Cool tools and a very stylish foundry suite! You need to make a leather tie to go with it for laughs and giggles. Looking good Bob. Great work, video, music, editing, and most of all thanks for sharing!

Thanks for evoking fond memories of the great Norm Abrams. Think I still have a number of episodes of NYWS I recorded on the VCR way back when. Now that I think about it, your polished skill at conveying what you're doing and why, calm demeanor and high standards of craftsmanship rival Norm's.

Boy your sculptures in Norway are fantastic, the larger of the 2 looks like a Spinnaker and the large framed section looks like a section of a ships framing. Between the fine Spinnaker lines and the large portion of framing the balance of the sculpture is just amazing. I noticed on one of the videos you produced there is a similar motion and balance of I think sails in motion. I believe its on the property where your workshop is located. The spherical piece I can't seem to put a feel to it but if it had a wind vane inside that would be something. Since I have sailed and spent 40+ years on and in the oceans Im seeing something but cannot put a finger on it. Nicely done Bob!

I have been watching your videos of late, especially your Haven 12 1/2 build which has kept me glued to my screen. I would love to know where you got the plans from if possible, a friend and I would like to build one. We are based in the UK but I'm sure we could get them posted to us. Thank you.

Hi Burt, I'm so happy you are enjoying the video's on building the Haven 12 1/2. Here is a link to where you can purchase plans. www.woodenboatstore.com/collections/joel-white-boat-plans/products/16-haven-12-1-2-class?variant=16904448573530 This summer I started a Boat Building Course online, Boat Building Bootcamp. If you're thinking of building a Haven I think you might enjoy this course. I use the Haven as a teaching example in many of the lessons. You can schedule a one on one call with me at this link. calendly.com/artofboatbuilding/boat-building We can talk about your boat building goals and see if your a good fit for the class. Cheers, Bob

I'd put the "spats?" Under the apron. I wouldn't want molten metal going behind them. I was hoping you were going to cast the ramming tool. Patiently waiting to watch you cast bronze.

Oh yea, I agree.... As an old rancher I found it better to wear the chaps over my boots; This will funnel the liquid away from you and back toward nature.
@thomasarussellsr3 жыл бұрын
Hey Bob, should the chaps not overlap the lower leg/boot protection? Any thing rolling down your leg should shed off, not into your next layer down.

Too bad ya couldn’t have gotten Victoria’s wheel and used it to cast your parts. Steve has put great use to Victoria’s bones and this would have been one more great way to ensure Victoria lives on. Nice sculptures in Norway too BTW.
@TheArtofBoatBuilding3 жыл бұрын
Hi Blair, Steve (aka Acorn to Arabella) and I have discussed casting bronze for Arabella. So as you can imagine if there is any bronze that would be considered scrap it will be used for her. To be honest when I was there last I had the opportunity to see Victoria's bronze fittings. Most all of it can be resourced as is. What Steve does have is a good amount of scrap from welding the bronze floors. So, fantastic idea and stay turned. I thinks some bronze casting for Arabella is in the future! Happy you enjoyed the Norway bit. Thanks for watching! Cheers, Bob
@Psychobilly3 жыл бұрын
@@TheArtofBoatBuilding Yeah Bob, you’re definitely interesting to watch. You’re an absolute artist and your details show. I figured that Steve would use all her fittings, I just figured due the the fact that he has a bigger motor, I’m sure Victoria’s wheel would not be the wheel on Arabella. I travel the globe a lot, and currently rotating in and outta Turkey. If I ever make it to Norway, I’m definitely going to see your pieces there. B

You know that purple heart would have made a great tamper er rammer :) I think the pine will get chewed up maybe custom metal caps? I will go sit down now and be quiet.
@dennisyoung46312 жыл бұрын
Rammers want a hard(er) dense wood, as a certain heft reduces fatigue when you’re “pounding sand.” I’m inclined toward a cast one, myself, and hope to make a split pattern for them.
@anntrautwein14303 жыл бұрын
Hmmm one would think the chaps would go out side of spats so hot metal couldn't flow inside the spatts
