@Ghostlight893 жыл бұрын
I'd like to point out some flaws in the drawing, if I may... As a fellow CAD engineer, I've tried to follow you making this model (in Solid Edge) but there are dimensions missing from the main drawing. (Took a screenshot at the start of the video.) The counterweights on the crankshaft are underdimensioned: The angle of the sides, the position of the piston connecting shaft and the radius of the top cylindrical part doesn't define clearly how long are the sides (whose angle to the other is 33°). There are no indication on the drawing that all the 180° rotated counterweight share a common tangential plane on either the top of the crankshaft, nor the bottom... I'm perfectionist enough to NOT assume they are until indicated otherwise. The Connecting Rod is underdimensioned. The oval cut that is symmetrical on both sides is not positioned according to the longer axis of the ConnRod. (I.e.: You know that its longer axis is on the axis of the connrod, but you don't know where does that 90 mms start and where it ends.) The Diam. 9 mm holes on the ConnRod Caps and ConnRods has no function. (You don't do nut and screw type of fastening on a connrod, you use hexagon socket cyl. head cap screws with threaded holes on one of the pieces and a non-threaded hole on the piece that's closer to the head of the screw.) You can count the balancing weights on the crankshaft, but you HAVE to indicate on the dimension lines that there is a repetition of elements (the weights rotated 180°), so you should indicate that. After flywheel flange, the first piece of shaft is not dimensioned. (Below the Dia. 10-Nos indication.) You can only assume it is also 38 mm, like all the other pieces... The piston head is never a dome. There should be a small indenture where the intake gases (air and fuel mixture) can compress to. (With a dome head and an inverse dome in the cyl-head, there is no place the gases can compress to.)

Its underdimensioned yes, but you are free to chose those dimensions just so it works out, its not that hard with some logical thinking lol

@@johnwade1095 what kind of apps do they use to design complex like engine? ..i thought SW is pretty advance app being used for all kind of engineering work.
@johnwade10953 жыл бұрын
@@ronron7763 Creo, Catia, or NX. SW actually say they don't do planes, trains, or automobiles. SW isn't a capable enough surfacer for complex castings, and the assembly constraints become unstable with very large models. It's more common for students to learn CAD basics and for small device design, as its integrated simulation and animation packages make it very good value. Most engine work is Creo - Toyota, BMW, Fiat, Caterpillar all use it. Honda and Ford use Catia.

Thanks for posting. I enjoy the tutorials very much. One thing I am curious about. You have all the dimensions. But if I only have the components. Ie the valves, pistons, crank etc etc. and want to put them together and design a casing around them. In other words arrange them in free space How would I start. I saw someone use a lot of different axis through a centre point, and arrange valves pistons, crank through these axes, however i couldn’t then move parts as I wanted to. Would you be able to do some tutorial along these concepts. As like myself I’m sure a lot of people want to develop their own designs or modify existing designs.
