Very cool. We did five days from Everglades City out to Picnic, Camp LuLu and Fakahachee all by canoes and that was challenging. You could pick a portion of a few days just right, but invariably you will hit wind, seas and currents in the face. We did a very similar route in your video, but camping by skiff. Your first Chickee is a rough one. It's in a river bend so while nice to be out of the wind for a bit, it was a challenge with the bugs as there was no wind. Our favorite was Plate Creek Chickee and Pavilion Key beautiful places to camp, stars everywhere at night and the wind that you hate while paddling is great for bugs. It's one thing to experience this, it's another thing to also capture that experience with a great video. You did an excellent job.

Thanks @longstrangejourney4776! Totally agree about Pavilion Key. We spent a beautiful night there. Just enough of a breeze to keep the mosquitos away and about a gazillion stars overhead! One we won't soon forget...

Great video. Felt for the guy in the canoe though. I did Flamingo up and Whitewater bay we had strong head wind and a 1 foot chop. Not a fun 1st day out lol. Old Burt has been fed by campers, not a good thing.

@@brent23961 I don't know how you did it. I am experimenting with a canoe sail and it works well as long as I plan with the tides.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4GpqIp6g8ZqY9U

Awesome trip and nice videography. I have to say that is the best route flyover I've seen in any of these adventure videos. Just curious about your work flow there. Did you upload real GPS data to GE and then record the flyover over the route? Or did you draw the route manually? Cheers.

Hey! The light blue/green line is the actual GPS track from a Garmin inReach. The fly-over route was drawn manually since we wanted to be able to back off a bit and see the route from a little bit different angle. Especially around corners. Bit kludgy, but glad it was helpful!

@brent23961 Right on. I'll have to try your approach. I've been using the app Relive, that automatically does a similar thing. But yours is so much better since you create your own flyover. Thanks so much for the reply.

I got lost in that place 3 times. How were the mosquitos and no see-ums in Feb?

It is an incredibly easy place to get turned around in. Often looks identical in every direction! Bugs? No sweat during the day (I'm sure the breeze helped). First trip (this trip), the calm nights were oppressive with mosquitos. The second trip we did (another video on here), we took a Thermacell backpacker mosquito repeller with us. Best $35 ever spent!! Sat for hours drinking wine, listening to blues, and looking at the stars. As long as we were within a few feet of the Thermcell, never got a bite...

The mosquitos are a function of temp., humidity and on the water, they are benign, on land they can be a nightmare, I am getting the $35 thing. thanks. yeah, the place is heaven for sure without the bugs.@@brent23961
