Tips that help a little: - warm ur voice with a piano (select notes in order and if the note is higher so make ur voice, when the pianokey gets lower so ur voice), do this for 5-10 minutes, u can choose - U NEED to relax those shoulders (i know at first its hard, but not impossible) , also breath deeply before singing relax, sit straight, and when singing don't ONLY move mouth, u dont need to move all ur body ( when u get better u can move more) finally find a comfortable position. -DO NOT restrain yourself if u try to sing low it wont work (im not saying u need to scream), but u get it. ( I KNOW UR FAMILY MAY BE THERE) so close ur door thats all, if u have siblings get them out the room. -also very important, find ur type of voice, sing with normal tone, so u find what works for u (if u do find, it will be easier) - DO NOT IMITATE THE VOICE OF UR FAVORITE SINGER, i know because i went threw the same thing, it gets easier when u sing WITH UR VOICE - once u think ur ready, try doing karaoke to easy songs u know it took a couple of days but i got better, i hope u too

That analogy with the straw was absolutely perfect.
@neilmckay40974 жыл бұрын
It's not necessarily meant as an analogy. You can literally do the exercise with straw. This also creates a little back pressure on the vocal folds, which saves strain on the voice.

What helps me actually is thinking that I have a little imaginary ball going around my body and it lands on wherever I want to focus my singing on. If I want to do chest voice I imagine it hops on over there and then my voice naturally maneuvers over to chest! I know it sounds incredibly silly but it’s what I do :):)

I love your way of explaining things. I have such a hard time with breath control and engaging the right muscles. I understand the theory and I've seen other teachers using pictures to visualize the parts we need to engage but I can't seem to do it right. My singing is so random. Sometimes it sounds good, sometimes it doesn't, I can't control it. I'm really looking forward to the day I learn how to be in control!

This seems one of your best advice videos. My attention isn't as good as it used to be in my prime, so I'm going to have to replay it a few times more to ensure all has sunk in; but it seems to tackle issues that I think I have. Thank you. (BTW To me vibrato always sounds like the singer isn't capable of holding a note. It really surprised me when I first came across the idea that they were deliberately failing to hold it.)
@think20863 жыл бұрын
I learned from this video that bravado is essentially like going from classical physics to wave based physics, where you have Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle. That's actually genius. You didn't specifically mention the H.U.P. by name, but like all your brilliant explanations of the voice, I was able to make that connection. I've been thinking about that idea more vaguely but the way you articulated it was really good. This whole video is a gem like that. You helped so much with thinking about how things work and confirming things I had suspected.

Need expansion.
@Moon_lulu4 жыл бұрын
Breathe clamly especially when faster. Inhale have open throat. Expansion in ribs and belly as lungs fill up with air. Engage the muscle keeping the air in and out (ab muscles but all around the belly). Manage air. Pay attention on even air.
@Moon_lulu4 жыл бұрын
Start with nasal sound "nnn" Need the support engagement. 2. Keep the pitch nice and steady. Need compresion. Close tighter or loser. Support air string Like a straw "pinching" but pressure increases.
@Moon_lulu4 жыл бұрын
"Na" and "Yah" no accent. Absolute Control in the beginning. "Lah" "Mah" "Yah" • ending of the pitch - resist temptation to squize. Make sure to keep the open space. Don't close the pipe. Continous support is really important. Don't lean on the vocal cord. Keep the support at all times. When softer - activate support even more, by doing sometjing dynamically. Soft palate is lifted.
@Moon_lulu4 жыл бұрын
Flat pitches tend to be flat because we can't hear our voice. Change the vowels softly. Or undertension closing the vowel a bit.
