You didn't neutralize the acid. I get a hose and wash the battery tray off. I mix water and baking soda in a plastic cup. Then with a small brush I apply it to anything that looks like metal near the battery. If it foams up it had acid on it. Then I rinse it all off again. I dry everything off with paper towels. And I paint metal parts with some black spray paint. And wire brush them first if possible.

@GrafDevelopments5 жыл бұрын
I had no idea about the cabin filters. I will be checking mine tomorrow. Most people don't know this, but when using a crescent wrench or regular open-end wrench, the working ends are, as you know, never pointed straight, they angle. This design is no accident. They are engineered this way to create a stronger "grip" on the nut or bolt. Always push or exert force on the side of the handle that's on the fixed side of the wrench or longer side of the handle. The tool is also less likely to break this way.

The first Optima batteries were made in the U.S. They were high quality and lasted quite a few years. Now, all the Optimas are all made in Mexico and there is quality issues with many of them and they don't seem to last as long as previous generation models.

James, I am a boat dealer in the midwest. We have been selling and using Interstate batteries for more than 20 years. Just in the last couple years have the Optima line of batteries begun to fail much soonerr than before. There are several AGM batteries out the that do a better job. Do your homework guys.

I bought my jk Rubicon in March 2007. 12.5 years & 345k miles later I custom cut a larger cab filter and install in it. I popped off the plastic screen and broke off the plastic clips leaving two posts. I then cut a larger cabin filter and fitted it securly into the duct work above the blower fan. I used one zip tie to hold screen in place. Wish I had done it sooner. I removed blower motor and washed 12 yrs of dust and crude off it. It is quite and smooth now. Should have done this a decade ago. Crawl should do video on this modification. 2011 is when cabin filters were added to jks
@richardturk71625 жыл бұрын
Optima batteries aren't as good as they used to be so keep that in mind. Here is a tip on the clamp used on the tie rod I found mounting the clamp where you want it and before you install the two grip screws mark their holes and unclamp the bracket. Using a drill bit or a counter sink bit and dimple the tie rod where you marked it. Re install the clamp and the two grip screws. That way the bracket won't come loose as the tie rod moves.

from experience, if anyone does their battery, LOOSEN the 10mm nuts that keep the terminals tight, just take tgem to the end of the bolt. you don't have to remove them completely and when the terminals pop off (like in the video) you don't lose that little slide piece that locks the terminals on ....which sucks :)
@CRAWLTV6 жыл бұрын
Great way to keep from losing your nuts! 🥜 Haha Great comment. That was one of those hindsight “ope!” moments.

also helps to open hood all the way (sit on windshield). Then you can pull the battery straight up and out.

When changing a battery,, you should always clean the battery terminals and battery cable metal ends of the new battery, before installing the battery in the car. Then you should put a protectant on the terminals to prevent battery problems and corrosion in the future.

If optima batteries are so great, why don't you use their older design spiral cell yellow top batteries , instead of the old square case battery you just bought. . The round ones were AGM batteries, too, and didn't leak no matter their position. I prefer the Interstate AGM battery, which comes with a full 4 year replacement warranty and it is not prorated but full replacement.
@CRAWLTV6 жыл бұрын
James Koralewski The battery we installed is actually a pre-production prototype that was unveiled at SEMA 2017. This isn’t the “old” design by any means.
@jameskoralewski35836 жыл бұрын
For years, optima touted their battery shape as round cells so they could have more surface area than square batteries of all the other manufacturers batteries. Car batteries have been square for many many years until optima came along with their round cells. If the surface area is larger with their round cells, then why did they reduce it and go back to square batteries, like the rest of the battery world uses? Why return to an inferior design when you previously had a superior designed product, according to optima? How long of a warranty did you get with that optima battery?

Hey Crawl tv! I am looking to replace my OME SS and what to buy this model. Can you share about steering feel with positive force SS and the differnce when set on soft to firm? Thanks really enjoyed the video
@CRAWLTV6 жыл бұрын
Hey! So, this stabilizer is very cool. After rolling around for so long with no stabilizer, it definitely feels tighter, since the stabilizer dampens some of those minor shocks from bumps and stuff. Soft will be a great setting for wheeling. It’s very soft. It’s almost an off switch. Firm is very firm though. The steering doesn’t return to center after a turn it’s so firm. I expect to keep it on medium for the most part. There are definitely scenarios where all three will help out though!

If you want a better everyday driving fuel economy, you can use the extreme fuel economy on your flashpaq. Of course my tire size is only 33” with a 2.5” lift; my fuel economy was better than the 87 octane tune at 65 mph.
