The smoke comes out when you eeduce the air by closing the door and the air intake , that means there is no flame. To make the wood last longer through the night close as much as you can , I guess those corners that where not weld are intentional so you will have a small air coming to keep the fire on!🎉

In hot summer you can collect the sheep dung mix it with some broken straw & form them into large round flat patties or balls, dry them hard in the sun & use them as fuel in your stove.

You did a nice review my friend. :) Those are top notch quality stoves! I have both Don’s Titanium Ultralight I DX and the Titanium Ultralight II stoves. He has been doing this sine 1996. From a safety perspective, you never want to completely rob a stove of ALL oxygen. You increase the likelihood of Carbon Monoxide building up inside the stove forcing its way out into your shelter. The chanes of a flair-up upon introducing fresh oxygen onto a smoldering fire is a safety concern as well. The damper, being a single piece of Titanium, is to make it as low maintenance as possible It won’t end up breaking as easily either. All the other big stove manufacturers out there (i.e., like Kni-co. Gstove, Winnerwell, etc) that use the turnable damper eventually start to fail when the spring tensioner that holds it in place wears out. Soot and other buildup will accumulate (especially if you have it shut down a lot) in the damper itelf as well and it makes it more difficult to clean out the pipe afterwards. It’s just a more simple design overall from start to finish.

Very nice! I too was wondering about a fire-rated glass panel(s), but I guess that would add quite a bit of weight. It is kinda nice to watch the campfire TV, so I s'pose a fella jus hafta open the dang door t' watch! Saw an Englishman put a 3 ft section of glass tube in his rocket stove, and that was a show! But they're designed specifically to burn the offgases in the lower chimney section. I didn't notice if the maker Included anything for scooping out hot ashes. Was thinking if you needed to come up with something, that steel and brass are both softer than titanium, but aluminium would be even safer as far as keeping the stove unmarred.

That is SO cool ! I knew it would burn all night. I couldnt tell if theres a grate in the bottom ash falls through. That much money it is made to last, smart buy ! I was worried it would melt your roof :) When I lived n the woods, we got pieces of Styrofoam & covered them w/ a flexible metal/tinfoil stuff, to protect the back wall & put it around where the pipe went out.

@123homefree since there is hardly any smoke, you could tube the exhaust to give you more heat .. maybe build a chair that hooks up to the exhaust or a bed connection that heats the bed or seat or something

Don't feel bad about the cost, you deserve it. I think will eventually go to a bronze color, after the short life of the purple. I want a tig welder too! Look for a shop that tigs and get those corners closed up, but I suspect the burn will not be effected much by the corners as they are.

To get the most energy (heat) out of the fuel it all has to burn fully with a proper blue flame in a strong draft! First the lightest components of the wood evaporate out from it and burn with oxygen from the air, and the heat from that gasifies what was left (essentially charcoal) into CO (carbon monoxide), which also burns and all of that requires combustion air as long as there is any fuel inside the stove. This requires never closing it tight before the burn chamber is empty of fuel and only ash remains. If there's not enough air (too much damping) you gets visible smoke and soot as the heat from the initial burning gasifies the wood but there's not enough air to actually get any additional energy from all that fuel! A sign of a good burn is nothing black or dark grey coming out of the chimney, just light grey mist when it's a cold day and the water vapour also produced by burning wood becomes a visible cloud as it cools down after exiting. The CO2 of a good burn is invisible to our eyes. I wouldn't worry about those unwelded seams. They are probably a manufacturing choice and inconsequential to operation - you always, always need airflow into an operating woodstove and the unwelded flanges are easier to make sit flat against the front wall (eliminates chance of welding warping the metal of the door).

I have been thinking about getting a wood stove like this, but was very unconvinced of the quality & functionality of just about everything I saw on the market so far, plus some of them were super expensive for what they were. This one actually looks very effective and probably worth the investment in the long term.

Woah, cool stove man! I will have a small boiler on the railing of my sailboat with PEX pipe around the boat with 2 small radiators. The boiler will have a woodpellet burner that can be taken out to burn a foot long firewood if needed. I will have a 40 liter accumulator tank inside for hot water, it's going to be almost as cozy as your wagon! 🙂👍

I have lived with a few wood stoves, including this one in steel. The problem I have is most "gear" is made to be used 3 days a year for ten years, 30+/- days? A lot of time I get caught up with light weight and spend too much money! You will like this stove. Check out a stove pipe flue

Stove looks awesome. I've got a fast fold one and you're right they don't fully close down and two hours is about the average burn time I can get out of it. I still love it though. Nothing beats a wood heater when you're outdoors in winter.

Really nice video review. If you wish to make this completely air tight you can purchase a self-adhesive fiberglass wood stove gasket rope and put it around the door inside. This will do the job you can get one on ebay it's about $10

The gaps will probably get alot tighter when the metal gets hot and expands, they are probably calculated gaps to let just enough air in to keep the coals burning thats just my guess .Can't beat woodstove heat in the winter though it's the best

If the heat is real good coming out the top, could buy some pipes to run it through your wagon to get some heat, not sure how cold it is there in (oregon?) But i know a lot of the rest of the country is pretty damn cold, coming from a minnesotan

Lol goodluck buying one this company is still waaay too small for their demand they have a waiting list still i assume. Ive contacted a couple other brands to direct them into producing a similar non-folding airtight titanium portable woodstove so hopefully the market vacuum will come in to the public surthrival rescue..

Holy cow what a coincidence , Was looking at this stove today after some research on forums and the price is high in CAD that being said it's more well built than the other titanium stoves like seek outside etc having that airtight build makes longer efficient burntimes. I was looking at buying some titanium sheets and manufacturing my own stove from titanium but without being welded it is near impossible to be as airtight as that stove . , I got a smaller titanium stove , leave it out in the sun for a bit it gets extremely hot it's a real interesting metal for sure

The breakdown stoves warp out of shape easy and because they are not one solid peice will create larger air gaps when they warp. Also some stoves titanium is so thin it'll warp easily. Titanium stoves will last much longer lifespan , I haven't heard of one being burnt out yet . But sand on the bottom/and or ashes prolongs their life

The one thing I would change is to a stainless steel pipe w/ key style damper , when it's high winds here the smoke tends to get blown back down the chimney and come through any possible air gap in the stove , Also , something you should check out is fibreglass chimney wrap to protect your feet from touching the stove st night, it wraps directly around the pipe secured by pipe clamps and if your foot happened to touch it won't burn only warm I got one for my stove when I put it in

Don from Four Dog Stove rates his Titanium Ultralight I DX (10”x10”x18”) stove being capable of heating a 8’x10’ wall tent in -30F. His Titanium Ultralight II (11”x11”x22”) stove is capable of heating a 10’x12’ wall tent in -30F. These are general guidelines and depend on the type of wood you use too. Don came up with these estimates from years of use and input from customers that have used them, for months at a time, on long winter expeditions.

Hey Aaron-That baffle is there to help the stove burn cleaner-the EPA regulates wood stove emissions now and a lot of legacy stoves aren’t legal anymore for sale. My Jotul 118 has a baffle like this, just a bit longer of a baffle. You are going to appreciate the baffle a lot if you ever use this stove for heat as it forces the stove to burn from front to back and it takes longer that way. How is the solar panel working out? I lost mine in the fire, saw the two I ordered in my Amazon purchases and how you were making out with the one I sent?

Those thin steel sheet metal stoves are crap they warp immediately increasing the gaps in their design plus the thin low grade steel burns/rusts through in just a couple years

If some bs titanium chimney exhaust burns ur hand, its not worth a thought or 650$. This temperature differential is what should keep u alive. The environment probably doesn't need this 'gift'.
