars on my face and a lot of redness. also have super large pores and oily skin. I have tried a lot of foundations and they all accentuate my scars. I only use foundation on special occasions to cover my T-zone’s pores, so I use either a full coverage one, or a pore-specific primer w/ or without a light foundation. During daytime I prefer my skin to breathe & I reapply sunscreen, so I don’t normally use foundation.

Almost everything I use breaks me out, but ideally I want a budge-proof full coverage foundation like Estee Lauder double wear. But that one breaks me out. Right now I'm experimenting with just concealer and powder, but it's a bit silly since I have scars all over my face, so I end up using the concealer almost like foundation.

I really like the Primark Natural Matte foundation and the L'Oreal Infallible works really well for me as well. I have really sensitive skin and those two haven't broke me out.Plus they have a nice medium coverage without being heavy.

I have combination skin. I prefer full coverage when it’s cooler out, and I’m not active. But whenever it’s summertime I prefer light coverage and little to no makeup, because it just feels too “heavy” and uncomfortable for me.

I have to have a full coverage foundation as I have ugly red veins on my cheeks ☹️. I use No7 Beautifully Matte in the Deeply Ivory shade. I fine that is is the best combination for me.
