I really liked this foundation. I do have dry skin and I pretty much have to have a great skin day to wear this stuff. It's extremely clingy to dry patches. That being said, the finish is amazingly beautiful! Also, it stays put all day. Loved your review!

The foundation looked good on you. You did a lot of work to get this to work out for you and as a lazy girl myself I wouldn't have hung in like you did. I can't justify the price for what you get. I love hourglass products and the immaculate is my winter go to but think I will pass on the stick foundation. Love that you put so much effort into actually testing the product. I just found your channel recently and the information you provide is more comprehensive than others which for the over 40 crowd it is helpful.

I purchased this with the brush and you're right, the brush wasn't too too special. I kept it but when I washed it once it became tighter somehow so I kinda stopped reaching out for it. I stopped trying out the foundation as well cause I fell in love with MUFE stick foundation instead, but I should give another try to see how it goes on my skin. I don't remember getting dry patches but I think I didn't quite love it cause it made my skin heavy. Interesting that everyone's skins so different! Thanks for the video :)

I was wondering about the Hourglass Stick Foundation. It looked pretty on you. I have been using the Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick and it seems to work well also. I apply Clinique Super City Block SPF 40 first for sun protection then I do stripes of the foundation stick. I also like to blend it in with my fingers and then take a brush and blend at the jaw line and around edges of my face because the Clinique Super City Block is a little darker than my complexion. The foundation stick is a perfect match and it just disappears. Loved seeing your cute dog in the background.

I have this foundation and it is the one I use the most just because it is quick to apply in the morning. I agree that it can be tricky if you have dry patches and it does start to break up on me a little after I have had it on a really long time like over 12 hours. But, overall I like it. I don't use it under my eyes, either. I also have combination skin and am around your age.

Interesting idea! I may do that in a couple of months...I don't know if you follow me on instagram or snapchat but I talked last week about how I'm up 10 pounds from my usual weight and EVERYTHING I own is too tight on me right now. It's not all being over 40...I've slacked on eating properly and working out too. So I'm working on that. Once I'm more comfortable in my clothing again, I'll do that. Everything about aging is such a struggle, I swear! Thank you so so much!!

Awww...I understand. My weight is a constant struggle and I have slacked myself. I love food and love to drink wine. :) Life is about living but I do like being in my cute clothes verses my yoga pants. I am thinking about starting the 21 Day Fix program next week but it's so hard to do in the summer. I love Taco Tuesday and Wine Wednesday and Taco Thursday...oh wait... I don't think there is a Taco Thursday. HA! :) It's a problem! I love your style and love inspiration!!! :)

So funny. When I purchased mine at Barneys NY they told me the same thing about the skin prep. I bought the stick foundation along with the new brush. My feelings were the same as yours.... I returned it though bec I felt it was unreliable and too much work 😯. I like a foundation that I can count on to look good everyday ! 👍😊. The new Hourglass foundation brush however is a total winner! Lovely brush! I'm sorry the stick foundation didn't work out. It seems so convenient for travel and touch ups....

I am 47 yrs old and in addition to having mature skin, and I also am cursed with ultra dry skin due to living in a severely dry climate. I have recently been giving my skincare a ton of attention in terms of exfoliating and hydrating beyond the normal person. Having said that, I have Co e to realize that any makeup especially foundations will sit so differently on your skin when the prep has been done. This Hourglass Vanish Stick is the best thing I’ve found yet for all my skin challenges. I don’t use a primer under it and it’s amazing for me with my dry skin. Never moves around (I set my makeup with a setting spray that contains no alcohol everyday), and it’s BEAUTIFUL! The finish is skin-like and it’s so pretty and I’ve been considering decluttering the majority of my liquid foundations because they appear heavy on my skin compared to this Vanish stick. I also adore the NARS Velvet Matte foundation stick as well. Additionally, both of these stick foundations look gorgeous when set with the Hourglass Ambient powders. Wow!!

It would probably be a bit of a wait because apparently the company has had over 250 000 requests for it's foundation since it launched just a couple months ago and they're not a huge company yet, but the serum foundation from The Ordinary is better than any super high-end foundation I have ever used. It's better than any foundation I've ever used, period. The serum is a very light version of their foundations and orobably give light to maybe medium coverage. Medium can be built. I have the serum foundation and love it (my HG foundation currently), but I am one of those on the waitlist for the coverage foundation which is more medium to full coverage. The reviews I've seen say it's just like the serum only more coverage (so it will likely be my HG once I try it). It is like a second skin. Feels like nothing is on your face and the shade range is amazing for their launch. The other amazing thing is that in Canada (it's made here but shipped worldwide), a 30ml (standard size for all liquid foundations) is $6.90!! Their skincare is what cured my acne. I have absolutely no acne now and it's from extremely high-end products from The Ordinary but at cheaper-than-drugstore prices. I really think you'd love it if you really love that feeling of skin, only better feel. I hate when makeup makes your skin feel heavy and caked-on. Anyways, just another recommendation. They also have sister brands called Hylamide and NIOD and they're amazing skincare too but have higher price tags because they are more of the innovative side of the company. I have products from 4 of their sister companies and everything is amazing! Not a single complaint. :)

I bought this and tested for about a week different ways but I am going to return it, color is off, don't like the look of it on me and makes me oily, definitely not worth the hype or money in my opinion. I'm actually liking the maybelline instant age rewind foundation (the one with the ball on top) looks very natural, best foundation for wrinkles/fine lines, and my blush & contour are still on over 12 hrs later (using hourglass primer per your recommendation).

Would you make a video on how you started and how you currently use retin-a?
@DaniHMcV
@DaniHMcV 7 жыл бұрын
I recently found Goddess Garden "Face the Day" sunscrren and firming primer. I use acids and retinols so it's perfect for that (non-chemical sunscreen, non-nano) plus it has essential oils that are gorgeous for the skin like helichrysum, lavender and carrot seed oil and it also has niacinamide which as a serum, has completely cured my acne (yep, I'm going to use the word cured). It's moisturizing but not heavy and I especially love it for priming my undereyes. I also use Tarte Shape Tape and find I really need to get my undereyes hydrated or it can look dry. Oh, most importantly, I find it really does hold on to makeup and what I love in oartixular is that there is no silicone, which makes makeup just slide off my oilier face. I bought this primer in Canada but it's made in Colorado so I would imagine it wouldn't be too hard to find down there. I'm not saying for you to go out and buy it, I'd die if someone bought something on my recommendation and then hated it but maybe you can find a sample to see if it could be a good primer for any foundation you come across that does accentuate dry spots from use of acids or retinol. Oh, that reminds me, the description of the primer claims that it has collagen boosting properties that mimic retinols but without the irritation. Anyways, just wanted to let you know about this one. It's great and if you only found that you prefer it for your undereye and dry spots, I still think that's a win. It's organic too if that matters to you. It means a lot to me so that was also a bonus. I've waffled on for too long but maybe look it up and see what you think? It's my HG undereye primer at the very least and with my dry undereyes, that was a great find for me :) Great video!! Think I'll pass on this stick foundation. Stick foundations are difficult for me to begin with so any other messing around, I can't deal with....lol. Thank you for your in-depth review!!!

how did you go back and correct your under eye dryness please thank you
@StephanieMarie
@StephanieMarie 7 жыл бұрын
It's not anything groundbreaking I don't think? I take a makeup wipe and swipe the hollows where I have the concealer...to remove it. And I kind of blend the edges where there's makeup and no makeup with my finger. Then I take my eye cream and pat it back on that area under my eyes and let it sink in a minute. Then I apply my corrector and concealer and blend it in!

Well I soooooo wish I’d found you before buying this 2 weeks ago. I’ve tried every which way and I can’t make it work. That’s after spending £42 in the UK and then the primer in an act of desperation. Unfortunately we can’t return make up products here. And expensive mistake. Now off to follow your method for ELDW which also doesn’t work for me. Fingers crossed. Thank you. Great videos. 😊😊

Thank you for the review! What is a really good hydrating moisturizer and primer??
@StephanieMarie
@StephanieMarie 7 жыл бұрын
Well, for ME (oily/combo), a regular light moisturizer, instead of a mattifying one is plenty. I used Lather Ultra-Light or The Ordinary moisturizer. My Guerlain Meteorites primer holds foundation on nicely for long wear yet doesn't "mattify" or make me oily either. So I went with that. You could possibly try the tried and true Smashbox Photofinish that we all probably have tiny samples of. :)
