Dude thank you for this. I wanted to learn how to use it but man the videos that are out there want to show you how to split an atom. This is way easier to understand for what 90% of us will use it for.

Although I'm no luddite and can handle tech VERY well, Foundy VTT is a BEAST and discovering your channel has been a godsend. Played DnD decades ago (basic, 1e, 2nd Ed) I would love to dive back in but everyone's remote. These VTT options are great and I find Foundry to be super impressive. Thanks for making these videos (to the point, fast talking, and very visual). A player video for my "old" friends would be great. Keep up the great work!

I definitely would like to request a version for players. (I have a feeling that is already in the works & your just asking for our thoughts just for comments, but I don't mind the interaction boosting).😂

Genuinely if no one wants a player version then I won't make one, so these comments help me gauge how much interest there is. 😁

I second the motion! It'd be really helpful for me to be able to go "here, watch this link before we Session 0" or something like that, and be confident that I'll not have to explain to people how to use Journals, etc.

Dude, this video is exactly what I was looking for. Last week I started watching a playlist of "beginner" videos and they were not only outdated, but so incredibly tedious and dry. This got right to the meat of it, and it was impressive that you kept my ADHD-ass focused for 20min. A Player version of this would be really helpful as I am going to start a campaign in a month or two but some players are really hesitant about using something other than Owlbear and Beyond.

Just diving into this program now...I know this is a good video because I learned a lot and I know that I have so, so much to learn. A player version of this video would be great to show to players when I actually am ready to DM lol. But thank you for doing this video!

I think I understand the issue with VTT that could really help it. They mix the basic/simple options too much with the complicated/excessive ones. The designers should make drop down boxes for complicated features and options and consolidate the simple ones. The clutter adds to the confusion.
@nattertot3 ай бұрын
I agree, it'd be nice if there was a settings lite version or something, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a mod out there that does something similar. But in contrast, I appreciate them giving us all of these features in one version and not splitting it up into Foundry FREE, Foundry+, or Foundry PREMIUM like so many other businesses would do if given a product like Foundry.

7:16 thats all good but where do you get the artwork from? I’ve searched all through the folders and there’s nothing. The system i’m using (old school essentials) has some icons relating to skills abilities and objects, claws potions etc. , but no character or monster tokens.
@nattertot10 күн бұрын
That's because the tokens and (some of) the monster artwork shown in this video are from the D&D 5e system, so if you want to access them then you'll need to download the D&D 5e game system, then you should be able to access the free Forgotten Adventures tokens. To do this, go into a foundry world, left-click on the artwork portion of an NPC or character sheet -> User Date (top portion of the window) -> systems -> dnd5e -> tokens or icons. Or if you want to access tons of free icons for items or other stuff, Core Data (top portion of same window as before) -> icons. Also as a note, Forgotten Adventures has many more tokens than what's on Foundry that are free on their website that you can download and import into foundry. Hope this helps! 🧙🏻♂️ Happy gaming.
@python27au10 күн бұрын
@ thanks mate I will check the forgotten adventures site sounds cool. I have 5e, the freeby one, and I had a look in the core folders, the only character token I can find is the default white rogue looking thing. There’s very little in the way of assets, unless they’re hidden. You know what would be nice? A magic select tool that will auto draw walls around dungeon rooms and corridors. Like the magic wand tool in photoshop.

Where can I get that scene map? You said his name so fast I couldn't catch it. Perhaps links to art and map suppliers in the description, even if they cost money?
@nattertot3 ай бұрын
Battlemaps were made by Forgotten Adventures, except for the one I used for the grid alignment example which was made by Dice Grimorium. The animated forest scene was made by James' RPG Art. 🎨

I imported a scan of “the dungeon under the mountain”, lined up a square, got it to about the same size (as far as i could see) and it was fine for about five squares then the next one was a bit out, and it got progressively worse with each square until it lined up again 20 or so squares later. Is there anything that can be done about this?
@nattertot10 күн бұрын
Ah, ok so to me that sounds like the underlying image might be cropped slightly wrong or is not proportional. You can try messing around with the image scale and grid size on Foundry and see if you can get it just right, but if it gets too frustrating, I would just make the map gridless/disable the grid and just explain to your players that for that map you'll just be using the grid on the image. All the measurement tools should still work fine, it just won't be perfect numbers (as in 15ft might be 14.86 when you try and use the measurement tool).

So i purchased a module, activated it at the foundry website, now how do i get it in game?
@nattertot11 күн бұрын
So if you've activated/purchased a mod on your account, now you gotta launch Foundry, go to the mod section, search for the mod you just unlocked and download it. Then once you launch a game world, go to the mod manager in the settings tab to enable that mod by clicking the little empty box next to its name along with any other mod you want activated. Just remember to save your settings, and it will probably require a quick reload of your game world. 👍 Hope this helps!

There is! And it's super easy! Create a character sheet by clicking "Create Actor" in the actors directory 👤, then once you're done just right click that sheet in the actors directory and click "import data". Hope this helps!

I don't have a video on port forwarding, but Foundry has a great article on their website that works as a great tutorial. 😁 It's got good step-by-step instructions, and if that doesn't work, I know that there are some pretty good video tutorials here on KZbin.

On the importing of music from tabletop or others.. you mention duplicate or import. I need to understand this better.
@nattertot3 ай бұрын
With Tabletop RPG music, it's a mod that you can download for free. Once you download it, you'll need to enable it in "Manage Modules" in the settings tab, then go to the compendium tab and right click on the folder that says Tabletop RPG Music, then click "import all content". But if you want to make your own playlist with your own music, create a playlist, then click the + symbol next to the playlist's name. Hope this helps! 🧙♂️
